I'm sure 89% of the people (Here and in Other sites) use Macromedia Flash.

Hahaha :D... Yes its is quite flammable isn't it.

But I'll play along:

I use Flash 8 mostly, In combonation with Macromedia Studio MX 2003 and Swift3d.

I have used SWiSHmax but it wasn't any good.

Macromedia Flash 8, i've been trying out trials of 3d flash, but they are all far too complex :(
I don't use adobe or paintshop pro or anything like that because i rely on the smoothing tool on the painbrush very effective in Flash (I wack it up to 70%), and when i draw in Paint Shop Pro it never turns out the way i draw it i flash, it's too defined. Wheras in flash with the smoothing, it pretty much draws most of it for you.

And no, not many flammers here, you'll find most of them in the general section.

Well, if you plan to obtain a copy of flash legally, which you should do. Flash 8 really isn't the way to go I figure. If you are a begginer, dont spend to much. Get a copy of just regular Flash MX. I like to use it, it has alot of built in tutorials that help you get on your way very quickly, and is still a great tool for making flash movies. Its just like the newers flash products without the un-neccisary bells and whistles.

True, considering on Ebay, a legit copy will cost you LOADS less, and there isn't that much difference between the two version. However if you are thinking that you want flash 5, 6. Think again! These are awful versions of flash (in comparison). And they are a lot harder to code!

.......

Flash MX = Flash 6
Flash MX 2004 = Flash 7

Flash 6 is a great version and I stand by that very strongly.

Flash 5 had the best tutorials, they were interactive and were pre-built fla's that you would edit normally, whereas the tutorials from Flash MX onwards, just sort of told you what to do, and it was sort of hard to follow along. But, once you understand the basics, you may consider upgrading, i never really upgraded past Flash MX (Stupid Win98SE), but i have used MX 2004 from time to time, it seems very confusing and contains alot of items that could POSSIBLY be useful, had they come with any instructions on how to use them properly

The one thing i like most about MX over all the mother programs is that there is a scale option when you right click. In all the later versions you have to go tranform, then scale up at the top. Not a big deal, but when you have to hit scale 100 times in 5 minutes it gets to become a bitch.

MX=Best

I am still getting 8 though. Might as well.

I use Flash 4 99% of the time

Occasionally I'll use flash 5 for a couple of the actionscript things like making the mouse invisible or a preloader that goes by filesize and not number of frames loaded.

I'm with you all the way - I got it real cheap on teh eBay.

Just get the best priced version, MX and up. MX introduced lots of fun things that should not be overlooked, and I feel comfortable with. MX 2004, for me, just introduced classes/.as files (that of which I can use, but are not essential).

I'm back! on a temporary basis. No-one can remember who I am! but I don't really mind.
