I've ordered a modchip for my PS2 (DUO 2 SE, to be exact) and I can't find any good tutorials on taking apart the PS2. The modechip is going to be at my house on Tuesday, so it would be nice if I would know by then.

Well, anyways, I've found some tutorials, and it's gotten me far, but not enough to get access to the motherboard. I need pictures, and good ones at that. I just feel like an idiot because I can't finish taking it aart. And since I've forgot where the brass screws go in one step, and the pictures in that tutorial aren't that great, I can't tell where to put them back. So I'm stuck until I find a better tutorial.

I HAVE Googled it...

I remember G4 had a good tutorial on taking PS2s apart, It is for the disc read problem, but you can follow it up to a point.

I've took a ps2 apart countless number of times and it tells you when you google "ps2 disk read error"

Even though it's a lens cleaning guide it'll tell you how to get to the motherboard

Modding is illegal so you won't find anything on goggle. Hope the chip comes with instructions.

Hold a screwdriver in your left hand and a hatchet firmly in your right. Swing the hatchet at your PS2 until there is a large gash across the top. Continue to gouge it until all of the working parts lie in pieces, alternating between the screwdriver and hatchet. Then, build a large bonfire in your backyard and throw the useless hunks of plastic and electronics in there.

Then buy a new PS2.

Modding IS legal, but it voids your warranty.

Wow, goggle.com took me to some anti-virus advert. Clearly a more effective search engin than your feeble "google"

My PS2 is a total peice of junk. I have no idea whats wrong with it. It keeps making this scratching noise, wont read my discs, then leaves me with a totally destroyed cd.

I adventure into the ps2 somethimes. I just unscrew it, take the cover off, slap the cd drive a few times, and reverse the process.

Never works, but it makes me feel big.

I fix computers etc and tried fixing my old ps2 but the best option was to get a new one.

Trust me, it's cheaper to buy a new one rather than repair it

Is a version that shows you how to mod a PS2 without a mod chip for less than $10, safely and eaily in under 30 minutes, but it doesn't show you how to do it with a modchip, obviously.

I may actually try this, but I doubt it seeing as I <3 my PS2 too much to take the chance of damaging it.

meh you don't need instructions, when mine broke, I opened it up and started digging around, I didn't fix it, but it didn't seem that hard to figure it out though and put back together.

Well, I see where the screws go, but I'm not sure where to fit the Memory Card/Controller port prongs into. Oh, yeah, I have a V7 PS2...If that helps...

That's the slim one, right?

You know how fucking hard that can be to mod?

Just because it's illegal doesn't mean you won't find it on Google.

No, the slim models are V12-V15...And the modding isn't hard, it's just taking the PS2 apart and putting it back together that's hard. The mod chip is just soldering.

You should look in the PS2 manual, or maybe the chip comes with instructions.

I have taken apart a PS2 several times, but only because I needed to clean it. I don't know if that might help :P

If you can't find a door, make one. Because it certainly won't fucking make itself.
