A crew for all the Ska lovers! :D

Here you can Discuss, and trade songs if you have any.

I've decided to make this since I saw how many people on NG like Ska :P

Since I run this club with SHP, here are the following guidelines that are easy to follow.

1. All discussions have to stay on the topic of ska, ska bands, news involving ska or anything else ska.

2. If you don't like ska, then get out, why are you here? Idiot.

3. Have fun

4. Don't have too much fun.

5. But seriously, have fun.

I have a box set with all their albums. I just never considered them to be ska before. I guess it makes sense.

Less Than Jake is a Punk Ska band. Like Reel Big Fish or Mad Caddies.

Oh ok. I was never a big fan of that kind of stuff but if madness is ska then I guess I'm likely to be a fan of the genre.

I have to join, i tryed to make the Less Than Jake crew a long time ago, but it died very quickly. Unfortinatlety, this club might die after this club has been tried a few times, but due to the non-mainstreamness of the music, it's not popular around here. But i hope this club stays alive.

I'm in.

Well, this club is slowly dying. The only way to keep it alive is to feed it posts.

Anyway, anyone know that song by Five Iron Frenzy, "Rhubarb Pie"? It gives me a very warming feeling for some reason.

Yay, sounds like we have a good ska crew going.

So, I'm a huge ska fan. I listen to traditional, two tone, third wave, and the local stuff.

Speaking of which, Connecticut has got to have the biggest, if not, one of the biggest, ska scenes in the country. It's just amazing how many people go to shows and such. More than half of my friends don't even live in my town; I met them at shows and they live somewhere else.

And I hope you all skank. Really. Skanking is fun for all.

I go to shows all the time, and you should all post which ones you're going to/been to.

My favorite bands at the moment are Big D and the Kids Table and Arrogant Sons Of Bitches.

And New Jersey isn't! :D

I have trouble skanking. It's multitasking of the dance.

I'd like to join :)

I appreciate all three waves of the genre, and my local scene as well (see sig).

Currently, my favorite bands are Streetlight Manifesto, The English Beat, and Stealing From Peter (Local).

BTW, If you live in MA/CT or anywhere in the vicinity of New England, come to the Catch 22 Xmas show at the Webster Theater in Hartford CT. Catch 22, and Big D.

Shameless plug time.

Yay, SPR! And everyone, visit that site. A lot of my friends are there, and there are links to local bands, which are really good ones!

But, I'm keeping my eyes peeled.

Try looking for small, local shows, with about 6-7 bands playing, that you can get into for $8

Though, I myself have yet to go to a local show :\

I'm also seeing Less Than Jake on January 27th at the Webster Theater in Hartford CT. I'm so glad they're coming back...

I missed them last time they came to CT...

Yay, I get to see you twice within a period of one month!

Unless you go to Fortunado's reunion. Dec. 23rd in Windsor.

Yes, but in my opinion, there are better bands.

I really don't know why they are the only really mainstream ska band that I hear on the radio and stuff.

Try listening to some Less Than Jake, Streetlight Manifesto, and the Mad Caddies, for starters.

I just downloaded the whole BTMI! album from their site. You guys should do it, too! And incase you didn't know, they are a side band of ASOB. And if you haven't heard of ASOB, ...then that sucks.

Most ska bands have side bands these days. Like Streetlight having Catch 22 and Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution.

Holy shit, that BTMI! Album is great. I need an ASOB CD, though. Anybody got one?

I kinda just started getting into Ska, I have the Keasby Nights song by catch 22.

I hate people who spell Lynard Skynard wrong.

VERY nice. I suggest you get that album anyway you can, because it's one of the top 3 albums I've heard in my whole life.

Get the full album, It's probably the best starting point if you want to get into the genre. It was also my first true introduction to Ska. You might want to check out Streetlight Manifesto and Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution.
