It appears I'm missing 29 users from that list, so I hope to be able to find them soon.

That's not a problem at all. Right now, I'm aiming for #333 and I'm only a few ranks away from there now. But looking at the users above me, the ones I'm most likely to pass soon are Andersson (sorry :( ), Error and JerkClock. This shall be interesting.

Only 9 more spots to go before I can come in here to socialize. Technically I think this breaks the rules too, so I'll just step outside for a few weeks until I can come in.

You are the man Bahamut!! This was my favorite of the lists back when it was updated regularly. It'd be sweet if you got the level pics and stuff like it used to have. But this is more than I'd ever hoped for after the Newgrounds update. I appreciate the effort it must've taken to put this together.

And then the redesign's fairly epic list failure (the whole "lists not updating for months and months and months" part being worse lessened the impact of no 51+ lists, I think) kinda dashed those hopes and wishes, alas.

Fortunately we still have a decent-sized and talented crop of stat-dedicated listmakerers to fill the gap left by NG's top-50-and-only-50-philia.

Actually, make that 30. Yesterday, I saw a user who was listed TWICE! So I've removed the duplicate.

Also, despite the amount of users I'd be missing out on, I'm thinking of extending the list to all users with 8,990+ EXP.

I was wanting to get the levels up on this update, but sadly the formulas didn't agree with me. To start off with, I would have just displayed the level number of each user.

You'd need green, red and yellow aura users to make it look more christmassy, but to keep it simple, we'll all stick with blue to go with the winter theme. :P But of course, you don't ever want to change auras, so we'll all have to be green.

And now BlueAsterisk has fallen all the way down to 62. Myself, I'm still surprised I've passed some former Top 50 EXP users from 2004 (e.g. PrikedElik). Heh, in 2 years time, I'll have more EXP than BlueAsterisk.

Which was pretty much my point when I said (way back and what pretty much started all this) that you're only as high rank as you feel. Do you think bomb feels he's at a high rank? Maybe he does, but I'm willing to bet he'd give his right foot to be number 1 and, until he does, he's not 'truely' happy. We're always running and running and, in the end, all that seems to matter is our relative position to the next in line, which is why so few seem to be really happy with the rank they're in.

And even Pimp probably isn't all that pleased with the situation, since he's constantly looking over his shoulder and seeing us all chasing after him...

In the end, I recon that the best thing to do is simply enjoy the trip / exp grinding and hope that Tom changes those crappy 51-53 levels icons (man, they suck so bad when compared to the rest of the level 50's...).

Today will be a day for me to remember, as I finally reached the 50th rank mark.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!! After receiving the 17th July 2007 Top 2000 EXP users update from gfoxcook, I had a look through most of the users and was able to find EVERYONE who has at least 10k EXP! So no need to worry about any missing 10k+ EXP'ers until a few months time.

You know, if I was #2 in EXP, I'd probably be like that. Sure, I'd feel high rank enough, but I wouldn't be truly happy until I'm #1. However, right now, I can't complain about my EXP rank. It would be nice if I was further up, however. ;)

I highly doubt those level icons will ever go, unless there'll be another redesign in 5 - 10 years time. :P

Also has the bonus of the 9000-10000 area being a sort of "catch 'em if you can" gap. If it's not 100% accurate between 9k and 10k on some updates, so be it. But you can focus on getting people before they hit 10k if you miss them before they hit 9k, and that way you can probably increase the accuracy (and how easy it is to keep it accurate) of the 10,000 and up portion of the list. Woot, woot.

I can point you to several thousand profiles that show people with 0 b/p, and they most assuredly are not listed as rank #0.

They're listed as rank #500,000 or #600,000 or so, tied with tens... er... make that hundreds of thousands of other non-b/pers behind them in signup date or exp or whatever NG's using nowadays.

I've mentioned plenty of times how I doubt I'll deposit forever with gfox.

Sure. Hell, I just missed a deposit on gfoxclock and gfox yesterday, and because I didn't like the idea of gfoxclock being 20 exp behind gfoxcook (in the last two digits of exp only, I mean), but then gfox being 10 exp behind him still, I'm letting gfox miss a 2nd deposit in a row today so the three accounts will be 20 exp apart now instead of 10 exp apart (which I put into place after a similar missed deposit incident ruined my "all accounts have the same last two digits of exp" perfection).

In my defense, the reason I didn't alt deposit yesterday is that I deposited while protecting in the portal on gfoxcook late Friday night/early Saturday morning, and then after sleep and much of Saturday's events, I tried to deposit for gfoxclock (and would have then gone on to do so for gfox), because I didn't think I had yet, but all the BEEBO and Marc M movies I vote on every day to deposit for my two alts now (now that gfoxcook deposits by UJ voting) said I'd already voted on them.

Which it also says today.

I noticed Tom Fulp posted that P-bot broke down on 8/01 and didn't post at the start of 8/02 or 8/03, and I'm pretty sure the cause of that is the same thing as the cause of movies not "clearing" your IP these past two days and letting you vote on them again even though you haven't voted on them in well over 24 hours.

So anyway, that lameness convinced me I had deposited on my two alts and just forgotten I had, back before I went to sleep early Saturday morning.

So anyway... I'll only be clogging 1 (2 tops) spots in the top 50, most likely. Let's not even get started on the top 10.

Which was pretty much my point when I said (way back and what pretty much started all this) that you're only as high rank as you feel. Do you think bomb feels he's at a high rank? Maybe he does, but I'm willing to bet he'd give his right foot to be number 1 and, until he does, he's not 'truely' happy. We're always running and running and, in the end, all that seems to matter is our relative position to the next in line, which is why so few seem to be really happy with the rank they're in.

Our current convo was started by whatever you're referring to "way back?" Are you sure you can directly trace this back, man? Because such topics are basically omnipresent in the list topics. They come up from time to time no matter which user or users bring them up, and they're usually fairly repetitive.

But A) time passes, and things are worth discussing again.
And B) sometimes something new is brought up, or a different angle on an old topic makes it even more worthwhile to dig back up.

No, I'm fairly sure Pimp is pleased as punch. HT and Shrapnel "gave up," and his main competition is thus basically dead. His future competition is all distant compared to the way it used to be.

In the end, I recon that the best thing to do is simply enjoy the trip / exp grinding and hope that Tom changes those crappy 51-53 levels icons (man, they suck so bad when compared to the rest of the level 50's...).

Well, the users with 8990 - 8999 EXP would tell me if there's any missing users in between them and those with 9k EXP.

Also has the bonus of the 9000-10000 area being a sort of "catch 'em if you can" gap. If it's not 100% accurate between 9k and 10k on some updates, so be it. But you can focus on getting people before they hit 10k if you miss them before they hit 9k, and that way you can probably increase the accuracy (and how easy it is to keep it accurate) of the 10,000 and up portion of the list. Woot, woot.

Oh yes, the P-Bot problem that happened recently. Me and Afro_Stud noticed that minor problem as well. Oh well, they've fixed it, so no need to worry about it for now. Of course, the problem is likely to happen again sometime.

Of course, I am quite concerned about them. Right now, I don't have the majority of those users and this time next year, it could be quite a problem if most are still not on the spreadsheet. For now, no need to worry about the current 5k EXP'ers.

Oh, but over the last 2 days, I've become a whole 3 places closer to the top 50. It was completely unexpected as well, as I'd been rising really slowly since entering the top 250 :P

well speaking of passing idle people, I remember watching Yume clime up from just below the top 10 then up to 7. Now he just another older user falling to the side. Even watching two 99 standards slowly fall is sad. I know the circumstance of why, so it is happy in a way for them. So it will be a slow climb 4 months to get past both
