Anyway.

Post here if you want ideas or need elaboration/suggestions on the ones you already have. it would be nice if you gave me the background of the girl (like what her personality is like so I know how corny to go with this) and perhaps some of the other things you've done in the past.

And I'm just going to give base ideas here. Because I get into these things like a wedding planner sometimes. I mean I had a guy make a trail of rose petals to his basement from his front door for his girlfriend to follow and he had a teddy bear and a hand made valentine waiting for her as well as a dozen roses.

yes it was a lot of work. but I'll just say he had a wild and exhausting valentine's night *wink*wink*

ACTUALLY. It used to be St. Valentine's Day. Some saint in France or some other smelly European country was imprisoned for some reason I don't know. So the people of the town he was from all went to the jail and brought him cards and gifts.

But I do indeed agree that commercializing has gone too far with everything. Even children don't associate Easter and Christmas with god. They associate these things with kleptomaniac bunnies and an obese old man with an army of jingle belled toed midgets.

lol yeah that is pretty funny.

I always love stuff that is hand made. Just because I'm a really sentimental person. Crafting/Making something takes a lot more time and effort than Buying something.

The best gift I ever got was a casette tape with a song my boyfriend at the time wrote for my birthday. It was the shittiest song I have ever heard in my life. But even to this day, 5 years after I got that tape, I can still sing the song.

Okay, so there's this girl I'm sort of seeing, and I wanted to get her something really nice for Valentines day, but she's a very busy person. I'm not really cut out for a long distance relationship, but don't have anything else to go on. Please help.

Valentine was a bishop in Rome who taught about the sacredness of the Marriage Bed.
When a proclamation was announced that a man could not marry without spending two years in the military, Valentine conducted illegal marriages in secret. He was seized and thrown in prison for this. The emperor offered him a chance to denounce his faith and proffess that his marriages were illegal, but he refused. He was sentenced to execution.
During this time he received many letters from people supporting him around the nation. While this scared some political leaders, the emperor was still persistant on having him executed. In his last hours, Valentine sent a sealed note to his lover, whom he never saw again. I think he sent it with a rose (I'm not sure).
Some say most of the story was legend, but there must've been enough truth to it for him to later be announced a Saint by the Catholic church and for Pope Gelasius to announce a St Valentine Feast on February 14, 496.
*It is assumed by several historians that the Pope announced this day to counter Lupercalia (where young men and women would pick the names of others out of a jar and sleep with them). During this day, which was held on February 15, Lupercalia (god of fertility) would be worshiped and the heads of goats would be raced down the streets and any young woman touched by them was supposed to be blessed.
In 1969, as part of a larger effort to pare down the number of saint days of purely legendary origin, the Church removed St. Valentine's Day as an official holiday from its calendar. However, countries like America welcomed the holiday and adopted it into their culture.
