Newgrounds, I've been everywhere. Marriage Counselors, Therapists, Psycholigists, you name it, and nobody has been able to give me a conclusive answer about my marriage problems. You see, I love my wife. She's beautiful, smart, and a fun person to be around. I can see myself getting old with her, it's such a special connection we have.

And yet, all of that just seems so shallow when I realized that she's allergic to dogs. I don't have a dog, but I really want to get one. I've never actually had a dog, but I can see myself having fun playing "fetch" with a black labrador. My wife, of course, disagrees, since she's allergic. She's recommended cats and birds and every kind of pet under the sun, but I won't have it. I really can't stand her not being able to live with an allergy, it seems selfish of her.

So, Newgrounds, what do I do?

Think you're pretty clever...

Don't get a dog if you're serious, because that sounds insanely insensitive of you.

I agree. With all the allergy medicines out there, she's just doing this to spite you. She's just being obsessive about her body. Why doesn't she understand that if she really loved you and was really loyal, she'd just get a dog? God, I hate when people don't even think about their partners needs.

It's insensitive of her, because she's so obsessive about her sensitive allergies. She should think of his needs. He needs to be fulfilled, too! I think she's just doing that because she wants to make him miserable. She's probably making it up. Gunter, you should see her doctor's statements to see if she's faking or not!

That's pretty shallow of ya' to sit there and debate your marriage over an allergy...You're a rather superficial kind of guy huh?

Pretty shallow of ya'...

In fact, NO ONE could be that shallow, this has to be a joke. =/

I don't see your name in green, so you don't get to say that.

As for the topic, hey, I'M allergic to dogs, but I kept mine until his sad death three years ago, she can get shots, take medicine, there's a ton of options out there for her to get the allergy under control so you can enjoy the dog, and she can still live in comfort. It's not the dog anyway, it's the hair, long as that gets taken care of? Problem solved. You should explain this to her and if she's still going to be selfish about the dog problem, well, I dunno, maybe time to look for a new wife.

To be honest, I've thought about that. We've actually expressed interest in each other for the past 4 months or so. She actually has a dog that is absolutely adorable. Her dog is a beautiful Golden Retreiver by the name of Katy. She's just the most energetic thing you've ever seen. I think I might follow up on your advice, maybe take her out to dinner or something and see where it goes.

Get a standard poodle. They don't shed so there's no worries with a dander allergy.

Not with technology. Now she can take shots or pills or whatever. I think she's compromising his happiness for her own laziness to get medicine. She'd sacrifice her comfort for her husband's love. What kind of a woman is she?

I don't think you read the thread, asshole, I want to get the kind of dog I want. I don't want to get a poodle, that's the whole point. And as a sidenote to my previous response. I don't think I'm going to follow up with my wife's friend. I don't want somebody else's dog, I want my own dog. I'm glad you posted that, it made me think.

The whole point is that she's only thinking of herself. Marriage is a comprimise, jerk. Hell, I've made compromises for her. We're going to live closer to her family, I think that deserves some kind of recompense.

And thanks LG and avie, you guys understand that there are steps that can be taken to living with a dog. I've been trying to tell her that, but she's just being stubborn about it. Hell, avie, you even have an allergy yourself.

Wow you seem very adamant about the whole thing. If this upsets you this much maybe there is more here then just wanting a dog eh? Forgive me if i am being an ass about this but i dont like to see people hurt each other over small matters. perhapse something else is bothering you and this event has only brought it out into the open. you should find out what that is whether it be her fault or yours. just be careflu with how you react so as not to damage you relationiship further. Try your best k good luck.

All I can say is that marriage is for suckers. Unless you actually marry a women who isn't money hungry or only cares about herself.
If you want a dog and doesn't want one them slap a collar on your wife and make her into a dog. . . I am not being a prick I am being serious. You can have man's best friend and your lover all in one. . damn good idea. . I am gonna go and market that idea to Walmart.

Dont give it up man there is always a chance.

You've got to be insane! That's the problem you have?! There's a butt-load of guys on the NG BBS that would love to have your "problem!" You can't expect someone to suffer everyday, just because you want a dog! But lets be practical about it. The average dog lives for 14 years. On the other hand, you have what sounds like a great wife. She'll probably be around longer than 14 years, she can give you children, she can probably cook, and unless you're a total pervert, you can have sex with your wife but not a dog! Wake-up and be happy with the fact that you found a woman who's not a damn gold-digger.... But, let me know if you decide to be an idiot and get a dog anyway. That way, when your wife leaves you for treating her like garbage, she can come stay with me!
