I've gettin' after lotsa music that I'm supposed to like lately:

I've been gettin' after Buck-o-Nine lately, and wow, I'm not impressed. I'm not really seeing why people get up & arms over them, but then again I'm more into the punk influenced ska.

The Suicide Machines - A Match & Some Gasoline its aight, but its considerably their weakest album next to S/T. It had some crazy catchy tracks, but as an ensemble, it really fell short. Steal This Record was pretty damn good though, but maybe its just 'cause I like pop punk.

BtMI! - Get Warmer Demos, I'm a big sucker for this band and this album, but shit, Jeff really didn't care how this shit came out, his voice doesn't hit a lot of notes and it features really bare instrumentation.

Streetlight Manifesto - Somewhere in the Between, I finally sat down and listen'd to this album, and the first half of this album is amazing, whereas the ending is kindof dull and forced.. I love the metal riffs and that the guitar is actually a prominent instrument on this album compared to KN & EGN where Tom was rockin' a pretty dull overdrive in the background while the horns took mainstage.

K, I'm tired of typing. Can someone help me up the ska?

I never understood why people liked BTMI. They're not that catchy to me and it was a ear sore to listen to them. I'm probably going to get Mustard Plug's new-ish album soon.

Yeah but Warped Tour tickets are expensive, and then 'ya gotta deal with all the kids. But I'll probably end up going when it hits my town.

Just hoping Against Me! plays more than just New Wave.

@BNM checked their new album? Its not as loud and chaotic, and their new songs on their MySpace are aight, but they're more indie than ska or punk. I wasn't that big a fan either actually, but I guess it's an "acquired taste".

Eh. just got after Catch 22's Permanent Revolution. Its mediocre, but beats the fuck out of Dinosaur Sounds.

Also Big D & The Kids Table's How It Goes, I like it better than Strictly Rude, but I don't see what all the fuss about Big D is for. I mean a lot of its catchy, but its not spectacular. Also an hour long album, though a sweet deal, is REALLY FUCKING LONG.

plz undie

Are they even still considered ska? I thought they ditched the horns and upstrokes a while back.

LTJ is bouncing back and forth between ska and pop punk. But goldfinger have completely erased the sound. Goldfinger's new album is also coming out in two days.

So, I don't come here often, but I have some pretty wicked news to tell you guys.

You see, there was this concert going on at my college and a bunch of mediocre bands were going to be playing........ until today. Turns out that the guy from OneRepublic tore his Achilles and they can't play and need to be replaced.

By who? Why, REEL BIG FISH!

And now I have to rush over and buy a ticket and miss out on a huge paper, but it's worth it.

As night slowly creeps across the land, a somber tune reminds me of better days.

The members of RBF (mainly Aaron) are complete assholes. Last time i saw them my friends band was supposed to open the show but RBF kicked them off the list because they wanted more playing time. New RBF stuff is horrible as well...

They do put on one hell of a show though...

RBF was my first "ska" band I got into. So I guess they have that, seeing as how much I fell in love with Turn the Radio Off, over whatever else I was listening to when I was eleven. But their last two albums have been pretty mediocre, Monkeys being especially horrible, seeing as the only tracks I enjoyed were the re-recordings from Everything Sucks.

Plus, RBF is more or less just a catchy band, y'know? They don't have like real deep shit or nothing that you can connect to or be inspired by. Its just music.

I like Big D more than I do Mustard Plug, RBF, Streetlight, or any other 3rd wave bands tbh. Perhaps that's just me.

Thank you for getting me hooked on Choking Victim! Way better than Leftover Crack. Although I did enjoy some of their songs, most Leftover Crack has a little too much crust for me.

By the way, someone tell me what the best Mad Caddies album is?

Eh, I don't know. I like them alright, but I like Streetlight's and RBF's sound more than Big D. I guess it's just a matter of opinion.

Also, hey guys. I joined this a while ago and I've just recently come back to C&C about a week ago. So uh, hey.

I got after The Mad Caddies in the last few days. I don't know how popular they are, but I vaguely remember hearing about them, thinking they were a 2Tone band.

But they're good and people should check them out. They sound like a big mix of Westbound Train, 311, and roots of World/Inferno Friendship Society.

This dude at my record shop told me about them, he was eavesdropping on me when I asked my metalhead friend if he liked ska while looking for the Mighty Mighty Bosstones new album.

He approached me and my friend, and suggested I listen to Streetlight, which I thought was kind of silly. Subsequently he didn't know who The Mighty Mighty Bosstones were, MU330, One Cool Guy, Buck-o-Nine, Choking Victim, or Skankin' Pickle were. It was an extensive conversation which brought how critical my music dependency is getting.

So I want to go see the Voodoo Glow Skulls with Whole Wheat Bread, Awful Waffle, Hub City Stompers and Knockout tomorrow night in Westfield, but my friend hasn't answered me so I dunno if I'll get to go... :(

Not too many ska shows coming by lately; s'ashame.
