I saw this new story on CBS or something, how people are protesting the tradition of fox hunting in England. They see it as "unfair". Well, duh, we're humans, of course it's unfair. We have tons of technology that gives us the edge. I don't think their protests are right because they are ruining the sport for those who put money into it by intervening. They try to confuse the dogs, often blow their own hunting horns, etc. I mean, it's one thing to voice your opinion, but it is another to take action against a legal sport....

I personally don't think there is anything wrong with fox hunting unless of course they are indangered or something... Just a personal belief of mind. Can't really back it up with anything.
As for the actions of the protesters... it doesn't sound all that productive to just go in a mess up legal fox hunting session. I mean, honestly... this should be something left to the courts.

Ideally even if it's not rare it'd be best to only kill it if you intend to wear it or eat it, In this country rabbits & Haires are an exception, just kill them, Cane Toads are also an obviouse exception as they can't be eaten, mind you alot of money can be made by selling undamaged dead toads to leather processors, Freezing the little bastards is a good way to kill them without damaging the hide, it's humane too.

I'd be all for fox hunting if on alternate weekends, they set an aristocrat free, maybe smeared with some rabbit entrails or with a rabbit hanging from him (unfortunate for the rabbit though, perhaps one that died from natural causes).
Then, set a pack of thirty hungry foxes on him.
Cause I always thought sport was about a fair chance for both parties to win.
There's nothing sporting about a bunch of guys on horses running down a poor, defenceless animal with guns and packs of hounds.

I agree with shorbe on this one. We may have the advantage, but we are humans and as humans we have humanity which tells us it is unfair to kill something for fun

when were sports ever fair? you think guns are fair in hunting (although i do agree it would be a lot more interesting if the deers wielded rifles as well)? you think sonar in these fishing boats are fair?
i'd like to hear your idea of a fair sport...

Of course there is fairness in sports, or at least an attempt at fairness. That's why they don't allow steroids, etc.
I agree though, that it's mostly a joke and very hypocritical.
I just find it ironic that the nation that has made such a big deal about protocol and being fair and honourable, particularly in battle, still practises such a barbaric "sport".

I think hunting is stupid, unless you do it with a knife. I know this an atypical response from an American, but I like a good challenge. Guns are too impersonal. Hunting of deer (or foxes in Britain) would drop dramatically if you were required to hunt with a knife or spear, not only because it's hard to get that close to an animal, but because so much patience and physical strength are required that the redneck population and aristocracy would not be able to compete.
