I am far from your age, but someday I might join some sort of militant group, maybe for the stability or maybe for the training I can use in other work places.
I wouldn't join now, that's for damn sure. Bush is killing people for a war with himself, he treats troops like kamicazy weapons. If there was a way to end these wars America has been fighting Bush didn't want to.

That's just it. He isn't being careful, he doesn't care about how many lives are lost. I believe Bush cares only about Bush. He's a very selfish man, and right now all he wants is to win a war that isn't possibly winnable.

I probably would never join the armed forces in any way, as I do not think it is the most effective way to fight terrorists. I would rather join an intelligence service.
But for the sake of argument, I would rather be the best than just like all the rest

That's exactly why I hate how war is now a days. The leaders sit comfortably at home while others fight their battles. I wish war was exactly how it was in the times of Alexander the great. Where tactical genius was involved and the leaders fought right beside their men... usually in the front flanks.
Where the happiness of his men was sought out as far more important then of his own safety.

I am in the Navy myself and very happy with it. I have my views on the war but they dont matter what matters is geting my shipmates home ALIVE. I love the service and intend to make damned sure that this country stays a decent place for my month old niece to grow up in.

I would much rather have a militaristic strategist than a combat general as my leader. And I would die protecting my leader instead of fighting just to see him die.

Yeah. But I still think the leader should be right their with his men. If he dies, then he died for the same cause of his men. That may sound strange to some, but it's the way it should be. I would rather be remembered for being a hero, then forgotten as a coward.

Yeah me too, Im bot sure which one either. If I join the air force I would really like to fly. I just took the asvab to but im not sure what score you need to join the airforce. I know you need like a 30 for the marine but i would think that the air force would need smarter people.

Sorry bubba gotta have a Degree to fly in any of the branches, its called being an officer, you get to wear shiney things on your collar and people are suppose to salute you and shit.
Anyways, I joined the Marines, I spent 5 years in the Marines. Its not all its cracked up to be, but very few things are. Bootcamp is pretty much all mental, its not that rough. I decided that I didn't wish to be a part of the Marines so I got out when my contract was up, $20,000 reinlistment bonus wasn't worth going to go play in the sand box and give up another 4 years of my life. I didn't like a lot of it, I hate to play petty games because people get bored, I'd rather get my job done and go home. But its not all bad either, it all depends on what you are looking for. Just don't expect to be Rambo or anything, or don't expect to be like the ones you see on TV like on Sniper and stuff. Not quite like that.

I've done about three years of Navy, I've had a really good time so far, but I've been very lucky. People get really bored at sea and unless you can really bond with the guys you work with you'll hate life. I can't make any claims about other services, but if you're into nerdy stuff and do well on the ASVAB, you can get into a nerdy rating and hang out with mostly nerdy people. There are a lot of people in the Navy who dropped out of college because they didn't have the discipline they needed.
If you do join the Navy, all I can say is that when you get to a ship, try to volunteer for Mail Buoy watch. The Mail buoy is really important to morale and if you're the guy who is in charge people will try not to give you a hard time. It's great if you've got good eyes, but for god's sake, make sure you find the buoy, even if it's not your fault, you'll get blamed for the lack of mail.

Even if you arent serious, I will address this.
If you cant see yourself down in the trenches with the men you sent off to war, you shouldnt have that power. You shouldnt be any sort of leader.
If that is true, I sure as hell would never want you to lead me in any endeavor. That sort of elitist attitude is what would strike me as making someone the type of person that would step all over me to further themselves. I really dont like those people.

Ive always wondered how people know such things.
How does the basis of you political beliefs rest on usupportable opinoin of a man you have never met and dont know his personality? How?
Sometimes humans are way to illogical in decisions about crap like this. Thats the reason we have the retard leaders we have today. Emotions manifest themselves where they souldnt.

I don't know if I agree, I've been the bottom of the barrel peon. I'd really like to be the guy who sits in the office and makes policy decisions, I'd drink coffee all day and go home to a really big bed in my house. That sounds really awesome compared to the crap jobs at the bottom.

ill try to ignor the idiocy of that post for a second and give you a few facts so that you dont embaras yousef in public like that agin....
1) the taliban had nothing to do with 9/11, that was al queda, who incidently america armed and supplied with training by sending CIA agents over to them about a decade or so ago.
2)Irag had nothing to do with 9/11, the taliban or al queda, so theres really nothing for them "to do again" as they didnt do anything in the first place to america.
3)and this is possibly the most important one, war is not the exciting battle scenes you see on tv, its not meadles of honour pinned to your chest, its not glorious or poetic in anyway. this is especially true for iraq, its not defending your country or family, its killing other men because you were told to, there is no honour in that, not in the way you are thinking. but then if you do actually join and are sent to another pointless war you will see this for yourself, but i hope for your sake and the sake of all those other men serving their country that your government thinks twice before desciding to sacrafice them
