Nation of Islam 2005-12-05 21:16:06 Reply

Ive always thought the Nation of Islam was just a black group that was their to emphasize their heritage and try to seperate themselves from white culture. I always sorta thought they were a tad racist because of some of the actions of Malcolm X perpertrated before his later trip to Mecca where he reformed himself.

Then I started reading this chapter in my Intro to Islam class about Islam in America. And read about the beliefs of the Nation of Islam.

These people are bat shit crazy. Completly bat shit crazy.

The Black man is the original man. From him came all brown, yellow, red and black people. By using a special method of birth control law the Black man was able to produce the white race. This method of birth control was developed by a black scientist known as Yakub, who envisioned making and teaching a nation of people who would be diametrically opposed to the original people. A Race of people who would one day rule the original people and the earth for a period of 6000 years. Yakub promised his followers that he would graft a nation from his own people, and he would teach them how to rule his people, through a system of tricks and lies whereby they use deceit to divide and conquer, and break the unity of the darker people, put one brother against another and then act as mediators and rule both sides.

Thats about as fuckin stupid sounding as Scientology. BTW, this was Elijah Mohammed. He was also known to call whites "Blue eyed devils" on occasion.

The Nation of Islam teaches that the universe was created seventy-eight trillion years ago. At this time the first God was self-created on this planet, Earth. "He was the only One in the whole entire dark Universe. He had to wait until the atom of life produced brains to think what He needed. How long was that? I don't know, Brothers. But He was a Black man, a Black man!"

There have been a succession of gods, each a black man, and in our current time the Supreme God incarnate is W.D. Fard. Fard disappeared in 1933, but is believed to be still alive, and will return with a final holy book.

What the hell? I mean, Jesus, this is like crap Id expect some crazy cult would believe. And how does this have anything to do with Islam at all? Claiming that Fard, the founder of the Nation of Islam, is a God is the complete antithesis of what Islam teaches, which is one God, Allah. Not Fard.

NOI: Teaches that the black man is the original man of the planet Earth and that Caucasians were created by a grafting (selective breeding) process devised by a scientist called Yakub. They teach that Caucasian Muslims are their brothers in the faith of Islam and should be honored as such. However, they also teach that Caucasians are inherently evil and therefore are not accepted into the NOI (all other races are eligible, however).

Mainstream Islam: Teaches that all races are created equal in the eyes of God. People of all races must convert to Islam and are not accepted unless they are converted. Islam recognizes a biblical and Quranic figure, the patriarch Jacob, but this Jacob is viewed by Muslims as a prophet, and is not connected to the Yakub of the NOI. Mainstream Islam does not teach the existence of Yakub.

LOL. So friggin racist AND crazy. Plus no relation to ANYTHING having to do with Islam. But dont just take my word that they are a hate group. It seems others agree with me.

In 1998, the Southern Poverty Law Center declared the Nation of Islam a hate group. The Anti-Defamation League has also made similar claims.

On October 24, 1989, at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Washington, DC., Louis Farrakhan stated that he had a vision of being abducted in 1985 by an invisible pilot in a UFO and carried up on a beam of light to a "human built planet" known as the "Mother Wheel." There the voice of Elijah Muhammad informed him that the president and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, under the direction of Gen. Colin Powell, were planning a war, which Farrakhan said he later came to realize was "a war against the black people of America, the Nation of Islam and Louis Farrakhan." "I saw a city in the sky," Farrakhan said, after which the UFO "brought me back to Earth and dropped me off near Washington; over to Tyson Corners and Fifth Street I think...to make The Announcement."

What the hell? This was Louis Farrakhan. How the hell does a sane person believe this? And why the fuck is this man the spokesman for such a large group? And why the hell does anyone put this nutbag on television? Why does anyone care what such an obvious psycho believes?

Source

To sum it all up, Ive always thought they were a little out there from what Ive learned mostly about Malcolm X and Elijah Mohammed, but NEVER did I realize just how psychotic this group. And for some reason, the news networks put these psychos on TV (like Farrakhan with his claim that the levees in New Orleans were blown up to kill black people) just to stir hate and trouble.

Thoughts?

I had to stop reading at this point as I was laughing so hard I could no longer read even if I had super reading powers.

People can't badmouth the NOI (goona steal you acronym) in the mainstream media and such because they would immediately be labeled as racists. Howevre NOI is a far cry from islam and basically just a racist cult.

Nice nation in Nation States by the way. I used to have one there but I forgot to check on it for a long time and it got deleted. It was extraordinarily similar to yours though.

Have you read Jennifer Government?

Yeah, I felt like killing some devils too. Fucking white man holding me down....oh, wait. Damn. Personally, I think we should amend the dictionary so that "Militant" can be interchangeable with "Ignorant".

Yeah, they're crazies. Or, should probably say "were". Sure, they're still technically around, but their numbers / influence is drastically lower than in the sixties.

A lot of people actually woke up and realized that it had nothing to do with Islam, too. Read Malcolm X's autobiography, it's really enlightening, but near the end he actually started practicing something much closer to "real" Islam.

They delete them? Aww. Mine's gone then. I think I might start a new one though... hm.

I agree - I think the Wikipedia article you state as your source does point out the Malcom X did actually reject some of the more... esoteric (gaa-gaa)... theories of NOI. Regardless, I always thought that NOI's decision to use millitant tactics must have ultimately done more harm than good, since they perpetuated the stereotype that blacks were a load of uneducated slaves who understood nothing but violence, although admittedly I don't know as much about this as I would like - am I basically right?

I don't think many members of the Nation of Islam even know all that about their religion, I think that for the most part they just read a pamphlet that says whites are the devil and that hooks em pretty easily. I doubt anyone who actually read these details would hold much stock in them. Unless they were absolutely bat-shit crazy.

Normally I'd insult you until you cry, but I'm tired and you seem unstable, so I won't

Nation of Islam is TOTALLY different from 'traditional' Islam, in the same way that Mormanism is totally different from Roman Catholicism (I mean no disrespect to Mormans - I'm not comparing them to NOI)

For example, even though I'm a 'crazy asshole', I do know that the birth-control scientist Yakub does not feature in the Qu'ran. Whilst I respect Islam, I vehemently oppose Nation of Islam.

So either you didn't read the post, or you are just insulting Fabul0us generally. Either way, might do you good to think for a bit before you post.

Yeah... SKL can read that FAB0L0US was complaining about the Nation of Islam, but SKL didn't see anything else.

My thoughts? Seems kind of extreme and racist... but when a group has been discriminated against for so long, what should we expect to happen?

I don't know.

This pisses me off because they are not truly muslims. First off, we believe that racism is one of the greatest sins ever, and calling someone a blue eyes devil is pretty much being racist. They are not true muslims, and make us true muslims look bad. Also, we do not know when earth was truly created. This is just complete BS.

Basically the same as regular Creationism, just that there are a lot of negative connatations when I say 'Creationism' - people think I'm talking about Young Earth Creationism.

What I'm trying to say is that Islam does claim to know how and when the Earth was formed - I could be very, very wrong, I don't know enough about Islam to have intelligent opinions on it in all honesty.

Some Muslims believe in evolutionary creationism, especially among the Liberal movements within Islam. More literalist Muslims, including followers of Wahhabism, reject origin of species from a common ancestor by evolution as incompatible with the Qur'an. However, even amongst Muslims who accept evolution, many believe that humanity was a special creation by God. For example, Shaikh Nuh Ha Mim Keller, an American Muslim and specialist in Islamic law has argued in Islam and Evolution that a belief in macroevolution is not incompatible with Islam, as long as it is accepted that "Allah is the Creator of everything" (Qur'an 13:16) and that Allah specifically created humanity (in the person of Adam; Qur'an 38:71-76). Shaikh Keller cleary states in his conclusion however:

"As for claim that man has evolved from a non-human species, this is unbelief (kufr) no matter if we ascribe the process to Allah or to "nature," because it negates the truth of Adam's special creation that Allah has revealed in the Qur'an. Man is of special origin, attested to not only by revelation, but also by the divine secret within him, the capacity for ma'rifa or knowledge of the Divine that he alone of all things possesses. By his God-given nature, man stands before a door opening onto infinitude that no other creature in the universe can aspire to. Man is something else."

One of the main criticisms of evolution by Muslims is their assertion that it was created by and supports atheism, and so it is argued that it should be rejected
