The blue Shell in Mario Kart DS.

First place for me is a tie between the Golden shroom and the Star. The golden shroom gives you infinite boosts, which allows you to take as many shortcuts as you want, and the star speeds up your cart, makes it invunerable, and allows you to bash into your slower enemies. The golden shroom is more common, though.

Second place goes to Bullet Bill. It turns you as fast as a speeding bullet (Ow, bad pun. >_<) and runs you into opponets, damaging them.

Third is the scourge of 1st place hoggers everywhere, The spiny shell. There is nothing that can stop it from ruining your race if you are in 1st, and, if 2nd or 3rd are close enough, the explosion will hit them too.

The most overrated item is lighting, all it does is makes the karts smaller and allow you to run over them. It also makes them slightly slower. Big deal.

The worst item HAS to be the blooper. all it does is spay ink on the top screen, and all you need to do then is drive using the map screen. (It works, trust me.)

1 Star, I love speeding up and crashin' over everyone that is stupid enough to get in my way.
2 Golden Shroom, One of these got me from 7th place to 3rd in about 3 seconds.
3 Blue shell, I never use them, but when i'm in second and I see one coming on the map, I avoid the explosion and suddenly...1st!

I hate single bananas, bananas do nothing but slow you down a bit anyway. but i like triple bananas.

ghost because if your always in 1st place you really dont get anything but ya get the ghost so you can just steal a blue shell or star or lightning(owned)

The Blue Shell is a bastard and is always used on me, but I love using it on other players.

the star is a great all around item.

however i am a crackshot with a green shell so ill say that

They should have added the feather as a power up in MKDS, it was great for dodging those red shells and cutting those corners in Mario Kart for snes.

Anyway, Boo is a favourite of mine as it annoys people when you steal their stash of mushys.

The lightning Bolt, It could bring you up to first in a heart beat...

this is kinda a gay topic{though I never really made anything better} but i'll say mine anyway.The big bowser shell in double dash was cool.

Probably the lightning bolt, it can let you overtake loads of enemies. The star's also a real good one, it lets you go really fast to overtake enemies, and hurts them if you crash into them.

I think it's that Blue shell on MKDS (I forgot the name). It may be annoying if it's used on me, but at least if someone is ahead of me and someone behind uses it on the leader, that will at least give me a chance to try and get to 1st place. :)

Couldn't agree more, but I think the coolest power up is the one that makes you turn into bullet bill and rocket ahead a few places.

The feather from super mario kart, cmon, who does not want to do special shortcuts and cut corners.

The Triple Red Shell is the best item in the game. Not only does it offer great defence once it's deployed, but after it is deployed you can also grab another item in your slot. You can fire them backwards or forwards, and if fired forwards than there is almost a guarantee of a hit.

Offensivly, defensivly, can be shot anywhere, can allow for another item to be held and they're homing. Yup, the perfect item.

I'm only taking MK64 into consideration here, since it's the best one in my opinion.

I think the three red shells are the most usefull, alot of people say lightning but since you only get that when you're in last place it's always going to be usefull to you anyway.

Alot of people are also saying the banana is shit, but that trail of bananas you got could really fuck someone just behing up if you use it right.

I sure am a big fan of the feather, it's saved me many times on those stupid ghost house levels, but I still have to go with the lightning bolt. I can't even begin to count how many times it's pulled me out of a sticky situation and left me in first place.
