Why all the homophobia?

I am astounded at the massive amount of homophobia on Newgrounds... I will save my personal thoughts on this for later posts, but my questions are: What are your thoughts/beliefes on homophobia, and why is there so much of it on Newgrounds?

Please keep a level head when posting... Let's try and be objective.

Well, I dont consider myself to be homophobic, gays/lesbians are just humans like the rest of us. Some people do seem to have a strange view of these people, seeing them as walking hell spawn who are going to bring down the human race with thier man on man kissing and snappy dressing........ these people I do not understand.

Hopefully someone will enlighten me on why these people are like this.

well to awnser your question i have no clue whatsoever, i am not homophobic in any way gays are gays and Straits are....well you get what i am saying. I just say let them be as they are not hurting anyone, only thing i ask is that you just dont bother with me as i am happy. The only reason for that is that i would probably feel uncomftorbal around one sociallt if they had a BF With them, Maybe if they were single then fine i feel ok but being around two guys holding hand like that is not for me sorry.

One good reason probably would be also that alot of people here on NG'S have religious beliefs which contributes, that or are just total morons by insulting people with the word FAG to much.(Exclude some british people from that as we use the word gay for things meaning they are well c**p like a tradition :S)

I would say it has a great deal to do with the fact that most of the newgrounds users are in high school or younger. People of that age rarely really understand homosexuality (they may know what it is but that doesn't mean that they understand it) and therefore tend to fear and mock it. At least that's been my experience with teenagers. Some of them understand, most of them don't.

The main reason I'm some what homophobic is probably due to the fact that I feel uneasy that these guys are checking me out, even though they most probably aren't. The main reason it is expressed a lot on Newgrounds is people can openly admit to this without being judged themselves.... that and the fact that 13 and 14 year olds are generally immature and just deny them.

Homophobia means a fear of Homosexuals. That is miles away from the truth, and the entire point of the word is a slander to call people who don't support the active expansion of Homosexuality "weak people who are frightened by the sight of a Homosexual." It's nothing even close to reality.

Put simply: There is no Homophobia on NG, as far as I've seen. Sure, we all use logic and clear thinking to argue that Homosexuals don't deserve more than Heterosexuals under the law, but that doesn't make us Homophobic.

I dunno whether this is the same in the office, but I doubt it. You can group kids in a classroom. You get the game fanatics, sports fanatics, fashion fanatics then total retards. My class is half of the latter. I can't go through a single lesson without having a 'Yer mum' or 'Gay spaz!' thrown at someone in the class. It's so pathetic that they rely on using a minority as an insult. (Did that make sense?) These guys will just label you for one mistake and use it against you for as long as your in purgatory with them. We have a few homosexual people in our school and people record them like some sort of animal in a zoo. No teacher tries to stop them, and it always makes me wonder if they think the same thing. It seems to pass from generation to generation, same as with all other prejudices.

Most people with homophobia the, real deal, are really afraid of gay people just like people with other phobias. I had a teacher who was afraid of the color yellow. When the school busses came around he would go into the teachers longue and wait for another teacher to come and tell him they were gone. My point is you can't help phobieas and you should feal sorry for them.

I disagree (with the first sentence). Marriage (i am assuming that we are talking church marriage) is a contract between two people of opposite sexes, and therefor two men or women can't get married. I do however believe that they should get something equivalent (sp?)
