there is actually a video that shows a japanese sword slicing a bullet in two (the bullet was fired on the sword). it was a pistol btw, didnt say what calibre.

I've been browsing about, and I think that it requires a reasonable degree of skill to use either weapon. Swords are somewhat difficult to wield, and not slice your own arm off, or do real damage, while guns, you have to deal with distance, whether or not he's taking cover, ammo, and recoil, all while they're shooting at you.

Guns require more marksmanship but using a sword requires muscle mass, I think using a Knife will do just as well as a sword, it may have a shorter blade, but at least a knife is more modern and lighter. But Melee Weapons are only good for 2 things; Close Range combat when you are out of ammo or are caught without a firearm, or for assassinations I.E.: Stabbing someone in the back

Technically that was three things, but anyways. Melee weapons are multipurpose also. I gun is only good for killing things. A sword (for example) can be used to kill also, but it can also be used for more practicall things. Like after you kill an animal, you can use the sword to skin it. Then you can use it to skewer the animal and cook it over an open fire without having to worry about a stick of wood or something catching on fire. Of coarse, you would want to use something else to help grab it with because it would be extreemly hot after being hovered over a fire long enough for something to cook. In a sense a sword or blade in general is the ultimate survival tool.

I could go on for a long time with more examples as to why a sword is better than a gun from a practicall standpoint, but from a killing standpoint the gun is by far supperior.

It can be done, I am sure of this because I have done it. It would have deffinatlly been easier with a hunting knife or even a hatchet because a sword is very long and awkward compaired to such other weapons. But none the less, it can be done.

Nothing is wrong with Canada. Canada is a great country, and I will probablly move there eventually.
Anyways, It is all a matter of standpoint. Like you said a gun is better at times, and a blade is better at times. It just depends on what you are doing is all.

I'm just curious, why does it seem like everyone thinks that anyone who likes swords is a nerd? I doubt you'd be calling a samurai or crusader that, if they were still around... Guns are indeed the best weapons available today, but swordplay is usually a much more personal and honorable form of fighting. There's also more artistry in the creation and use of a blade. Although the way the cowboys of the old west fought, it's fairly similar.
