I've seen two: one by ConradB, and one by n0ise. I'm almost annoyed that the admins decided to give that level of legitimacy to spam movies, but hey, their site, their rules, and I'm sure they have a good reason for it. Plus, a little here and there keeps things interesting. Lets me know that everyone I used to know isn't dead yet, which was a problem during the summer.

I worked all day, just getting home not too long ago, and I've decided to turn yet another leaf, and am proud to announce that I will be purchasing my own car very soon, within the next three weeks.

I am sick of shelling out money for gas, depending on others, and feeling as if I can't make plans to go anywhere or do anything, unless I first ask another if they can help make it possible.

So, fuck it, I'm taking out a loan I will probably regret taking out, and going to get a car. I'm getting a used one of course, and as long as it's in good mechanical condition and runs like a charm with no problems, I'll be getting it. Exterior is nothing I give a fuck about though, I'm not big on looks in the matter of a car, it gets me from point a, to point b, I don't need to make a 'statement' in the process.

So, expect to see a bit more of me when that happens, since the main reason I am not around, is due to me going one place with a person, and ending up going to multiple places. :/

I completely agree. "Movie" and "Game" are much too broad, so this helps to specify a lot better. Take my flashes for example. There is little interaction, just a few buttons but I set them as "games" as it was the closest match (I believe it says "Game/INTERACTIVE"). a

I then had people leaving me low scoring reviews because it wasn't a game (despite my author comments to that effect). Now with the addition of "Tutorial" to the genre selection it's much better and gives them no excuse to say that what they see before them is not what they expected.

I saw one as well. When I was fixing all my flashes to accord with the new design I noticed spam as a possible genre selection and thought it was a joke (a bit like the Elmer Fudd language selection on Google). I didn't think it would be taken seriously. Looks like I may be wrong.

That's great, man. Just make sure you've got enough cash to pay for what comes along with owning your own car. Payments, gas, and the occasional repair job are all very expensive. :/ Will you have your own insurance policy? For someone your age the premium is through the roof. >:( I know as I was just there myself a few years ago. (I was paying like $250 a month for my own policy at 19-20 years old. No tickets, crashes, anything. Though it was cut in half after I reached 3 years since I got my license, thank fucking god)
Having your own wheels is a great feeling, though. You'll be asking yourself how the hell you lived without your own car soon enough. ;)

Oh please that would be amazing if they had a THIS SHOULD BE ON UTUBE STFU ABOUT IT NOW category for me to select from. I didn't take a look at the categories yet, but I'm assuming there isn't a live action category in there. It may be something to suggest in the future I guess, but actually there probably won't be any live action movies from me... until the summer at least. Maybe sooner because the guy that I made them with is probably transferring to my college and my roommate may be dropping out to join the Navy.

Ah, back to being inactive again... I'll be back at the end of next week! It was my birthday yesterday, another real life level up for me, level 23 now :). My girlfriend treated me to tickets to the Bristol City- Plymouth match last night (I'm a big Plymouth fan), not to mention an excellent birthday cake!

She's here until next Friday, and therefore I'll be away until then making the most of having her around. Good to see the thread has calmed a little since I last popped in!

I disagree. Not only should you save your money, you shouldn't buy a car just yet. Loans are near impossible to get anywhere unless you have immaculate credit scores and can show that you can pay a lot more than just the minimum every month. If you can do that, then go for it.

But investing in the market isn't a great right now either. Home prices are dropping everyday, making the payments on the money needed to buy a house wouldn't be worth paying. Renting is a good money maker, but if you don't have the space/home to do it, it's not worth it. And investing in stocks is obviously not smart; the market is incredibly unstable, with 300-500 point drops then raises every day, even when the house bubble was starting to pop. Tomorrow might see an increase in stocks, but it will still be a bad market.

So, if you can even get the loan, go for the car. If not, don't worry about it. Wait a month for the bailout plan to take hold, then try again for the loan. Otherwise, save your money, don't buy with credit cards, and hope for the best.

That's Why I said to save, wait, watch the market for a few months, it hasn't hit rock bottom yet, but it's going to in the next 3 quarters or so. THAT is the time to buy, into solid stocks (Banks in countries with good regulating laws in place-not american banks, companies that are selling and developing products that will still be in use for a long time as technology evolves) And by a house I didn't necessarily mean a detached home, any real estate will bounce back up again, but once again wait for the prices to go down much further, as they are bound to do.

Hey! I'm from VA too! LoL, but seriously, I know that need to just buy something, but you still have to remember insurance, maintenance, and taxes on it. Maintenance is especially key with a used car, so the best thing (and I know this is redundant by now) is to wait and save. Suck it up and ask for rides and pay for gas like you would if you had your own car. In the meantime do your research (used cars, prices, insurance, etc.) and when you have saved More than enough for all of it and done ALL the research, then buy the car. I'm the same way about cars, and i suggest check with family first for any used cars for sale, I mean at the least you will know enough to be sure that they can't rip you off. ummm... P.S. GAS PRICES!!!! Yea, thought I would add to the list of expenses before you go and buy a car.

Ha, looks like it doesn't matter. Perhaps enough people found it offensive enough to vote 0 on it because it never made it pass judgment. This is not the last time that the roster will be adjusted to more accurately reflect activity levels. Whenever a roster update occurs, I may check people who I don't recall posting recently and see when their last post in the Barracks was. Anyone who hasn't posted in the Barracks for thirty days or more can be cut from the roster at my discretion. The roster must accurately reflect who is regularly working with the Barracks so we can know who can be called upon for duties, whether whistling stolen flash, helping out newbies, whatever. This will not be done as a punishment, but rather for our collective convenience.

In regards to AnalPenguinFarming's AWOL status and his officer position, I will give him an additional week---til October 9---before assigning the NGDD Liaison position to someone else. I have already received several applications for the position, so if you're interested in having it should APF not return by then, hit me up via PM.

In other news, yes, there seems to be a flood of recent stolen flash lately. While much of it is being flagged successfully, there are some sneaking through. I recommend sharing stolen links with people and organizations that are interested in helping out; however, make sure that you're the first one doing it before posting in the NGPD/NGDD/wherever, so we don't have the same link repeatedly copy/pasted in a thread.

I would also like to remind all members that there is no reason to neglect your whistle, especially in times such as this---enhancing your whistle to Bronze or Silver level can be done very quickly if you're using the abusive review thread in Wi/Ht?, and everyone should eventually be aiming for Deity. The stronger our whistles are, the more stolen flashes will fall before us.

On another topic, I'm being bombarded with mid-term tests at the moment. They aren't hugely important, but each one is worth 5% of our grade for that module so they do add up. I don't mind them, but we've got a lot in a short space of time.

My Computing for Scientists exam went great, but I was disappointed that I only got 4.2 / 5, I know that's a great score but it was an easy exam (recreate a Word document lol) and I can't think of any major errors I could've made.

Then I got 80% in my General Chemistry exam, which I was happy with, but was a little annoyed that I fell into a trap with one of the questions, and that cost me 10%. Now I have a Science Maths exam tomorrow, which should be ok, just some basic calculus and functions.

Oh well, on the plus side, I got 100% on both my Biology lab reports so far, so I guess university is going pretty well right now.

With the lost of those two mods though we did receive another mod today. BR is now a review mod and he was someone that I thought would be modded a long time ago. He taught me everything that I know about the review system and I've helped about 20 or so people personally with understanding the review system so in the long run BR has actually helped a lot of people understand what's abusive and what's not abusive. I give him the credit for helping me get out of garbage because he taught me everything.

So I have 'lernt' how to add two numbers together in Visual Basic because it's really hard to do. Haha, that was just a mock exercise though so probably some more challenging things later on in that lesson.

Anyway, on a more Newgrounds related note, I thought the update with the flash portal was pretty nice, I updated all my flash yesterday out of bordom. Well, I could have gotten on with putting together the flash I'm suppost to be making but I keep putting it off, no motivation.

Hrm. That sounds okay. It seems like kind of a long time between updates, but the 51+ list will tide me over between barracks updates.
I know for me at least, the barracks had became a bit of a b/p club. I really only tended to post here when the update came out, and I only talked about b/p related stuff. I've been trying to participate more in discussion since things were re-orginized. Having a b/p update monthly will help me to continue that trend, I think.

Having seen some of the 'abuse' that was going on with whining about when updates were taking place, I thought I'd draw my line in the sand early on.

Yeah, I actually thought he would get this a long time ago. If I'm not wrong he taught you a lot of stuff about abusive reviews too didn't he? It was nice to get a PM from him today. He told me that I actually taught him quite a bit about the review system that he didn't know, but it all goes back to him teaching me in the first place.

Yeah, I understand about having to do so many other lists too. I don't think I would have the patience or time to keep up one list like this and update it so I completely understand. Once a month will also keep this place from being a B/P list. This will get us back on track.

I for one promise to do just that Tails, assuming of course a fellow EGB member hasn't beaten me to the punch. Hopefully it'll help a few of the guys buried deep in the hole (I won't name names, but one in particular stands out, great user but stuck with Garbage for as long as I can remember).

If you feel like it's the right thing to do, then it's the right thing to do.

Personally, I've decided to give the old girl another chance, because I know that there are members of this group out there that are hopefully the majority of the members, preferably all, that pride the correct voting of what a flash deserves over the stats themselves.

We've got to remember and keep as our mantra that the stats are a nice side effect. We are here to judge what a flash deserves to receive as a score and to vote it through judgement fairly. Simple.
