Anyone heard the new Reel Big Fish/Zolof The Rock And Roll Destoryer or Bad Brains/Big D and The Kids Table split CD's?

Dammit, there's a Ska Crew? I should have been on top of this.

Both splits are streaming on Punknews.org, they're fucking awesome. It's Brain Failure/Big D, not Bad Brains, although they're apparently coming out with a cd this year too.

So, consider us a member.

Then we'll just have to revive it!

I looked through some of the threads and a Ska Crew animation came up. We have an animation coming out (hopefully) soon with Big D and the Kids Table guest starring, I think it might help with awareness. Are there any other animators here? Maybe we could do something along the lines of We hate it when....

I would love to join
Favorite bands:
The Aquabats
Mad Caddies
Mustard Plug(The best ska band ever period)
Streetlight Manifesto
Five Iron Frenzy
The Toasters
The(English) Beat
Less Than Jake
BTM
Big D & The Kids Table
Reel Big Fish
Catch 22
Goldfinger(ska I guess)
Operation Ivy(some people call them two tone)
Thats really all the ska that know of if anyone would suggest some bands to me that would be cool. I listen to lots of bands already but there is definitely room for more.
Its a shame that I live in California we really don't have many Ska bands that come and play. We do get a lot of Grindcore, Metalcore, and Hardcore so I guess I really can't complain :D.

That would be awesome. Which song?

We abandoned the flash idea because none of us are great flash users, if anything Skanking by Numbers by mustard plug wouldve been a nice for a flash video.

We're not sure what songs we're going to use, we actually still haven't gotten them to record their voices for it yet. It's been a pain in the ass getting them, what with their two cds, dvd, and endless touring. But it's totally happening!

If you guys want, we could probably ask around ngcollabs.com or some of the other groups. There's bound to be more ska fans around.

Mustard Plug is awesome.

Check out Suburban Legends, they're from Orange County. I saw them a couple times in Boston, they put on a fun show.

I asked Dave McWane, and he said he'd want to see a video for Bender. I thought that would be a good one to team up with the NG Drunks for, but I cant find them.

We finished recording for the animation, so I'm hoping it'll be done some time in April. I'm going to try and split up Bender and put up a post on ngcollabs some time this week.

Dammit, I feel like such a creepy Big D fanboy now. So here's my list of other Ska bands I love
The Aquabats
Catch 22
Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Mustard Plug
The Planet Smashers
Reel Big Fish
The Skatalites
Suburban Legends
Suicide Machines
Voodoo Glow Skulls
and a whole bunch of other ones. Outside of that I listen to all kinds of music, but my favorite non-ska band is Dillinger Four.

Still going to buy it when it comes out though (stealing is wrong...unless you're broke). Have you checked out Beijing to Boston?

I can't believe this club is alive again. Anyway about japanese ska bands, check out Tokio ska paradise orchestra. They're amazingly good and have like 20+ cd's. It's insane.

Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra is fucking amazing. I think of the cds I've listened to so far, my favorite has to be High Tension Beaters. On the subject of japanese ska bands, check out Oreskaband.

Does anyone here listen to the Planet Smashers? I've been meaning to check them out. What's a good cd to start on?

I'm not too sure about what cd's they have because I just pick and choose from free share sites but I would start off with missionary's downfall, it's pretty sweet and will stay in your head for a while.

This is something I've been wondering about for a little while now. Everybody knows about the mid-90s ska explosion. I actually got into ska because of "The Impression That I Get". Towards the end of the 90s though, the mainstream pretty much stopped playing ska (incidentially, this was when boy bands started getting popular) and people mostly stopped listening.

A lot of times when I hear about the death of ska it's blamed on a bunch of talentless hanger-on bands that nobody really liked. I'm not really sure why, because I always thought it was that a bunch of bands either broke up or moved further away from ska.

So I want to know, what bands killed ska?

Sweet, thanks. :D

Also, I DLed this new ska band comprised of all like 14-to-16-year-old kids, called 24-Hour Taco Shop. They're not bad.
