I just read your story in the NG Mafia (not because of this little abuse of power I might add, I would have read it sooner or later anyway). Right, a bit of constructive criticism (I hope).

One thing- I noticed a lot of typos and some grammatical errors while I was reading it, probably due to how quickly you wrote it. In fact some sentences didn't really make sense, although it was possible to understand the gist of them, and there are a number of places where a colon/semi colon is needed rather than a comma. It didn't detract from the story, but being the grammar Nazi that I am I thought I would mention it :). Plus some of those longer paragraphs really need breaking up. Although they are technically fine, for a story posted on the BBS it makes it harder to read.

In fact if you ever want someone to proof read your work before you post it I'd be happy to volunteer. Even the best authors need someone else to read over their work to pick out the things they've missed. I'm sure there are better candidates out there than myself should you want a proof reader, but the offer is there all the same.

Excellent work though sir, I look forward to the next installment.

Eagle, and those members who still blam spammy KK/SS/UU/RR entries, I have decided to give up. Let's face it, their entries are going to get protected anyway because of the mass voting. I have lost a few hundred of protection points voting 0 or 1 on those entries. Unfortunately, despite all my efforts of stopping them, almost all of them got in anyway. I hate to say this, but I am tired of losing free protection points by blamming something that will be protected. So I have made my decision about giving up blamming those entries. The whole reason for B/Ping is not to gain points and be a stat whore, it's to protect the Portal from shitty flashes. Basically, what your saying is that your giving up defending the Portal. I'll admit, I have givin some of the shit flashes 2's, but usually I don't. I hope you change your thinking DoD, it just isn't right to the Portal.

I don't agree with you, Hemlok. I think you should get all the B/P points you can get until you get EGSC. That means that's the highest your voting power you can get. Thus, you have more power in your votes. Thus, you have more effect on the 0's and 1's on those crappy flashes that pass because of mass voting. That's the best way probably

So that's it? OH mommy, things aren't going my way!. YOU SUCK! How can you just give up because things aren't going the way you would like? The thing about the EGB (just in case you forgot) is that we pride ourselves in protecting the Portal, instead of focusing on blams and saves. The moment you give up, you're doing exactly what we are not supposed to do, and that's vote in order to increase our stats.

Although that is an interesting point of view I'm in total agreement with Hemlok on this one, and I'm willing to bet that EagleRock and Phantom agree as well. The purpose of this club is to protect the portal and to vote on submissions fairly. That means not just voting 0's and 5's, which I've heard is a commonly employed tactic outside of this club, and also to blam submissions that deserve to be blammed. That doesn't mean just blindly giving a 0 to every KK/UU/RR etc. submission you see, but watching it and giving it what it deserves. Believe it or not they do produce something worth saving once in a while.

I have given a 2 to one or two entries that I have seen today, but only to those that I felt deserved a 2. In the case of these gost movies there are one or two that ar quite well animated even if it is just a looping picture. I can't influence your votes- that is against the rules, but I can ask that you vote fairly on every submission and don't go out there chasing points. You'll get to EGSC one day, a few points here and there will NOT make the difference.

So the one's that you save before you hit Elite Guard Supreme Commander are worthy of being in the Portal? And if the theory you have made was what people do, what about the other members that haven't reach Elite Guard Supreme Commander? What you have basically said is a huge cycle of people getting Elite Guard Supreme Commander by maybe a few weeks quicker then blamming what needs to be blammed. Until the majority of people have reached EGSC that theory would never work. The masses that would save it can definately overrun the EGSC users. Sorry, but I strongly disagree with you and your theory.

Alright, let's take this flash as an example. Do you think it deserves to stay? Of course other people vote 5's on all of the KK/UU/SS/RR flashes because they know they will be saved. The Elite Guard Barracks are people who respect the Portal so much that they will blam flashes that they know in the back of their minds will survive. Hey, do what you want, I will not stop you and I will support your decision. I just don't think it's so great to have flashes that don't deserve to have a spot in the Portal last. What really pisses me off is how all of the mass voting crews usually spend 5 minutes on their flashes and they still get saved when a single member has a flash that may not be good, but at least he spent time on his work and put some effort into it, it still gets blammed. I would much rather have a poor flash in the Portal that had effort into it then a crappy flash that had five minutes put into. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm sticking to my beliefs.

The reason they survive is that all the members in the crew vote 5, AND THEN a bunch of other people see them, see they are bound to pass, and vote 2. All you are doing is adding to the problem. If everybody who voted 2 instead voted 0 they would be blammed, and hopefully the more we set a good example and continue to blam what deserves to be blammed then more people will vote 0 and the undeserving flash will find themselves in the graveyard where they belong.

There is a thread by Wade that says almost exactly the same thing if you don't believe me, which I am going to hunt down...

Btw, what you wrote is almost the exact definition of being a stat whore. I'm trying not to accuse you here- you're not the only one voting 2, and from what you have said this is only a recent change of heart, but if you persue this method of voting then you ARE a stat whore.

I have said time and time again that the purpose of this club has grown to protect the Portal, no matter what. You don't think I've lost hundreds of points myself voting on how I truly felt, rather than voting on what would give me points? Sure I did. However, my efforts, in my opinion, did not go in vain. If you, me, the rest of the Barracks, and the rest of the people that we can reach out to work to vote on what a flash deserves, it will take the power away from mass-voters. If you decide to vote 2 on a flash you do not feel should be passed, then you are no better than the mass-voters yourself. You are deciding to choose greed over what is right, which is exactly what the Barracks is against. Voting FAIRLY does not always maximize B/P. I still made it to EGSC without a problem.

Your opinion also is going against what the Barracks stands for. Any votes you would have given during your quest for 30,000 points would be for the wrong reasons.

Another point I forgot to add to this debate is how special is that badge to you if you will do whatever it takes to get it. It's just like using cheat codes at the very beginning of a video game, sure you will beat the game, but it isn't as satisfying as it would have been if you beat it with skill and practice. Once you get that badge, half of the reason you are staring at it in your profile is because of all of those terrible flashes you accepted into the Portal. My point in saying this is that badge so important to you that you will corrpt the Portal just to get it?

His 4th post down specifically says that if those voting 2 voted 0 these flash would be blammed. This is the last I'm going to say on the issue- I see Hemlok, EagleRock and pepeatumi are all in agreement with me on this and I hope that what we have said has at least made you think a little differently about how you vote on these submissions.

As a matter of fact, I voted 0 on the moive. When I checked his profile, I found out that he was not a SS member since he only had 1 protected entry. Then I realized that nobody could protect his flash from going to the graveyard. >:) Another reason why I started to vote 2 on KK/UU/SS/RR entries is because some of them are mildly funny. Sure they are spammy, but some of them are funny enough to be protected based on my standard. Maybe you do not agree with me, but I vote based on what I like to vote. I know exactly what Eagle is saying. Just like most of you, I used to hate those spammy flashes. But recently, for some werid reasons, their toilet humor had me laugh quite a lot. For me, a funny flash with bad graphics derserves to pass because they made me laugh. Maybe you do not find those flashes funny, but I do. So I vote whatever I want.

Again, I'm not responding to your posts to tell you how to vote. You can vote anyway you like. I agree with you, some of those flashes are pretty funny, but most of them are not. I can understand you saving some of them every once and awhile but if your going to save every single one, I don't think that's right. I don't think all of them have made you laugh, I could be wrong, I'm just saying it is highly unlikely. Make it simple. I blam when it is crap and protect when it is funny. Sure those crews have bad reputations, but some of their work is really GOOD. I have the full rights to protect those who I find entertaining, there is nothing wrong with that.

Hey, what's up guys. I just had like two dakaries, which isn't much, but jeez. Anyways, I released a Flash today called "[as] FIGHT FOR NG! part 6" which is a series a friend and I started. Anyways, as for the mass-voting, I find it sickening. Even though I know they will pass, I vote 0 anyways, unless I find them humerous, then I vote 2-3, mostly two.

On the news of Flash, I'm making a Flash, of 3.00+ quality, which will slightly revolve around the Barracks. I don't know if I will submit a Christmas episode or not, but I'll still try. Anyways, Hemlok, you and I should make a collab. I don't know if you have any previous Flash experiance, but if you do, that will be wonderful.
