Well, it just got me thinking about the question about fugitives and how everything is racist against them and the immigrants...

Well, if you say "I love Sweden" in Sweden, you will be mixed up for being a nazis.

So everything patriotic, all appreciation you want to show your country is forbidden if you don't want to be known as a racist or nazi.

When the king of Sweden (Carl Gustaf the XVI) visited my school, the chorus sang some African song for him, with drums and a text in a foreign language...

The other day, I played the Swedish national anthem on my electric guitar for my little brother.

Now just for a test, as I somehow did suspect that he (Even though he is seven years old) wouldn't recognize it.

After I had played the entire anthem, he still didn't know what I had just played.

So... is it right that children in school are to learn songs in foreign languages, when they obviously can't even recognize the national anthem of their own country?

If they dont know the meaning of the anthem they should make them learn it.

Only if the foreign song is cooler.

No, it's not right, it's a fucking disgrace.

Eh?

The meaning of it is very clear as I assume that Swedes can speak Swedish. But when schools (Politicans) want to be so mullti-cultural that they play only anthems from foreign countries, but not of the motherland I think something has gone too far.

The king of Sweden probably hears the Swedish national anthem 35 times a day. Hell, I'm pretty sure he wakes up in a cold sweat avery night with that hymn stuck in his head. The African flair in this song is probably a welcomed addition to his incredibly patriotic life.

As for knowing the anthem, if he dosen't know it than teach it to him. My sister didn't know who Hitler was until she was 12, then I explained to her and everyone was happy.

Eh, some countries are patriotic, others aren't.
It doesn't really bother me either way, as long as people don't go as far as hating their country or idolizing it.

Failgrounds.

That's a good point, Andersson. At my primary school we'd sing the first couple of verses of our national anthem every monday morning, but it's pretty weird to hear that people in their own country don't even recognise their own anthem all together...

People should definately be educated in a wide field, so that they can be patriotic... without being racist.

Ouch. That sucks, but I guess it's better than how some people are in the U.S. I've seen people get pissed if someone doesnt go see fireworks on July 4.

National Anthems are just mild indoctrination, to instill pride, I can do that without singing a little ditty in a really horrible, and faked falsetto tone.

But it's part of your history and culture. Should we be so concerned about political correctness that we try to incorparate everyone else's culture into mainstream soiciety that we forget our own?

Haha, well there are enough Swedish songs to play on a summer than some from Africa (Which did sound like shit aswell).

Marcus, the way you were raised seems legit according to me.

I couldn't agree more.

That is exactly what I am saying.

Sweden is becoming a country without roots.

And yet if you speak out and are patriotic you'll be branded a racist.

Just because you love your country doesn't mean that you hate all the others.

Exactly.

I say what I want in real life though. It ain't racist and if they believe I blame it on their bad selfconfidence and that they are in fact racists.

It's not about where you come from or what not, but we need to preserve our own culture just as others. If there is the survival of one culture to prioritize, then it should be the culture of your own country,

I can say that I would not be considered to be a german race if a nazi species biologist would judge me, and I would be killed therefor.

My relatives are as far I can know real Swedes (Last names are for example; Fjäll, Andersson, Eriksson, Lindberg and so on) but I think I got kins from the vikings who travelled and lived in Normandie though.

But that has nothing to do with it, it's about appreciating your country and to remember your history.
