I see exciting times ahead, especially with the developments (and potential further developments) with the efforts to fight Portal spam. I dare say that the sleeping giant that is Slash may become B/P active in the near-ish future if things keep going the way they are...hell, one of the reasons I stopped B/P'ing was because of Portal frustration, but if we actually have a chance...well, what's the point of having a voting power of 11.17 if I'm not going to use it?

Good point. Truth be told, that was my issue, too. Even when I was getting back onto Newgrounds (around Clock Day), it was just too depressing to see flash after flash after flash get through with no quality nor work whatsoever. Fair voting got me less than 20 B/P a day, and it seemed like any work towards solving the problem was futile.

Plus, once I have the silver gauntlet and the sexy evil aura, the temptation to return will become more than I can bear...

*shudders*

In any case, good to see officer positions get cleaned up. Lot of them had been stale or unclear for some time. Hopefully, once our house is in complete order, we can start inviting people to join the party. :-D

Anywho, did any one esle this morning try to access the site and it sair "in ur tank, upgrading ur server besides me? I found it odd because there was no warning of it like there was for the last wednesday down time. There was a pic of three tankmen welding a tank, i'd post the pic, but it's a .bmp and won't go on a post.

That happened for me as well. It was the same downtime pic as the redesign. I assume there was some unplanned downtime with the servers or something. That kind of stuff happens more than you'd think in IT.

I honestly don't know how the top couple of B/Pers do it. Once I get to 30,000 I might as well stop until they get new ranks (unless they get new ranks by the time I get to 30,000-which at this rate of B/Ping they probably will). Because honestly...Molotov with over 100,000 B/Ps is almost unimaginable for me to even come close to getting. Even if we were to ever get new ranks, he would still be at the top.

Well I kinda realized that once you get Supreme Commander you with even a little bit of effort you can get pretty damn close to the top 50. But I'll cross that hurdle when I get there. Still gotta get there first. But it's a personal choice, after all 30000 B/P points is it really worht it just to give up and leave it at that. I've seen people get too many points too fast and just lose interest etc, so it's really up to see how well you can actually do.

There isn't enough data right now to warrant a second post. It would really only consist of a few lines which, as I've proven with this update, can be easily cut out without too much fuss.

The only reason I had to make the notes on a separate post this time is because the explanation of what I had done this week took up 200 characters more than the 8,000 character-per-post limit. Normally mine or Joshiwa's notes won't be as long as that, so from next week we should hopefully be able to fit everything comfortably into one post.

This isn't to say, however, that the roster will remain one post forever. When the time comes that I have enough data to make an expansion worthwhile, I will definitely add a second post rather than remove information to squeeze everything in. As it is, though, there was a commodity of inactive users who could be removed from the list with little consequence.

As for the Guardsmen, well, we only have 2 right now, and the inclusion of the position in our roster doesn't seem to have generated as much interest as I thought it would. I figure that the Guardsmen know who they are, and like I said, I'll be posting a thread in our private forums soon that will contain the list of Guardsmen until such time as there's enough interest in the position that we can add it back onto our roster. It's likely the return of the Guardsmen to the roster will coincide with the roster's expansion, whenever that may be.

To that end, if anybody has any suggestions for the roster that you'd like to see included each week, send me a PM about it, outlining your ideas. The more feasible ideas I get, the sooner we'll see the roster expanded. Any and all suggestions are welcome, so don't be shy.

I'm almost offended that guardsmen werent on this update! I don't think "interest" in guardsmen matter. We are still a part of the barracks, plus I have been the second most active user on this thread according to your activity roster twice now, and last update I had only slipped to third! Not to mention that last week I was the number 3 gainer and now I don't have the possibility to reclaim that status again?! I'm not really sure why I was excluded from this list.

We are still a part of the barracks, plus I have been the second most active user on this thread according to your activity roster twice now, and last update I had only slipped to third! Not to mention that last week I was the number 3 gainer and now I don't have the possibility to reclaim that status again?! I'm not really sure why I was excluded from this list.

It's not a slight against you or SoulMaster76, and yes, like you say, you ARE still a part of the Barracks, but this is simply for convenience's sake. This isn't permanent, and like I said, the sooner people give me new ideas for the roster so that I can extend it, the sooner the Guardsman will be re-added.

Also, bear in mind that whilst you are welcome to post here, you aren't a full-fledged EGB member yet. Your activity in this thread doesn't bypass your whistle status, which you've been told is a requirement for you to fix before you may apply to join here as a full member.

Guardsmen will remain on the activity list, and (saying this for the third time now), I will be making a thread in the private forums for the Guardsmen, so you are by no means being excluded from the Barracks. This is simply a temporary space-saver until I can fully extend the roster to incorporate a full second post, and is NOT a measure to segregate Guardsmen from full members.

Please also understand that managing the roster is a pretty big task. I haven't taken lightly to removing ANYBODY from the roster, and this is the first time that I've done so (and will hopefully be the last time that I have to for the reason of space-saving). I understand you are upset at being 'excluded' this time around, but remember that it isn't permanent, and doesn't make Guardsmen any less a part of the Barracks, so don't take it personally.

You know you're still a part of the EGB, and so does everyone else here. Your Guardsmanship is not being rescinded, just as the full members that have been removed from this update are not having their membership rescinded. I still have your information stored in a file on my computer, and you have my word that you'll be back on the roster as soon as I have enough data to extend the roster.

Alternatively, if you acquire a normal whistle, you can apply for full membership and return to the roster that way. For SoulMaster76, if he gains the rank of Private, he may also apply for full membership and return to the roster. If I don't have enough space on the roster after adding one, or both of you as full members, then I'll have to work around that, or else think fast and have the roster extended ASAP. It's not a small responsibility, though, so please don't give me grief for just doing my job here.

If you or SoulMaster76 have any further issues with this, send them to me via a PM rather than second-guessing me here, and I'll be glad to hear you out.

I heard about Major-punk, and it's saddening to think that he died. Questionable. But ultimately, it's not up to us, it's up to the site administrators as to what is allowed and what is not. The best course of action I can think of is for our Portal Watch members to alert Wade of these flash and see if they are indeed breaking rules. If they are resubmits like Soul eluded to, we should dig up evidence and alert Wade.

The Portal is showing some speed lately (finally), and we are unfortunately also seeing an increase of malicious/spamlike flash. Keep on our toes, and alert the Portal Watches if you see any malicious spam. Flag accordingly as well.
