Sorry for the double post.......... For those of you who haven't seen the future GTO Concept Car, here it is! (It MIGHT even be featured at the NY Auto Show! But if it is, it'll be on a turn-table with a polite "Do not touch" sign). Currently, it's only a concept.........

Oh dear god no... I seriouslly hope they don't put it into production like that. It looks like some wannabe Lambo. Then again, most concepts look like that for some reason. I wonder why that is... *ponders*

Okay, I got some good news and I got some bad news! ......... The good news is, the GTO Concept car has NOT been slated for production. (I agree, it's ugly as Hell). The bad news is, there's already a car on the market that looks a lot like it; the Mitsu Eclipse! And if the Eclipse sells well....................

cant wait for picks.

Anyways, the GTO IS in production again, but i'd hardly call it a GTO. It looks like a souped up Grand Am or something. The least they could have done is given it the hoodscoops that gave it its look... heres a pic \/

Yeah, the current GTO is too soft......... and it's just not selling! And, not just because it's outward appearance lacks the bold lines of the earlier GTOs. There's a number of annoying problems with the car. (For example, some idiot designer or technician put a pivoting brake-pedal on it)! ............. As for hood-scoups, the one's on the original GTOs were for looks only! (You can tell because the hood-scoup is positioned too far back on the hood to actually be functional). But, they had real power; so it doesn't matter. I guess it's not really a GTO, without hood-scoups. Pontiac is offering them as a No-cost option on the current-model GTOs. Here's a pic!

That's mostly because of the fact that they want it to look up to date. But they overdid it abit and made it look like a family sedan. >: (

Hmm... can't say I've heard about this. Can you explain it abit more in your next post mono?

But, they had real power; so it doesn't matter.

As opposed to the "Fake power" of 400 HP LS2 that the new one makes?

Yay for hoodscoops. : D

Sure, no problem. Every current GTO has a pivoting brake pedal. It's basically hinged at the very bottom. When you apply the brake very gently, it pivots down just a bit before you are able to actually apply the brakes! This is one of the stupidest features that has appeared on ANY automobile! Why? Three words: heel and toe! (You have experience with a stick-shift, Faces. You know what I mean when I say "heel and toe)." Guess what, you can't do that on a manual-equipped GTO! Why? Because if you try it, the brake-pedal just pivots! Ooops, no brakes! You've got to deliberately take your foot and apply it directly on top of the brake-pedal! How retarded is that?! The new Mustangs are less expensive, they handle better, the interior looks better (so does the exterior), and there's no retarded pivoting brake-pedal. Yes, the GTOs have about 100 extra ponies under the hood, and yet most GTOs are collecting dust in GM warehouses......... As for the "fake power" thing. I meant that the original GTOs were sooo powerful that it didn't matter that they came equipped with non-functional hood-scoups! The power is real!

You guys are forgetting that the car that the new GTO is based on is not american designed, it has only been changed suit America a bit more than the Australian version the Holden Monaro which by the way, looks better in my opinion.

Actually, I didn't forget. I just never brought it up. BTW, you forgot the pics! ;) ........... But I've seen the car that the current GTO is based on. They're not that different. The Australian version has a full grill, rather than a split one that you see on all Pontiacs. The one from Australia has only one exaust pipe sticking out the back, and it's right-hand drive. Except for those 3 things, America got the same, exact looking car.

Actual The GTO is more powerful than the Monaro. The GTO produces 298 Kw (400Hp) compared to the 260Kw (349Hp) of the standard Monaro. The HSV GTO produces about the same as the US GTO but is far more expensive to buy. And yes Monocrom I have forgotten the Polo GTi pics again and it is too dark to take decent photos outside. I will get it done eventualy, I swear!!

I drive a red 1989 nissan 240sx hatchback and it's a drifting machine!

Nice car..

Infact, I have a 1991 200sx/180sx. It's not the naturally aspirated 2.4l piece of crap you guys had up there in the states. It's an 1800cc turbo-charged version... far more powerful.

I've been thousands on the car and while it's just sitting in the garage for the last few months, I'm planning on fitting either the SR20DET of the RB from the R34 Skyline. Money isn't a problem with getting the motor. It's the fitting and experiance I can't seem to find.

Running with a hybrid T3/T4 Garret, gas-flowed head, ceramic pistons, free-flowing exhaust with a bit of compression, remappable Unichip, huge FMIC, I'm getting 169kw at the rear wheels. This is only at 0.69 boost! Top speed between 250-260km/h. Not bad for an 1800cc.

She has also been dropped about 40mm (or 60mm, not sure) and I've had Koni performance shocks and springs added. A short-shifter kit and wing from Australia was also added. Boost/oil/water gauges added in the right pillar of the driver side (Right-hand drive here).

I also race. Although I have no go-karting experiance, I'm doing pretty well. Here are some vids:

Old 8v Golf with LSD grabbing the tar.
First national race last year in the Polo cup championship.
I was forced to have a page made for my profile. You can view it at http://www.juniorkruger.co.za/

Ah yes! There IS a difference in horsepower. But in terms of looks alone, basically; same car!

You're right. As for the hood-scoupes on the current model GTO, Pontiac was offering it on the Grand-Am; right before that model got discontinued and replaced by the G6.

I don't know squat about foreign cars. But hey, if you visit the club once in awhile I might pick up some things.

Anyways, you obviouslly know what you're doing when it comes to cars. I also noticed that you said you have a turbo. So I'm guessing you are a rally racer and not a drag racer like myself. (i'm just to lasy to turn. :D) but I can race with turns also if need be. I just prefeer drag racing. No pics of timeslips as of now because I don't really bother with them. (Other words, I throw them away right after I get them.) Welcome to the club.

Also, somepurson you are welcome to join the club too. Just PLEASE DON'T QUADRUPLE POST.

It would also be nice if you could create a profile that other club members could click onto, to learn a bit more about you. There's only one veteran NG user who hasn't created a profile. And, I mean 1 out of almost 1,000,000 users! ........... BTW, Faces, is the pivoting brake-pedal on the GTO the most retarded thing you've ever heard of, as being a standard feature on a car or what??

I'm still not quit sure I understand what you meant. Like when you push on it, it kind of lowers and then goes in? If this is the case it could probablly be easilly fixed if you just take out the pivoting arm. That's what I got from your explanation anyways.

No, if you take out the pivot; the part of the brake-pedal that your foot touches falls off! There's really no way to fix the problem! Here's a crappy MS paint pic to better illustrate the problem! ............. (I never said I was a freaking artist).

LOL .......... We use the term "manual" as well. Old-timers refer to it as "a Standard." The full terminology is "stick-shift." Often shortened to "stick." (Makes it sound more manly). "What do you drive?" Answer- "A stick!!!"

If you said to most guys in New Zealand you had a "stick" you would be on the ground unconsious in a matter of seconds. And it sounds as manly as "I drive a pink Vw Beetle."
