This thread serves 2 purposes: first, a listing of those clubs that cannot be found using the current NG BBS search utility. Secondly, instead of making 2 threads, I'm also including my checklist for starting a club.

================================

Known evasive C&C topics, in chronological order or creation:

PS2 Crew
SK8 crew
RPG club
The D&D Crew
The 311 Crew
Rap Crew
Psp Crew
C.s.i. Club
Pc Club
The Ng Gym
Jew Crew
The War Crew
The Fma Club
NG Ska Crew
God Of War Club
Pie club!

FYI, many if not all of these or similar threads can be found through Google, by entering the keywords you're interested in and including site:www.newgrounds.com/bbs as a search term.

================================

My checklist for making a perfect club - I recognize that few clubs (if any) can exhibit all of these points in their entirety, but any new club must possess acceptable levels of the following in order to avoid getting shut down:

1.) A clear and complete listing of rules, regulations, and guidelines, covering technicalities of posting, membership, and any topical applications.

2.) A stated unique and useful purpose, not redundant or similar to any other club which has had any measure of success in the past. The purpose must not be condusive to spam, useless chatting, or unguided banter, and cannot be ridiculously obscure, specific, or tasteless.

3.) A mention of a possible target audience on NG, who would find utility in being a member of your club/crew), as well as how such users could help achieve the stated purpose(s) by being in the club.

4.) A delineation of membership - possibly including (but not limited to): how to join, rankings & determination, useful activities, expectations, etc.

5.) Enough of a following to merit being a club, separate from any others that may be similar to or more encompassing than it.

6.) Clear, coherent writing exhibiting competency as well as invested time and thought.

7.) Compliance with the BBS Rules as well as any other explicit or implied rules, such as those posted publically by a moderator / administrator of the NG BBS. Common sense applies.

Also, Read This Before Making A Club!

I think there's a 24 club somewhere, but that *may* have died.

1.) A clear and complete listing of rules, regulations, and guidelines, covering technicalities of posting, membership, and any topical applications.

To add to this, your list of rules should include something that isn't already covered in the BBS rules, which cover your club automatically. 95% of new threads I see say things like "rules are no spamming or flaming (usually misspelt) and have fun" - non of which are actually required and it shows the topic creator has put next to no thought into the club and is asking for a lock.

You might want to check this out AT one point I was trying to Wade or liljim to make a sticky topic for this forum like audio and flash.

For the people that wants to start a Club or Crew, please take your time to read this before make one:
--------------------------------------

1) Use the search box to see if there's not a club like that! If you see there is a club for it but hasn’t been used in sometime. I would say over 6 month, or if the thread has 300 post or more you should email an active mod see if it is ok to start a new thread.

2) When making a club use some effort used in making the club. It not required that the a club to have rules or guidelines, yet having them shows the moderators you have put thought into the club. Just putting down a single line shows you have not put much thought into the club. Give your club a good purpose with the first post and a direction for it to go, but don’t waste time and a post just duplicating stuff already in the BBS rules.

3) When making a club, stop and think. "Hmm, does the Newgrounds BBS really need a club like this? And, what are the chances that this club has already been made?" Do not make flash clubs or collaboration threads they will just get locked or deleted. The same thing goes for user appreciation clubs.

In other words, NG doesn't need a "Butter Club" and we most likely already have a Final Fantasy Club, so there is basically no need to post any new threads in Clubs and Crews, whatsoever.

4) When posting in a club, ask yourself, "Could I say this on AIM or some other major IM system?" If you are saying, "Hi, how was everyone's day?" and your club is about Megaman, that isn't really pertaining to Megaman, and is basically the reason why these clubs are all 200 + pages. In other words, don't post in your club just for the sake of posting.

5) Don't post just to bump your club, unless you have something actually LEGITIMATE to say. Countless amounts of time we have users saying, "Oh my God guys, I can't believe our club is on the third page, BUMP!" That causes clubs that no one cares about to keep on the front page. If your club does not get posts in it, obviously no one is interested in it. It's simple logic, use it.

6) When you see a new club, that breaks one of the rules, don't post in it saying, "OGM YOU n00b, THERE ALREADY IS A CLUB FOR THIS!!" Simply ignore it, and allow it to sink to the bottom. If the user continues to bump it up, a moderator will deal with it. Posting in the club just keeps the club on the front page, exactly what you are trying to NOT allow happen. By posting in a club that is illegitimate, you are just annoying the moderator, and will most likely end up getting banned for it. If you really have a problem with it, and no one is dealing with it, email a moderator with your complaint. Give it a day or two before sending your email.

7) Flaming a club simply because it is more popular than your own club, is stupid and pointless, and should only be done in a limited amount. If you are posting in a club everyday to call everyone in it derogatory names, then you will be banned. On the contrary, if someone points out something in your club, and you complain about that person posting in your club, and it is an illegitimate complaint, the moderators will just take you less seriously. So don't become the whiney kid in class who bitches about every minor thing. When in doubt email a mod instead of flaming back.

8) Posting a member list every five posts is pointless and a stupid way to bump up your thread, and should be avoided. Maximum times you are allowed to post a member list is once per page. This prevents spamming up your own thread.

9) Posting for the sake of raising your thread's replies, is against the rules. If you are posting the same thing over and over again, and you are spamming your thread with useless replies and constantly repeating yourself, your club will most likely be locked, or else you will be banned, depending on the severity of the problem

10) Try to avoid joining every single club you see, just for the sake of putting them all in your signature. Being a devoted member of three or four clubs maximum will cause less quick, one word, unthoughtout replies, and therefore eliminate needless spam in Clubs. Most club owners who are actually serious hate it when someone joins eighty different clubs, because there isn't enough time to post in all of them anyway, so why bother?

11) If you are a club owner, you are not the omni-prescene of the thread, you do not have the final say in anything, the moderators of the BBS do. Some people think that they can have users banned from their thread, simply because they don't like what the user is saying. If you have a complain, contact a moderator, and we will look into it. Once you have emailed or contacted us, leave it at that. Don't create a giant flame war inside your thread, because that will just escalate the problem, especially if you are wrong about the person, which may end up with your thread being locked.

12) Above all else, use common sense when posting in Clubs and Crews. Yes, it is easy to get away with stuff in that section, but you shouldn't use it as a place to spam and raise your post count. This section was created for users to share interests in things that they both enjoy, and talk about them in a BBS setting. If you use your head, chances are you will avoid breaking all the rules set out.

I think I just discovered every Nintendo DS fanboy's perfect club:

Offical Nintendo DS club
The "DS" cannot be searched, meaning woe for those trying to find it. Thought it'd be best posted here.

Yeah I had a few like that, that can't be searched directly, but aren't as bad as some others:

The Nintendo Ds Wifi Club
Group X Fan Club
Creative Art Crew [cac]
Mötley Crüe Clüb

The club I intented to found is about Warhammer miniatyre wargame... Dark elves alias Druchii is one of the armies u can play... so I have no intention to for example sacrifice anyone on the altar of Khaine, that is actualy just a pice of fluff of the game...

surely for terms under 3 letters, you could simply put 'crew' or 'club' AND THEN type the subject you were looking for

or does that not work?

I hardly ever come here anymore....

If you type Crew or Club, it will track that word first. This will print out a result in which every topic with that word will show up.

it doesn't search for anything with 3 characters or less no matter what else is there.

It also organizing things chronologically by last response. So if the thread is old, its later in the list.

Shouldn't you keep these two threads on the Front page? I always see some club or other breaking the rules, and almost all of them are created by new members or members with a low post count and no knowledge of BBS rules and traditions.

Hopefully you don't mind me doing this. I'd like to expand the recources in this thread. As a way of allowing people to see what doesn't work in a better way. I have created a linked list of all locked clubs from this last week to serve as a guide of "what not to do". If a mod doesn't mind, I might do this every week, otherwise let me know and I'll stop after this one. I'm not giving the locked clubs attention so much as showing what isn't a good idea.

Locked Clubs for the week Wednesday Janeray 24 - Tuesday January 31 2006
Sock Crew
The Ninja Clan
The Ninja Clan (continued)
Ninjas 4 Life
Ninjas4life
The club for noobs
Yoshi's Club
Airsoft Players
LoZ Club
Ministry of Chaos
Hippy Crew
Shadow of the Colossus Collab
Gif Crew
The My Chemical Romance Club
drummers club
The Barney Blammers
S.s Army
NG Gangstas
The Rouge's and Rebel's Crew
hot pic club
Yo join the nfl club
portal reapers
Texas Holdem crew
Weird Dreams Club (wdc)
retarded club
Level 3
The Ng Red Cross
The Wpgf Crew
NG Government
canabis & hemp club

Once again, this list was a list of things Not to do.

Also a means of bumping this thread for exposure.
