What's a decent one go for these days?
Well, you definately want a Wacom one. The Intuos series is very good. I've got an Intuos 3 (the latest piece of kit) at the moment which set me back around £700.
As for 'cheap' and 'decent'; they are two words that don't go together when you are buying a graphics tablet. If you get a cheap one, then it probably isn't not very sensitive and generally crap.
Don't pay anything less than £350 for one, otherwise it's not going to do what you want, last or be as good as the others you could have bought.
So without doubt get a Wacom. They are really long lasting (my Intuos 1 still works perfectly, I just needed a larger, more up to date and responsive tab) and high quality. As a plus you can also get lots of cool pens to create neat effects. I've got an airbrush, italic brush, paintbrush and an Intuos pen/pencil/brush . You just go and buy the official Wacom pens, install the plug-ins and away you go!
