What do people think of anarchy?
No, not a computer game, or all out violence, but actual anarchy. No governments, just man.

What do you mean no violence, violence happens, but when it does, we have government to protect us.

I don't mean no violence, but some people mentally connect between anarchy and slaughtering everyone, graffiti, rebels, etc.

Anarchy is a political fantasy where a fully functioning society exists with no rules. People go about their lives as they wish. It can't happen because of (yes, I admit) human nature. Our primitive instincts are geared towards war, greed, and the ever popular sin. You can't control crime without some kind of force, and then it becomes every man for himself. Thus enter the violence and disorder. Anarchists dream of a peaceful world without opression. People aren't made for peace.

But I do hate it when people automatically degrade Anarchy as post-apolypic disorder. It could work if we weren't animals cursed with insanity.

Unfortunately, without Government there can be no realistic manner of transferring information about the people. With the fall of the Roman empire into a state of lots of small kingdoms (a huge step to anarchy) there was an enormous loss of knowledge. And frankly, I'd rather be repressed than ignorant.

I think there should be a trial of Anarchy. Like a smallish country in southern Europe, or maybe a state in the US.
Throw in a million people of so, and see what happens.
I'd join.

Anarchy is a fine dream....no government to control you and total control over your own fate.....

Sadly it doesn't work...government is needed to help organize a structured society and keep people from killing eachother.

In an Anarchist system someone such as myself would rise to power and set themselves up as dictator. Now that would be good for me, but probably not for everyone else.

This is beginning to sound like a damn parrot chorus but yes i agree with the majority of the statements above. Anarchy is based on everyone following the "Golden Rule", which primarily states do onto others as you would wish to be done onto you, for those of us who can remember kindergarden. It is a utopianistic ideal that will never come to be realized unless we perged the world of well... Us. Although I think the system could work if you combined with with synicalism or guild classes. Here are indavidual definitions and then a combined ones.

an·ar·chy n. pl. an·ar·chies
Absence of any form of political authority.
Political disorder and confusion.
Absence of any cohesive principle, such as a common standard or purpose.

\Syn"dic*al*ism\, n. [F. syndicalisme.]

The theory, plan, or practice of trade-union action (originally as advocated and practiced by the French Conf['e]d['e]ration G['e]n['e]rale du Travail) which aims to abolish the present political and social system by means of the general strike (as distinguished from the local or sectional strike) and direct action of whatever kind (as distinguished from action which takes effect only through the medium of political action) -- direct action including any kind of action that is directly effective, whether it be a simple strike, a peaceful public demonstration, sabotage, or revolutionary violence. By the general strike and direct action syndicalism aims to establish a social system in which the means and processes of production are in the control of local organizations of workers, who are manage them for the common good.

-Anarcho-Syndicalism is a melding of the worker empowerment properties of Syndicalism and the flattening of institutional authority inherent in Anarchy. Communitarian rather than Communist, the system is based largely on enlightened self-interest. At the macroeconomic level this means no more corporations or large financial institutions. At the microeconomic level it means small businesses operating with the help of community-based "microlenders" who are not allowed to acquire more than a set amount of a given community's collective debts. It also means barter and trade as one alternative to cash and credit, but without banning either of those two means of exchange.

Anarchy may seem like a dream come true, no rules, you can do whatever the hell you want!

But remember that you no longer have a system to protect you, if somebody walks into your house, steals your stuff, and rapes your dog it's perfectly fine. You could do the same to him/her but still... (how could a girl rape a dog though?)

And there would be little trade going on, with no government to enforce a monatary system money would have no value at all. Not to mention the fact that since nobody would be working (what's the point if there's no money) there would be nothing to buy (and without employees at the electiric company no electricity to run our high energy life).

Pretty much we'd sit around and murder each other until somebody else came and took our asses over. Probably Cuba or something.
