See thats the thing. They make these movies thinking about the majority of people who don't play the games. The fans feel so betrayed by this. Doom was an alright flick. DOOM was completely different though. But honestly, I would only have been happy if I saw a cyber-demon.

Kojima isnt going to direct it, the same guy who directed Bloodrayne is. Yea, I said it, he is actually thinking about a Metal Gear Solid movie. Please, if there is a God in heaven, please not let it suck!

how can you even judge silent hill and the halo movies when they haven't been released as YOU noticed? personally, i think the silent hill movie looks good. you think metal gear solid would be a good movie if it was by hideo kojima directing. he didn't want to make the 3rd and 4th game, but continued to do so when no one else would. Thus minimizing the chance of him making a movie 1%.

I don't think it can happen, unless you add to something that wasn't in the game. If one of my favorite games got turned into a movie, I'd be restless watching it. You go from having a choice and influence on the outcome, to watching someone do all that for you.

Well there has been one ultimate video game movie based off street fighter 2. The animated one. That owned. Or p4wn3d. Whatever.

Silent Hill looks great. AND the PyrimadHead isn't CGI. I think that makes it about ten times better.

John Woo is reportedly working on upcoming Metroid and Spy Hunter flicks. Might be good.

Movies based off games in general are going to suck, because the whole premise is that it's a MOVIE, not a game. This explains a few things. For example, the fact that most movies end up around 2 - 3 hours long, so half the good stuff from the game's plot would end up on the cutting room floor (why do you think there are so little movies based off RPGs?). Second, there's also the fact that the gamers are not the only ones watching these movies. Moviegoers are too, which means that the companies making this movie have to introduce the topic in a way everyone understands. Sure, Doom may have sucked to the fans, but what about the people only hearing about Doom for the first time? All they're thinking about is the Rock.

The reason Video Game movies fail is because it doesn't live with the image gamers had. If you played Half-Life 2, then watched a movie on it, there's a big difference between playing and watching.

Here's some VG movies I saw and was repulsed:

Wing commander: Made for SNES platform, later PC. In this movie there's little to do with the game story. There was a freaking gun fight for christ sakes, in the game it was either fly your ship or chill on the Tigerclaw. I was disgusted.

Mario Brothers: Bad, the fact that it delt with evolution and Bowser looked retarded. The movie shames the Mario Legacy.

Mortal Kombat: Would've been good if they didn't one side the fights. The series could've been left off but they had to sequel it into a non game spin off.

Street Fighter: Saw first 10 minutes and literally ejected the tape into the trash can. Story rape.

All movies based off of video games suck and vice versa!

It's good for a movie video game. The genre of movie based video games has a long way to go, considering ET2600 KILLED a system.

The Final Fantasy: Advent Children movie didn't ruin ANYTHING, it was actually really, really cool. The Final Fantasy movie that came out in theaters was the one that sucked, and that had nothing at all to do with Final Fantasy.

Doom sucked, true. Some other VG movies sucked.

One that didn't suck was Resident Evil, I think.
