Rap is going to be around for a long long time...Rock takes no skill... you just scream into a microphone... Rap takes real skill, you must be able to write good lyrics and rap at amazing sppeds without stuttering and such. You must be powerful with your music. Just listen to a Kanye West song and you'll know what I mean...

It seems you are mistaking rock with metal. That said, metal and rock both take a lot of skill. Have you ever tried to play an instrument? Drums, guitar, bass and the like? It takes years of practice to get good at it. Rock has been around since the 40's. Rap has been around since, when? the 80's?

Now about the screaming. Have you ever tried to death-metal growl without hurting your vocal cords? Doubtful. That takes practice too. And don't lecture about rap's lyrics. Older rap's lyrics actually mean something. Mainstream? Peh, "I stuck my dick in mah ho" doesn't count.

I find it ironic that your argument is the same one that all the rap haters say, only with "rap" in the place of "rock" and vice versa. Nowadays, all you need to be a rapper is a deep voice, "gangster" clothes and dark skin. Back when rap was good, it had skill. Now? Pfft. And no, the only people who listen to rock are NOT 40 year-olds in their moms basement. I listen to rock. All of my friends listen to rock. Over 3/4th of the people on NG listen to rock.

Rock and/ or Metal is not fading away, infact they have way more talent than any rapper you can mention.

1) Rock/Metal actually uses instruments,rap doesn't.

2) It is not just screaming, they are actually saying things, which are way more creatrive than anything a rapper says.

3) They also play instuments at amazing speeds.

4) Metal/ rock isn't as mainstream as rap.

5) Rap is for poseurs.

There is also more reasons.

But it conclusion(sp?), metal/rock is way better than rap.
