No he wouldn't. If he weren't vice president and no one pressed charges, he definetly still would not have to do time. it's a pure accident and the friend forgives him. Vice president or not there is nothing to punish him for except maybe a momentary laps of common sense which is not against the law.

It's also common sense that when you go out hunting, you let people know where you are before they shoot.

It's common sense that you shout to say you're shooting before you shoot - or else you may , like, kill a quail or something.

Accidents happen, the police report it as an accident. If you accidently shoot someing in a hunting accident, generally you don't go to jail. Note the term used here, accident.

I dislike Vice President Cheney very much, but the man accidently shot one of his friends. The guy seems to feel horrible, has accepted resposibility for it, and its not like the Lawyer that he shot is having to pay for his own medical expenses.

You are a total jackass. My cousin is in the Marines he is serving a 3rd tour right now in Iraq. Last time he was home he told me about seeing an Iraqi getting hit by a grenade round in the chest. He told me as long as he lives he will never forget seeing the mans legs take 2 steps before falling over. After something like that you can't hardly tell it is a person much less a "sand monkey". Great post. I've been wating to see that test. It's S.O.P. in any hunting accident to separate and question people immediatly or as soon as possible in secluded locations. Otherwise they have time to huddle and get there story together. The Armstrong ranch is hardley secluded. Not only that they turned away a sheriff deputy and told him to return the following morning for a statment. Then theres miss Armstrong the so called eye witness. In her first statement she said that she was 100 yards away and he first thought was that DICK had a heart attack. If you are that far away and your first assumtion of what happend was wrong how can you give the exact fact of how the shooting happend.

Apparently the lawyer wasn't in line. Therefore, he's technically more at fault than Cheney. If you've ever been bird shooting, you know that they go across your field of vision, you follow them with your shotgun. If someone is outside of the line, then it's their own fault if they get shot, you can't be held responsible for someone putting themself in harm's way like that. It's like jumping in front of a car and expecting it to stop in time. Even if you get hit, it's not the driver's fault even though he technically hit you.

Even still, it's absolutely hilarious.
