Congrats man! I thought it was about time you ranked up. I'm coming close to Brigadier General now, but you still have a decent lead over me, and you're even keeping Joshiwa at bay for the time being.

Hello sirs! Still have a garbage whistle so unfortunately I won't be officially joining you yet. Although on a different note, at the moment there are quite a few high quality submissions and it looks like today was a good one not much spam at all. Several of the submissions that were under judgement recently I voted five on. Yeah they were that good! And as you can seen my aura is dark, which does indeed reflect my voting disposition (althogh the actual numbers of b/p points suggest otherwise).

So in general I hope that there are more and more days like this here at NG "The future place of all quality submissions!"

My Official Resignation Message

As you may have heard from my good mate NEVR, I recently decided that I could no longer create the barracks update. I am now at a point where I no longer have the time to enjoy creating updates for all of you great people in the barracks. For the last 10 weeks of so creating the update has just seemed to be too much like a chore instead of a privilege. I no longer feel that joy when you finish an update and get to see all the great comments people respond with to it.

Ever since I first started creating updates I felt that it really helped the barracks and kept it alive. I would make an update and a day later there would be 2 new pages to read through all commenting on it. It was truly great to see, especially when the barracks started to become fairly inactive.

Nowadays thought it just doesn't feel right. With the limited amount of computer time I have now and the new hobbies I have found on the computer it is hard to enjoy doing both when I have sufficient time to do both (if that makes sense).

I also feel that I don't have the same feeling towards b/ping anymore. With the portal become more and more pathetic and inactive (when I am online anyway) I don't feel that same statwhoreishness that I used to. I still b/p (and will continue to) but it just doesn't feel right for someone who is only managing 8 points a day to be doing the update.

Over the last year of creating the updates for the EGB I have created over 35 updates, added several new features, created the first semi-automated list creator and pimped out the updates look to what you know it as now. I am really happy at what I have achieved in the last year and I am really glad I did take up the challenge of records keeper taking over from Major-punk who sadly cannot isn't with us anymore (RIP). He truly was a great person and was an inspiration to me when I joined the barracks and he was the records keeper.

But enough about me, if it wasn't for all you great people of the EGB I would have never started this journey. It is because of all of you that I wanted to create the update in the first place so THANKYOU!

I will stick around the EGB, I probably won't post much because of time restraints but I will pop in occasionally to say high!

I hereby resign from my role as the Records officer of the EGB and declare NEVR to take over for me from this day forward.

That's good to hear. Of course, everyone has different amounts of time where they are able to post and be active - I've just been lucky in that I've been on my gap year, which has left me a fair amount of time to hang out on NG.

First of all, they must have been s fairly small thing well before my time, because I've never even heard of the Beatles Band (though I have seen that "beatlesband.senseiman.com" link in the past). And second, you might want to take a look at the news post of that TheBeatlesBand account. It claims that the account BEATLESBAND (which looks to be the old Beatles Band account) is an impostor... So it's not the old Beatles Band, whoever they were.

Congratulations to TheNossinator for being the first Guardsman to *officially* graduate to the EGB. I hope to see you making some good progress through the ranks, Private. ;)

Thank you for your hard work i did not know you and its really sad to hear your no longer doing it anymore. I have checked the updates but i never thought about how the list was done, but i appreciate the hard work you have put in. I hope you will still be active here. Dont let the people who submit spam put you off there is plenty of quality on the portal.

Welcome to EGB congratulations! on your getting in to the barracks. Sorry about your whistle i assume you been to to Rage thread although with the confusig info about whats abusive. I assume that how you got your garbage whistle y,ou will i sure hopefully get it back and be able to no longer be a roaster.

Welcome to EGB congratulations!

He's not in the EGB yet due to his Garbage whistle. He's technically still a Guardsman - at least until he restores his whistle to normal status.

Meh, they were a decent size back around the summer of 2007 or so. They sucked.

oops! You are right, but as long as the submission was pulled for review that's what matters.

General announcement -

Rosters will resume as normal on Tuesday. I was thinking of changing the roster day to Sunday or something, when I (and others) have more time, but I decided to keep it going as it's always been for now. Perhaps in the future I'll change it around a bit, but for now I see no real reason to.

I still haven't found anyone to work with me on the rosters. I've had one PM from pinoyguy75, but he admits himself that he's somewhat forgetful and that I'd probably have to remind him each fortnight, which frankly I can't be bothered to do. No hard feelings, pinoyguy, I appreciate the offer nevertheless.

For now, I'll continue the rosters by myself, until I find someone who I feel would eventually be capable of taking on the rosters themselves, should I eventually have to pass on my duty. Applicants should, as stated before, PM me to express their interest.

You know, changing it to Sunday wouldn't be a bad idea. I'd support this change for these two reasons:

- It's the beginning of the week, so you'd know how well you did in a whole week, not two half-weeks. For example, if you had a busy week you pace would drop that week, not affecting the following one. This would make the top 5 gainers more competitive, I guess;

- Why Tuesday? It's the worst day of the week for me, I think it's the day I'm less active here than any other day in the week.

Those are pretty much the reasons I came up with. I'll have a think about it, but for now it'll stay on a Tuesday.

I prefer not to ask anybody, because some people would feel obliged to say yes even if they didn't really want to do it/have the time. It's better IMO to let people use their own initiative and express an interest themselves, because it shows that they really are willing to help out, so that's the way I'm doing it for now.

A good officer/potential officer should use their initiative anyway, so this is again a good test to see who would be worthy of such a position.

Wow this has been quite a dead day on this thread. Not many strange happenings in the portal I guess. Although krinkles did submit a new little short related to "through the fire and flames" which I thought was classic krinkles and deserved a score of at least 4, but unfortunately it only received a 3.88 and he pulled it. Well that's all the excitement I can think of that happened today. Man I hate boring days like this.
