Ng Bbs Is Officially > Ng Chat

Okay, before I get into the topic, please don't think I've stopped viewing the mass majority of bbsers as being complete wastes of life. But, with that said...

NG BBS is officially > NG chat.

People who have known me over the years are probably wondering what I'm smoking... but let's look at the facts.

1) in spite chat being a real-time environment... a bbs post will get more replies and conversation rolling per minute than chat currently does.

2) In spite the fact the bbs is run by a bunch of monkeys, those monkeys DO encourage people to use the bbs to a pretty notable extent. People don't really feel welcome in chat anymore.

3) The BBS is definately considered part of NG... the chat is just a java app to an off-site irc server, not even run by anyone directly affiliated with NG. And it's a really crappy server too.

4) While the general area of NG may be full of morons, the rest of the bbs is a valuable resource, and many of your favorite ng contributers can be found in here. NG contributers won't be found in chat very much, so if you hope to meet any of them... stick around here.

5) Yes you do get banned from the bbs for being an asshole...as you should.... but to a small extent, you can still have some fun here, and even be a teensy weensy tiny bit edgy. In chat, it's either complete anarchy, or complete lockdown depending on if the operators are just idling or paying attention.... either way... it's not much fun for people who are lookign for something with a hint of intellect. It's either 14 year old spammers, or comeplete silence.

Of course it is. Chat is mostly silent save for occasional instances. Besides, you can just get an IrC chat server. Ng Bbs is far better.

Agreed BBS is better than the chat, the chat is full of java noobs that come in ask asl and get banned instantly or snotty people who tell you to get the fuck out or that they don't care what you have to say... it's kinda sad.

Yup! I tried it and thought it sucked, so I haven't been back since. I've also had connectivity problems too. That's probably the most prevalent reason why people use the BBS, that and you can always go back and look at posts. With chat, you can't.

Well, back when I was new around here, it wasn't that way

chat used to be really busy... and a lot of funny shit went down. You'd even see a lot of artists pop in and answer some questions on occasion... even Synj was known to pop in, although he kinda ignored the non ass kissing fans for some reason.

it wasn't like the bbs of old wich was 100% picture spam and popularity contests held by ugly people and closet homosexuals.

But times change, and the fun has to stop.

I've went on the chat few times 'cos all the cool kids seemed to be doing it. It was pretty much either dead, or filled with unfunny faggotry. So yeah, BBS > Chat, also because you can view topics made before you logging in.

Well, as a new-age frequenter of both worlds, I can safely say that both have been very similar experiences to me. The chat offers an assload of idiots that join and suck, and the BBS offers the same. You've just got to sift through the idiots to find those that are worth it.

Things are eventually going to change in those aspects though, I'm pretty sure. Server move should help a lot in terms of how decent chat is (if not for any other reason than the server won't suck ass and shit out once a day).

Although as someone I've established to be a reasonable person, you have to admit that part of the problem to Newgrounds Chat being as dull as it often is could very well be the result of all the characters of old making new channels to avoid the idiots you get every once in a while.

How about having exciting people on who would make your dick shrivel cause you can't believe they're chatting with you. People like Yanni, or the pope, the old pope not the new one. Or increase the porn amount by 600%. Or talk about porn, with the pope, or porn you'd like to see the pope in. Porn the pope wouldn't be caught dead in but you know he'd probably enjoy deep inside his soul. Like produce porn. Produce porn with the pope conversations would make me visit the chat. Seriously, people who whip out some kickass flash coming into the chat to answer questions or whatever for a bit really livens the place up. Same goes for the two contests that have been held. Chat has its downtimes because the server shits on itself, or people are at school or work, but aside from that a lot of people don't even know that it exists. Some fun bbs threads (yeah they used to exist) have been plotted out in the chat.

Oh and to Evark, because the 4 reply rule is confining:

Yeah, I just started gracing the chat rooms recently. The novelty hasn't worn off yet.
Though I don't ever see it taking over the BBS on my personal NG communication opinion top ten thingie whateverI'mtrying to say.

Paragraphs and time to think and such. Chat's still kinda fun though. Usually more personal.
