Well being chased and pushing a door is understandable, the screamin one is just dumb. But yes panic causes your primal part of the brain to take more control.

lol this reminds me, I was at my friend Kristens house and we were taking down the X-mas tree and she pulled on it too hard and it started to fall over and she just stood there screaming until I caught it, its wierd how people just do not move and stand there and scream.

Actually, it's just that people don't have time to stop and think during an emergency.
If your finger was cut off, you would probably scream all sorts of stupid shit. Maybe not as stupid as "what's the number for 9-1-1" but nobody ever says that anyway. It's a stupid line from some stupid movie.
