Aaargh! I'm trying to do some moving text for an upcoming Flash Submission of mine but for some reason it wont work. Here's what I have:

Two pieces of text are on seperate layers. Each textbox has been converted to an MC and thirty frames ahead on the timeline I have inserted a keyframe on both layers where they're off screen. For the 28 frames in between the two keyframes I have created a motion tween (once again on both layers).

I've used this method many times before and it's worked. For some reason though, this is time Flash is being stubborn and wont do it. Now that I think about it, it hasnt been letting me fade MC's out either. What could possibly be the problem?

About the fading, try breaking the text with ctrl+b

Breaking the text? What would that do...and if I did would I do that specifically to the text box or to the MC containing the text box?

To the text. Breaking it will sometimes solve the problem about the fading.

Hmmm....ok. I'll try that in a bit. Any ideas regarding my problems with the moving text?

Okay. So, youve got the ACTUAL TEXT as an MC, or Graphic. And in frame one, you have it at someplace. Then, in frame thirthy, you have it off the screen (BUT NOT IN BLANK KEYFRAME) TThen you tween. I dont see any problem.

Unless the actual text isnt a symbol. otherwise, you would have to use shape tween.

Both textboxes are MC's. You don't see the problem? Niether do I, lol. I'll try not converting the textboxes to MC's and just using a shape tween.

Hmmm... They are on different layers, right...

TEXTBOX = MC
TEXTBOX = in own layer

I = dont see a goddamn prob.

Exactly! I don't see a problem either! Like I said, I've used this exact same method countless times before and its worked fine. I've fucked around with this for hours now but to no avail. When I break the text, motion works fine but then I have to move every single letter and in perfect unison (which I reeeeallly dont want to do, its so time consuming). There must be some stupid small glitch somewhere that I'm overlooking...

Actually, since I've found breaking to work with motion I'm going to use that to my advantage. Instead of the text moving off screen I'm going to have each individual letter fly off in a different direction. In the end, I geuss this will make my Flash movie better, lol. Thanx for your help anyways.

If you are still early on in this flash, i would suggest redoing it. This will save you the tears of having it get really fucked up later on (syncing stuff). If you are already well along the way, just make sure that you are on the correct frame. Often this is the problem, and you just dont notice it. If you are having alpha problems, just convert it to a graphic. Works every time.
