3 ideas for the politics board

number one maybe a name change (i know it's been suggested before this really shud be discussed) maybe instead of politics it should be society since a lot of topics here are not just about politics but about religion, and well society in general. Just an idea

number 2, maybe a mod or sumtin to get rid of stupid spam postslike that bong or pipe one. Again proubly been posted b4 but humor me all right

I agree to changing the name but I disagree to changing the name to "society". I know that there are topics about abortion and all those things that are really about society but there are also topics that are about foreign relations. Foreign relations have nothing to do with the society, as society only centers on United States. The new name that I suggest for Politic forum is "Nation". Basically United States in general. In that case, we can not only talk about society in United States but also about foreign relations, like United States vs. Iraq and things like that.

but what about topics like cliques, or religion ands tuff nation wouldn't really cover that and theres also TONS of people here that arn't from the states and there are A LOT of canadains who post here reguallarly

Hmm... In that case, how about changing it to like 'World Issues'? Listing the issues of world and how to tackle it. In that case, A LOT of Canadian population in NG would not be offended, and we can still talk about current issues like United States vs. Iraq or issues in our society. Because it is world, all those Canadians can talk about their society as well. Issues does not only limit to foreign relations, but also society.

I really dont think you need to change the name for almost all world events falls under politics. If you dont look it as strictly government you can see that really every action that you do has power behind it and the politics or your method of reaction. So really any conflict falls under the catagory so it seems well suited.

And really, Politics is the best name possible for this board. It isn't just a name, it's a shield. It shields us from the name calling, the boorishness or the General board users. It keeps out the people who would post topics like "sex is fun" and "vote five on me movies".
It helps to draw in the conversational elite, the ones who can keep up a debate and actually discuss current affairs and issues.
In short the name Politics is like a sieve when you're making spaghetti. All the useless people that can't discuss anything other than Tricky the clown flow through, but the oh so valuable spaghetti stays and posts in the forum.
