First of all, I’d like to give a BIG thank you to Tom Fulp for giving me permission to make this post here on the Newgrounds BBS to share some information about the Crazy Monkey Games sponsorship program. Thanks, Tom! :)

We're always looking for more talented game developers to sponsor. If you have a game you’d like to submit for sponsorship consideration please email it to sponsor {at-nospam] crazymonkeygames.com .

CrazyMonkeyGames.com (CMG) has been around since September of 2004, and our sponsorship program has been around since March of 2005. You can read more about us here: About CMG.

To the best of my knowledge, we are the largest website (traffic-wise) of any site offering game sponsorship on the Internet today! We have the budget to offer very large sponsorships for high quality games. We also have the popularity and distribution network to put your games in front of millions of players and get your games the attention they deserve. We are well established as a quality, reputable sponsor. We’ve already sponsored many games from Newgrounds regulars over the last year, as well as many games from developers outside of the NG community.

Why are we sponsoring game developers? Well, obviously one of the reasons we’re doing this is to advertise CrazyMonkeyGames.com. Another reason is to give back to the Flash community that creates the games we love to play. We hope that by sponsoring game designers in this way they’ll be able to spend less time worrying about money and more time making great games for all of us to enjoy. Our goal is to help game designers support themselves while still being able to put out great games, keep their names in the credits, and freely distribute their games throughout the internet.

The basic rules of our sponsorship program are similar to most of the other sponsorship programs you’ve read about here: We pay you a cash sponsorship; you insert our site’s logo and link into your game and agree that it can be used on any website that wants to feature it. You can still keep your name and link in your game, and you keep the ownership rights to your game. You can read more details here if you’re interested: CMG Sponsorship info.

Our pledge is to always treat everyone professionally, fairly, and with respect. We’re very proud of the reputation our sponsorship program has earned. You can see a listing of all of the games we’ve sponsored here: CMG Sponsored Games . Most of the games there include the author’s website or email address within the game. I am confident that if you contact any of these authors to ask about us they will have nothing but good things to say about our sponsorship program. Many of them have had multiple games sponsored by CMG!

Here are some other things that set the CMG Sponsorship Program apart from the other sponsors out there:

--High score system: We have developed an advanced high score system that can be very easily integrated into any CMG-Sponsored game if the author wishes. If you’re interested in using our high score system in your game please email sponsor [–AT} crazymonkeygames.com for more details.

Our high score system is very secure (to keep out fake hacked scores) and allows players from all over the Internet to compete against each other by submitting high scores for your games. High scores can be submitted from any website that hosts your game. This means that people playing your game on Newgrounds.com, CrazyMonkeyGames.com, ArmorGames.com, Flashplayer.com, your own website, or any other website can all compete against each other for high scores!

The theme of your game’s high score page is also customizable to allow you to match the graphics and colors on your scoreboard to your game (or you can just choose to use one of our default scoreboard themes). You can see our system in action by viewing these examples of sponsored games that are using the highscore system:

Defend the North Pole (default scoreboard theme)

Nibbles (custom scoreboard theme)

Krazy Keyz (default scoreboard theme)

--Multiplayer development server: CMG operates a SmartFox multiplayer development server that is available for our sponsored developers to use free of charge. You can read more about the SmartFox Multiplayer Server technology at the Smartfox website. Accounts on our SmartFox multiplayer development server are available for any game developers who have previously been sponsored by us. Our goal with this is to provide talented Flash developers with a learning and development tool that they may not otherwise have access to. By helping you develop new skills you win, we win, and gamers all over the internet win.

We can’t give accounts out to just anyone, but any person who has proven their skills by having a game sponsored by Crazy Monkey Games is eligible for a free development account on this server to play with and learn from.

--Developer Appreciation Contests: We hold these drawings every now and then (usually around once per month) to show our appreciation for the talented developers who have allowed CMG to sponsor their games. Prizes vary, but are usually $100 for first place, $50 for second place, and a free CMG t-shirt for third. The prizes are awarded by random drawing and everyone who has had a game sponsored by CMG within the past year is eligible to win. Sure, it’s not going to make you rich, but who can complain about a free chance at $100 every month? ;)

To submit a game:
If you have a game you’d like to submit for sponsorship consideration please email it to sponsor {at-nospam] crazymonkeygames.com . We’ll evaluate your game and reply to let you know how much money we can offer you to sponsor it. There’s no obligation - You’re completely free to accept or reject the offer we make.

I’ll be happy to answer any questions either here on the forum or through email at sponsor (AT-nospam-AT} crazymonkeygames.com

Thanks,

John West

You got an account because Inglor gave you a good recommendation as a multiplayer developer. :) I'm looking forward to seeing your game!

Everyone else, if you have any games we'd love to see them. You can submit finished work OR work in progress to sponsor [NO@SPAM} crazymonkeygames.com.

I've had one game sponsored by CMG and I have nothing but good stuff to say about John. He shows respect for your work and recognizes your efforts.

I think the focus has been an awful lot on armor games lately but I think anybody who wants to have a game sponsored would be stupid not to show your work to both of them. Both are highly reliable and offer good money, so why wouldn't you check out what both have to offer you?

If anybody wants to ask anything else about my experience with CMG feel free to mail me (mail in profile).

I'm the first one to say good things about certein sponsors, well, CrazyMonkeyGames is one of those sponsors, they handled all the deals I've heard about fairly, and they pay well and on time.

I specially recommand them for multiplayer game developers since they run 2000$ worth of multiplayer servers, so if you ever need SmartFox, they got it.

I think I've seen similar things on some other sites, but as far as I know the "random game" link is an original CMG creation.

Yea, your highscore board is very secure. I have to say, out of all the score boards I tried to hack, 2 games that had your scoreboard in them were impossible for me to hack :), all the others I succesfully hacked :p

Are you saying that you were able to hack some of the highscore games using the CMG system, or that you were able to hack other games using other highscore systems? I haven't noticed any hacked scores so far in any of the games using our system.

If you were able to submit a fake highscore to one of the games using our system I'd really appreciate it if you could PRIVATELY email me and let me know which game and how you did it so that I can try to improve the security. Thanks!

not really

Because you can own at coding, but, whats a code without any graphics? (unless its API)

both animators and programmers get possibilities. Sure, if you are both an animator and programmer, kudos.

Also, CMG, thanks a lot for pointing all this stuff out. I'll keep you in mind to sponsor my soon-to-be-released game. ;) Its always good to know!

Thanks for the great response everyone!

Xelius, we're running SmartFox 1.3.0 Professional. We'll probably be upgrading to 1.4.0 Pro once it comes out of beta. It's DEFINITELY possible to get a multiplayer SmartFox game sponsored by CMG as long as it's well done and bug-free. We're very interested in sponsoring multiplayer games. If you'd like more info please feel free to email us at the address in my previous posts.

SaintShun, sorry, we're focusing completely on game sponsorship so that we can put all of our resources into helping developers make great games. We don't sponsor movies, but there are other sites out there who do. Good luck!

why not? If someone made an Addam phillips quality style of movie, and asked you to sponsor it, what would you do?

Or you could at least hold a contest for game intros... blah. Dont listen to me.

I read through your sponsorship program, and I don't think you'll accept my multiplayer game.

"you must ensure that the only version of the game that ever appears on the Internet is the version that contains all of the agreed upon logos and links. This means that you may not distribute the source files to your game or any versions of the game without the CMG logo and links."

You may have come across the Yahtzee game that comes as one of the smartfox examples, that's developed by me. So I guess I kind of blew it with that, but I'm sure a lot of people found it useful. =)

If you're still want to sponsor it, I can remake all the graphics if that makes any differens. But anyways, I'll make sure to contact you when my next multiplayer game is done, which will be a side scrolling "real time" co-op type of game using smartfox pro. Which leads me to my next question: Is it possible to create our own Zones/Rooms and Extensions on your smartfox server? In that case how?

Yes, unfortunately if the game's already being distributed freely without our logo we can't pay to sponsor it. I'm sure a lot of people did find it useful, though! :)

Great! That sounds like a game that we'd be very interested in sponsoring. If you'd like a development account on our server to test your game with just let me know.

Each developer using our dev server has their own separate instance of SmartFox running on a unique port, so you'll be able to create your own zones, rooms, and extensions, access the admin tool, restart your SF server, and modify all of the settings you want without interfering with the other developers' setups. You'll be able to test your games with up to 20 simultaneous players on the dev server. Once you get to the point where your game is ready to be released or you need to test with more than 20 simultaneous players we can copy your settings over to a production server.

I'll be happy to set up an account for you or talk this over in more detail. Shoot an email to sponsor (AT( crazymonkeygames.com if you're interested.

We're just choosing to specialize in doing what we do best: sponsoring games. Your artwork looks great though. If you're interested in teaming up with a coder to make a game I'm sure we'd be interested in it. Otherwise, I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting one of the movie sponsors to sponsor your movies. You're very talented!

Here's another great example of a game using the new CMG highscore system with a fully customized scoreboard:

Zombie Horde ii

If you load the game and click on "Survival High Scores" you'll see that the author was able to customize the scoreboard colors, graphics, etc. to match the theme of his game.

Remember, this highscore system is available to use in any games that are sponsored by CrazyMonkeyGames.com . Please feel free to email me with any questions or game submissions.
