Ng flash viewing new protocol?

I dunno how late I am with this but Ng seems to have updated it's forwarding of swf from the server when viewing.
I'm quite acustomed to having to obtain the direct link to the swf and pluging it into my download manager to download then watch it ( old 56k days)
Tried that today and I got a NG swf declaring it's hosted soley on the site.
Anyone else aware of this or know how it can be avoided?
I'm not a thief btw...

You can put scripts in your flash to check the URL that it's loaded from, it may be just that flash.
Why don't you just click "play" like everybody else?

I want the flash to be on my computer.
I have a program that gives me the direct url to the .swf
I have quite a humongous 4gb collection thanks to NG, but now I can't get anymore :(

My Save As box gets refused for whatever reason, so I just copy and paste the link it gives me into the address bar, then go to File and Save page as.
Have you ever tried this with ng flash and it's non existant adress bar?
By forwarding the link I was easily able to directly download it. Now it reroutes the download to the NG host swf.

Why not just get the direct link from the page source? Stick the url in the address bar and hit Ctrl+S, works fine for me.

What you are doing is technically illegal. You do not have permission to download the .SWF and store it on your computer. This is as illegal as downloading a MP3 by Metallica, or whoever. When someone submits a Flash file to Newgrounds.com they are giving US permission to host it, and that's all. We don't have permission to give that file out to other people, other sites, etc.
We have changed the way we host out the files because there were many sites around the world directly linking to Flash files on our site. They were deep lnking, hot linking, or whatever you want to call it, which is illegal, but hard to stop.
LilJim has found a way to prevent most of the leeching.
It costs us money to send out the Flash files stored on our servers, so we require our visitors to view the various ads on the site to cover the cost. If you are bypassing the ads and downloading the file directly, you are stealing from us.

Well hell I didn't know all that...
If you send me a email I can make you a step by step list of how I founid how to do this, possibly even a video to help make it so it's harder to download things.
Didn't know this was bad... I was only saving things to show videos to frinds at school because I couldn't get though to newgrounds from there

This is what is killing my site. Some site in Poland has decided to capitalize on my flash stored on my server, and I have no clue how to contact them since the site is not in english. Basically, I have no where to go and they are sucking about 16% of my bandwidth a month.
The only real thing I can do is keep moving the swf file, which they always seem to find in the end.
Hi there!

Hey Thanks alot Wade for clearing that up!
Oh yeah this is totally off topic but I was wondering if we(Lgdvegetto & I ) may have your permission to post the end of SQFP series which hit front page awhile back.
I don't think you answered Lgd's emails yet.

So lemme ask now to prevent further delays...
*ahem*
Tom, Wade... May I have permission to submit SQFP3 Part 3 and SQFP3 Part 4? (Final parts of the series)
(SQFP = Sonic's Quest for Power :: The series is on the Sonic collection so far.)

It costs us money to send out the Flash files stored on our servers, so we require our visitors to view the various ads on the site to cover the cost. If you are bypassing the ads and downloading the file directly, you are stealing from us.
Considering that even the frontpage is rife with advertisements (OK, that sounded like a complaint. it wasn't) even navigating to the flash is likely to pass no less than 5 (I think) advertisements. I only see one when viewing flash. and if I bookmark the flash window itself, is that one ad going to counteract the bandwidth I use repeatedly downloading a 5Meg flash animation? Aren't I costing you money?
On top of that, the idea that flash producers aren't giving you permission to send their flash onto other people's HD's is kind of a weak front. we've already got their flash. It's about how we access it. and I don't think they'd care much.

Why would you want to download a movie when you could just watch it online?

When people are able to download the actual flash, what's stopping them from posting it on youtube and claiming it's theirs? Almost NONE of the flashes on this site use watermarks.
