Ok, let me start off my saying the site I'm trying to create is NOT another stupid-assed fucking retarded portfolio site... damnit I'm tired of those... ANYWAY...
The purpose of this site is to provide a place for up-and-coming artists to post their material and get recognition. In its finished state, it will have a place for each band to upload a biography, songs, pictures, and even artwork. Also, there will be a portal for the songs to enter through. Once they enter the portal, they will be voted on and accordingly ranked. There, users can comment and critique each song and the band. However, unlike many portal-based sites, no items can be blammed simply because it isn't any good. The site's puropse is to try and tell people what they need to do to become better. The only way an entry to the portal can be removed is it is simply spam. You can flag an item and a group of mods will be notified and the item would be removed, like any other portal system.

The point of all of this is that I need some serious help. I have a VERY limited experience of coding. I mean, I can slice and code the template so that it works, but I have not the slightest idea on how to start the portal system or anything else.
If you would like to help me out, IM me on AIM or say so on here. I need a few people that are experienced in coding that could make this site become a reality.

Been there, done that (for about 7 years now)! If the artist isn't active or if they just think that you're gonna do all of it for them, then it makes it very difficult.
I can't help ya with the php part of it though and you have to be extremely careful with who's submitting what because most people that think that they can sing really can't at all.
I also don't know if you made the layout or what but that layout lags a lot, so you might want to either make it smaller or dump the animated snow.
Oh wait! NM that was retro's layout that's screwed up. Yours looks really nice though.

Well I want to make it pretty simple... I want to base some of it off of Purevolume.com. I like the way they have things set up, but with so many people there small bands get no recognition at all. Also, I think that kind of portal system would benefit everyone.
Things should be pretty simple tho, as I see it all templated out. I mean, the bands just put in their name, type in some biography stuff, maybe upload some pics, then put their songs in through the portal. The songs would show up both on the band's page and the portal (until it gets bumped off by others).
