Okay.

We have to ban fab first, though.

Of course I'm a homodragophobe. That's why I hate Fagamut so much.
OH NOE. ;_;

Consider themselves lucky that I don't rule a dragon universe. :P

I got YouTube-trapped the other day.
Do tell. Whatcha see?

Have you ever heard of a guy named Irate Gamer? I had to see some of his videos after hearing all the criticism he's received for copying the Angry Video Game Nerd. After seeing some of his videos, I do agree with the critics. However, there are other reasons why he's one of the most hated people on the Internet.

Whilst I was YouTube-trapped, I had a look at videos from several users sharing their thoughts on Irate Gamer. Pretty interesting, I thought.

Yes I got him. He was in the Mii Parade and not sent right to the Mii Plaza. Oh well, your Mii character's there now and he's great! :D Does your gfox Mii look very much like you in real life? :)
Awesome.

Except that I don't wear sunglasses constantly and don't have gray hair, yeah, pretty much.

Yeah, I had a feeling the grey hair wasn't accurate. The sunglasses, however, might have been possible. :P Then again, how many times have I used the sunglasses post icon in my posts? I rarely wear sunglasses in real life.

Oh, and Graham, Luke, Trish and myself have been sent to you. Enjoy those Miis.
Did you send them straight to my mii plaza or something? I've never sent miis that way, I sent mine to you via typing up a message to you, and slapping my mii in the mii slot of the letter. Maybe that's why he went to the parade? Go to the letter and see if there's any other option.

They should have been sent straight to your Mii Plaza. That's what happened when Afro_Stud sent his. I guess because of that message you sent me, your Mii went to the Mii Parade.

Hey, depending what happens to iscrulz with his Top EXP users update, I might run the updates myself.
Hot piss, that's another piece of the puzzle of the 'New Wave' of NGers taking over the Stat lists.

Hey, after the death of the Top 2000 EXP users, it's been difficult keeping track on who we can pass soon and who we cannot. A monthly EXP update would be nice, just like ramagi's list when she was still making them.

Mostly, yeah. The things that don't make it look like me IRL are the moustache and the eyes.

Well, I went into the Mii channel to find 'em. I got yourself, I got Trish, and I got Luke. But you sent Trish twice and didn't send Graham.

What? I didn't send Graham? Damn! I'll sort that out the next time I'm on the Wii.

I just sent you my Check Mii Out Artisan.... Rene Magritte! (named after my favourite painter of all time)... and gfox again, so you can see what the "ghosting" effect is like like when you sent Trish twice by accident, I presume. #;-}>

Alright, they'll arrive on my Wii soon.

By levels, I hope you mean rank spots, or rankings?

Yes, sorry for the mistake.

Does that mean we have a exp-grinder who literaly "grinds" the oposition? A NG that addict who's seen to many Madness Combat movies? A long time NGer who wants-to-reach-the-number-1-spot-so-that -he-can-take-over-NG-and-make-it-dedicat ed-to-cat-dynamics?
If so, then who is the killer? And who's the next victim? And how did he kill them? And (etc.).
If so.... I have just one thing to say that badass mofo:

Thanks!

Well, given the almost total lack of response (but thanks for taking the time, gfoxcook, you always seem to indulge me and my more ridiculous posts), I guess I shouldn't have taken the silly route with this post.

Doesn't anyone else find it curious that so many rank gains would occur in such a small time? I'm so used to gaining a rank every few months that to have it all happen so quickly was very strange... I can't even remember when I gained 4 ranks in the space of a month.

(for lack of a better name)

Yeah, I had a feeling the grey hair wasn't accurate. The sunglasses, however, might have been possible. :P Then again, how many times have I used the sunglasses post icon in my posts? I rarely wear sunglasses in real life.

Well, I often wear them while driving or walking outdoors during the summer, but I just mean that my Mii has them on all the time, so... yeah, the gray hair is certainly far more inaccurate.

But I hated the way the blond hair options looked, especially with teh lovely green mii colourscheme.

There's nothing suspicious about it. People who don't deposit are sometimes spread out throughout the exp rankings landscape, and other times they cluster up... when you are benefitted by the latter, you shouldn't automatically assume that some sort of FORCE OF NATURE (like gravity) is at work. It COULD just be a coincidence. #;-}>

Now, if *I* were to gain 4 rankings in a month starting today, and move up from #63 to #59... yes... something weird would indeed be afoot! But you're not quite in my boat yet, sir. Don't get ahead of yourself!

Well it is, obviously a coincidence, but a curious (as I said, can't remeber when this sort of thing happend last) and happy one (+4 ranks = <insert smiley face here>).

<cough>

Honestly, I don't mean to disagree, well, actually, I do mean to disagree, but when you reach the top 150 or so, ranking up normally takes quite a while, which makes this is a kinda excepcional event, in my experience. As I said, I normally would expect to gain a rank, say, every month or so. To be able to gain 4 times that much in the same period is pretty rare.

Not that I think that it's anything but a fortuitous coincidence (i.e., I don't honestly think of foul play or the likes, I was merely jesting). Just commenting on a small, not very important, but which (I found) interesting fact. Maybe I should restrict my attention to other, bigger things.

Sorry for barging in on the conversation but I completely agree that you should take a gander at other BIGGER things. For instance, "Like does this aura match my level?" ;-)D

But in seriousness, I do slightly missed the those days when moving up at 50 exp rank a day, it was a almost like a Salmon run. +4 at this stage niegh impossible in this honey mold.

Dude, you're ranked #90. It wasn't THAT long ago that I was ranked #90, and one thing I know for sure is this:

Actually, and I'm a bit embarassed to admit this, notice how I put a asterisk on the "mother language" part? Well, I was going to add the following phrase at the end of my post which would have cleared up things considerably:

*But, having lived in England for no less than four years, I guess that really isn'y a excuse.

So, yeah. I'm guessing a public humiliation is coming, right?

It may have happend, sure, but even then it'll probably have happend, what once? Maybe twice. That's pretty rare in my book. In any case, see below.

No that's nothing like what I said and I have to be completly honest with you, I have no idea how you infered what I wrote meant that. X_X

I'm perfectly aware of all you're saying. I honestly feel this isn't an argument, since I agree with pretty much everything you said... I wasn't trying to make a point with my post, I was just trying to point out a fact that I belived was pretty interesting coincidence at the time (and I still do, since, as I said, I've gotten pretty used to slowly ranking up). That's it. Maybe I expressed myself poorly (as usual, <sigh>) for which I apologize, but that's all there is.

In all sincerity, this is all a bit pointless.

Yep, that's pretty much how I feel too. Still, it does make each time you pass all the more satisfactory. It's bit like moving up from cheap wine to the good stuff, you drink alot less of it, but when you do, it's all the sweeter!

Actually, since I barely drink alcohol, let me change that to something like, hmm, errr, <grunt>, chocolate! Yes, chocolate! You know, when you, err, go from low cocoa content chocolate to the ultra bitter stuff, you, <cough>, eat less of it, but it's all the sweeter(?). Hmm, ok, maybe that wasn't the best analogy.

Comparatively speaking, it took me less time to get from #300 to #250 than it did for me to get from #350 to #300.

Now that I've passed Zendra, I might be keeping tabs on how long it takes me to get up to toe top 200. I think around a year and I'll be inside the top 200 ranks.

Also, if you refuse to watch them due to possible YouTube traps, I understand.
I'll watch 'em some other time, not feelin' like a trap right now, yeah.

Haha, of course. Avoiding is sometimes a better option incase you end up watching every video you can find. ;)

What about black or brown?
Huh? Did you miss the part where I said I have blond hair and I didn't like the way the blond Mii hair looked with my Mii face, and also my green Mii shirt? O_o

Black or brown woulda been just as inaccurate as gray, and far less cool. So I went with gray.

I thought black or brown wouldn't have been so bad, but grey surprisingly works great. :O

Yeah, I've reached #251 this very morning and I'm only 10 points behind someone I actually recognise - Zendra. That would be both awesome and a little sad that I've knocked someone such as Zendra out of the top 250 experienced

Oh, I thought you already were at #251, I musta misinterp'ed. #;-}>

Well, it sucks on the one hand if it happens, but at least you'll probably remember who you passed to hit the top 250, as opposed to it being some nameless schmoe.

Alternatively, of course, it could end up that Zendra keeps 10 aheada ya and you end up passing someone else to enter the top 250, right?

So, yeah. I'm guessing a public humiliation is coming, right?

Not really, seeing as how I already said that SOME (key word) 13 year olds who've lived in America (or England) for all their life display far worse English skillz than most non-native English speakers on this forum, so...

It may have happend, sure, but even then it'll probably have happend, what once? Maybe twice. That's pretty rare in my book. In any case, see below.

I never denied it was rare. #;-}>

So what you're saying is that all ranking up before you get into the top 150 is equally easy... and all ranking up AFTER you get into the top 150 is equally hard?
No that's nothing like what I said and I have to be completly honest with you, I have no idea how you infered what I wrote meant that. X_X

I took what you said to the logical extreme. It's a debating... er... punditry technique. #;-}>

Kinda like playing devil's advocate.

It took me a long time to get from #100 to #90.
It took me even longer to get from #90 to #80.
It took me even longer to get from #80 to #70.
And it's taking me even longer to get from #70 to #60.

Are you catching my drift here?
Well, I could be all sarcastic and say something like "You don't say, captain obvious", but I don't want to needles antagonize you.
=]

Needlessly antagonising FTW!

It's interesting that your only experience living in an English-speaking nation was in England itself, yet you for some reason learned to spell "ize/ise" words with the far inferior (IMO) z-American spelling, rather than the s-British spelling. Any story behind that?

Me, I love the "ou" instead of "o" and "s" instead of "z" spellings so much more than in informal internet typing, I use the British versions on purpose. If I'm writing in a school or job related context, I write the American way. It's really amazing how I can do all of that with fairly little thought required. #;-}>

One thing I don't agree with the British way, however... is in respect to the pronunciations of words like "schedule" and "aluminum," of which I far prefer the American English versions.

No, but you should realise that what you now consider slow going is going to feel super fast in about a year when you're ranked #75 or so and having a bitch of a time getting just to #74, let alone +4. #;-}>

What else is new? #;-}>

Seriously, dude. What is life but a series of, it could be claimed, "pointless" discussions.

Vive le communications!

Anyway, if all you were trying to say was that passing four people so quickly is quite unusual for where you are in exp rank, then I would have heartily agreed with you and that woulda been the end of it, but the way you originally said it was far from that, in how I interpreted you:

"Doesn't anyone else find it curious that so many rank gains would occur in such a small time? I'm so used to gaining a rank every few months that to have it all happen so quickly was very strange... I can't even remember when I gained 4 ranks in the space of a month." - Teh Vert

The fact that you used words like "curious" and "strange" and then asked if anyone else found it so, made me perceive you as having a tone of... almost suspicion.... about how such a thing could happen. And so I responded to your question (I hope it wasn't rhetorical #;-}>) by adopting the "skeptical" position, you could say.

If I threw a wet blanket on your party, I do apologise. #;-}>

But you will no doubt remember that when many folks threw a wet blanket on a prior party of yours, I was the only one who said "yeah, I get this Vert guy. He's cool." #;-}>

Comparatively speaking, it took me less time to get from #300 to #250 than it did for me to get from #350 to #300.

That may very well be, but it's probably not true for the majority o' folks going from 350 to 300 compared to going from 300 to 250.

Now that I've passed Zendra, I might be keeping tabs on how long it takes me to get up to toe top 200. I think around a year and I'll be inside the top 200 ranks.

Cool.

You know what, though? Your comment about your own 50-chunk abberation... makes me want to look into my own WILD CLAIMS to Vert about my own exp ranking progress. LET'S GO!

...

Okay, on the first day I logged data on NG Log (4/09/06), my exp rank was #97... so I can't accurately capture when I was at #100 via NG Log... and unfortunately, I logged fairly sporadically until January 2007, so.... I'll just have to... try and find #90 here... let's see.

I was ranked #91 (+2 since last log) on 6/21/06...
I was ranked #90 (+1 since last log) on 7/04/06...
I was ranked #88 (+2 since last log) on 7/11/06...

Those three logs were the only logs within that period... so unfortunately I can't pin down #90 exactly... it could have been hit anywhere between 6/21 and 7/04 of 2006, clearly.

BAH... screw this. :::goes over to old desktop computer and finds his old stat log text files, which he kept every day from January 2003 until 1/01/2007, four years later:::

GOT IT (both the #100 timerange and the #90 timerange! For 80 and onwards, I can use NG log... well, I'll have to, so good thing!)...

Okay:

Rank #100 - 1/29/06-2/08/06
Rank #90 - 6/24/06-7/04/06
Rank #80 - 3/18/07-3/25/07
Rank #70 - 10/12/07-10/28/07
Rank #60 - ???? (rank #63 still as of 6/01/08)

YAY! WE HAVE TEH DATA.

Going from the dates I first hit those decade marks.... my time between them goes as follows:

100 -> 090 = 146 days
090 -> 080 = 267 days
080 -> 070 = 208 days
070 -> 060 = 233 days and counting

FRAK.

Well, I just disproved my own claims. Thanks to spending less time in the 70s than in the 80s.

I dunno whether to blaim this on the non-depositors I musta passed a chunk of in the 70s... or on the lack thereof in the 80s, relatively speaking. #;-}>

Either way, I think it's fairly safe to assume that the day I hit #60 in exp on will be well over 267 days past when I hit #70, and thus continue the increases... and then my #60 to #50 period will eclipse even that wait.

Argh... I knew I had spell needlessly wrong, so I copied and pasted it and spell checked it on google, but I didn't stop to see if the word suggestion it gave me was right... X_X

Blame it on google / MS Word which usually give out the inferior american sugestions, since the default english on my version of word always comes back to the American version and I can't always be bothered to change things. And on the fact that it's been over 10 years since I lived in England and most the material I read is probably written by Americans (except the BBS news page which is, btw, the best news page on the web).

It's all in the mind, really. If you feel high level, you'll, er, feel high level! Anyway, everyone knows that as long as your level 36 or over, which means you're in the top 40% of levels, you can oficially feel high level.
