If we dont get things fast, we decide not to get them at all.
Yes, you could spin this thread that way and look at it from a 'stop and smell the roses' standpoint. The human race is in a rush rush rush, and I wonder if it will plateau. I fear cultural things like language and art and the feeling you get when you just stand there for minutes on end on a beautiful, sunny day will become a thing of movies and books.

I have to disagree, the same people who post TLDR aren't the same people who are typing out hilarious one liners ... The only people who have the ability to consistently create short, entertaining posts are the ones writing long thought provoking ones as well.
You make a pretty good point. When I was putting my little speech together I was trying pitch it like, "don't worry about the TLDR's," rather than "they're not a problem." But, that's my error, since it could easily be read the same way.
Contrary to what you're saying though, I've seen one-liners from people who are not posting greats at all; new members (newbs, if you will) that have been absolutely hilarious. Usually it's the timing. But yes, the majority of those who master the one-liners are the good posters.

Believe it or not the purpose of the BBS is not to get a high post count (gasp!), but rather to talk about things that interest you with a bunch of like minded people.
Stuff is often better in theory than in practise, huh? Such is life.
Oh, and I hope it is unneccessary to post the three criteria you wanted, it should be clear that I read the whole thing and enough people have posted them already to make it irrelevant.
Ha ha, yeah. And the last two criteria things seem to be confusing a select few, who read them as having to be together.

However, this posting faux pas often goes away with time and experience on the boards.
For most people, at least.
You said that it would be dry if there were only intelligent, well thought out discussions on the boards. I disagree with you. It would probably make things a lot better on here.
Yes, I agree with your disagreement.
In retrospect, the only bad thing about all intelligent posts would be the feeling of obligation to post something lengthy or "well-thought-out" when you feel a zinger would do. And even that's not so bad. I guess my point, after revision, is that the one-liners and such have thier place.
But hey, that's just my opinion.
:o
PS...awesome thread.

I'll admit, I'm one of the people that oft gets upset at the prospect of my posts not being read, when I eventually do decided to make them of the long-winded variety. It pains me to see one of my marvelous pieces of gold sink via lack of collective attention.
It's never cool to have effort go seemingly unnoticed. At least this isn't real real life.
Still, I'll bear what you said in mind, and try not to shit it out verbally next time my rage rises.
Unless it's done with an array of pithy and entertaining adjectives and the like.

If it was done as I think, then the author is truly the one with lots of time on his or her hands.
Took about 40 minutes, tops.

I’m sad too that not everyone reads long posts, but you have to take into consideration what the goal of this forum is. For some, it’s to interact and have intelligent conversations (when possible), but for the majority, I think it’s just to goof off.
Point well taken.
I guess, after a while, you start to take the place maybe a little too seriously, whether you like it or not. The counter argument would be along the lines of: Goofing off? There are a million of things they could be doing to entertain themselves than metaphorically shitting all over other people's conversations. And they'd have more fun, too! But then you bring back the demographics. Sqaure one, yo.
There’s nothing you can change about that. I hate to stereotype, but when the average age of a NG user is 14-15,
Yes, that demographic.
what more do you expect? There really is no point in bitching about it, because if they aren’t here to read long posts/have no self-motivation to change, nothing’s going to happen.
Squashing my optimism, you are! ='(

Interesting. I'm not so sure it was necessart to make it vertical to prove you point, though.
Otherwise, it would have been repetitive... someone would demand I use a search bar and I'd be forced to agree with them.
