but some parents might think that they can send their kid to counseling and the counseler is the one who is sapose to do everything. the parents also have to take part in it.

Not necissarily. You need to have a plan of where you will go at ANY time because you don't know what could happen. For all you know (using the topicstarters brother as an example) your parents and older brother and his wife could get in an car accident and all die. Then where is he?
I learned this at a very early age because I grew up as an orphan. I felt that the world owed me something and that's why my foster parents put me in counseling in the first place. I went to three sessions and ended up punching the counselor because I kindly asked him to just be quiet and stop being so nosy, my life is/was none of his business.
