To join the Barracks, you must be of Private rank or higher (2500+ B/P) and have an unbroken whistle to be considered. If you rank up to Security Guard, you can apply at the Newgrounds Police Department until you reach Private rank. Also, NGPD members of good standing can become "Guardsmen" during that time, becoming active in the Barracks before actually becoming official members.

I woke up today and though I'd B/P a little, Blue Hippo still has nothing on me and never will, but then I start working and I see things like This still pass, and it just bounces me back to reality, that even on the internet, the bad guys get away with such shit. Sad.

Still plugging away at the numbers. I think I can keep this sort of pace up and make a few more places in the top 300 :)

Thanks for the update, Josh. Nice work as always :)

You can't win the war with a defeatist attitude like that, Phantom. When we stand tall, we will beat the spam, that comes into the portal. No-one ever said that this fight would be an easy one to win, but if we don't stand up to the shite flash, there will be the one state of anarchy that allows a flash to pass judgement with a score of 5.00

Until that day does, there is still some shread of morality in the users of this site. I will not let it be extinguished as long as I draw breath. Look at yourselves and think "Have I given this flash movie the score it deserves?"

Thanks for the update, Joshiwa! Sorry for not replying yesterday...

Joshiwa's note:

As you may of noticed NEVR and I decided to take NintendoMadness off of the list do to his final post in the LUL saying that he was not returning to Newgrounds. I am saddened that he has left this site and the barracks, he will be missed.

I'm saddened too. I liked him, but that post was surprising. I mean, he never mentioned before having to leave us due to other things. Also, I think it was too drastic saying that it was his last post on Newgrounds, saying that he would never come back. I think he might come back someday, when he sort things out.

Now enjoy the update!

Will do, sir!

EGB Statistical analysis

EGB Total B/P: 889,091 B/P
Average B/P per member: 21,685 B/P
Average EGB rank: Lt. General

Hey, we levelled up!

I mean, the average rank was Brigadier General before this update.

Anyone took a screen-shot? =P

Total B/P gain this week: 4,897 (096.0 B/P per member)
Total B/P gain last week: 4,126 (096.7 B/P per member)
Difference: +771 B/P since last week

Uhh, something is wrong here. How come we got more points than last week's standings but had a lower B/P pace per member? O_o

Leaving the list this week: NintendoMadness

:,(

Promotions:

NEVR - Lt. General

Back to action with a new rank! Congrats!

Other B/P Milestones:

Joshiwa - 15,000 Saves

Nice one. I don't even have 15,000 B/P... =(

Not bad, 40 a day. I think my pace will drop, because my brother is on his break from university, so he stays all nights (well, most of them) in front of the computer.

However, in a couple of weeks I'll have my 2-week break from school. Yeah, while the upper part of the Ecuador is on Summer, the South part is on Winter. And we only have a mini-break on Winter. Oh well...

Post 2 coming...

I'm not a big fan of the Clock Crew, mostly because of it's recent members and submissions. But the original clocks are pretty good. And I'm almost sure RupeeClock will submit something, he did it last year, why not doing it this year again? Although I doubt StrawberryClock...

And yesterday I discovered I'll have to go somewhere on Clock Day! NOOOO! It'll be the "birthday" of the place where I study english, so it's most likely that I'll have to go there. I own that place a lot, if I didn't know about it then probably I wouldn't be here typing everything... in English! =)

I'll probably get as many as 18 hours out of it. Then I'll repeat the process on Saturday as well, because there's always stragglers.

I'll go as far as I can on it, specially during the night. I have school in the morning and in the evening I'll have my English school's birthday.

Hey all. Well, I have been looking to join some club(s) here on NG and this place has really interested me for a while now. I've never been a member here in the past, so I'd like to know, what is the main focus of the EGB? All's I know if you have to have a Private rank or higher to join. :P
If someone could give me a quick overview of the kind of stuff that goes on here and what this presumably good organization is about, I'd love to join!
(That is if that's okay with you guys, of course!) :P

OK, the recruitment procedure is simple: we put you on standby for a period of approximately 24 hours, during which time we'll discuss your suitability for membership and take a vote. The final decision is usually left down to the recruitment officer (SlashFirestorm), but can in some cases go to the Chief Barracks Officer (EagleRock) - but the vote plays a heavy role in the final decision.

After the standby period, you'll be notified of our decision, and if you're approved, then you'll be welcomed into the Barracks.

I'll send a PM off to Slash now, so that he can start the process ASAP.

Yes, NGPD and ex-NGPD members are welcome to post in here. Still, if you wish to join, try to fix your whistle as soon as possible. Also, as you're not actually a member at this point in time, it's probably best that you don't post in here excessively for the time being... but there's no harm in you lurking and making the odd couple of posts.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. I hate when I write a nice review and it gets removed because the Flash was removed! That hasn't happened in a while, because I haven't written many reviews lately. =P

He isn't a member from the EGB because... well, maybe he isn't interested as he used to be on Newgrounds anymore. Also, there are lots of EGSC who aren't part of the EGB. I'd really like to see more of them joining.

I guess he's still a member of the Clock Crew. I'm not really sure, though.

Thanks for handling the FAQ/etc, NEVR.

All Barracks members can go to the appropriate discussion thread and make any questions/comments about the potential recruit and vote on whether or not he should be accepted. Remember that you must be logged in to see/post/vote in this thread.

If nobody has any outstanding questions/comments after about a day, the process will be ended and Metal-Therapy will be informed of the decision.

You know, it's been a fair time since we've had any new recruits. I was thinking about that the other day... interest levels seem to have dropped somewhat over the past few months. Still, nice to see someone new asking to join. Perhaps summer time is recruiting season...?

It's simple really. People are so used to spam coming through the portal, so they just go after the point, and vote 2, or higher. And at some cases when a score is low enough, they bring in a couple corrupted high level spammers, I'm sure I have no need to mention names, who up vote it, and it passes. It's just rare that enough EGB members are online and working at any given point, to stop the spam, although at some cases we were, spam stopped with a screeching halt.

Personally, I have quite a few days off now, looking for work, so I'm at home for now, B/Ping a bit, I'm at a new daily record I haven't had in many months :P

Thanks everyone for your words of support, I've had quite a bit of time now to get my head back together, and spent the last few days down in Devon with my girlfriend, who has been absolutely amazing. Just getting back to normal life as best I can now, though as I said before, there is less room for good old NG than there used to be.

A valid point, but she knows how to make up for it ;P

Have fun. That's all I can say. Life is amazing; it shouldn't be wasted in front of a computer screen.

Damn straight, I've never been afraid to take extended periods of absence from this place, and that isn't going to change. You never know, I may be back as active as ever one of these days (unlikely though...)

There's usually at least one or two of us in the portal, but it's ridiculous to assume that one or two of us - even with a high voting power - could stop the save whores clamoring around a submission to give it their 5 before even watching.

Personally, I have quite a few days off now, looking for work, so I'm at home for now, B/Ping a bit, I'm at a new daily record I haven't had in many months :P

Nice. Enjoy your time off man.

Come to think of it I recall times that we were on MSN talking and from time to time a spam flash would com to through the portal and we would both vote zero on it. We would say to each other that this flash can not pass...and it ends up passing. Sometimes even we are powerless to the save whores. :/

I really hate it when spam passes through the portal, i vote o on spam submissons. Although when it passed judgement, its wont make any diffrence. I have not seen as much as there used to be the, odd one by Piglettface. However the score goes down very quickly.

Yeah that pigletface passes even tho I blam it, tho a couple times it has been blammed but he just resubmits it.

On a side the not the portal is fairly busy today, as of now I have 73 total B/P with 38 blams and 35 saves.

If they are resubmits they're rulebreaking and should be posted here in a link. That would at least slow him or any other spammer down a little. I really don't think the portal is any worse than it was when I signed up. There we're times when it was much worse than right now.

What ever happened to the portal watch? When it first kicked off my blam/save ratio was around 1:2 now it's more like 1:4. What's up with that?

I, honestly, think the deletion of the original Pigletface movies were unjust, as they did not break any rules and passed fairly. The author should be allowed another chance to re-submit, seaing as how he deserves to have his movie hold it's rightful place in the portal just like every other legitimate flash on Newgrounds does.

I really don't know, but my blam to save ratio has been evening out lately and today I actually have more blams than saves at the moment. So I guess my regular ratio is 1:2 if not better. I assume the portal watch is still around but its kinda faded in the minds of people.

I'm not familiar with the pigletface movies discussed but if they were deleted by Wade they are considered spam by newgrounds. My point being that if a flash is resubmitted without change and improvement they are rulebreaking and should be flagged as such.

If there's one thing the EGB is good at it's flagging rulebreaking flash. Resubmits by spam artist shouldn't pass.

The 1:4 ratio is over about a month or so and not a daily count. I just think it sucks because the portal watch was actually working and now it's not. My blam/save ratio is pretty much where it was before the portal watch existed now.

"Spam" is merely a point of view. It's the term that the general userbase commonly uses to describe something that they believe is of "tasteless" quality. A spam submission is a sort of Eye of the Beholder issue. Nothing is spam by default, but only made that way through the perception of the masses.

And because of this, like I've stated before, I believe it deserves another chance. The author should be allowed to resubmit, since the original was grossly misjudged and removed despite the majority of voters accepting it into the Portal.
