Hey liljim;

Is it possible for you to code up the voting thing so that you have to actually watch the movie? that way all the people who are complaining about people who just vote without watching will have nothing to complain about.

If someone else allready suggested this im just restating it, otherwise consider it please.

another idea would be to restrict voting for non-grounds gold account members (im not sure if their votes actually have any weight, but if they do changing this would help out).

AAH!

all my movies, which had somewhat sunk into obscurity (as they were posted before the whole blam/protection point thing and were pretty much off the portal frontpage in an hour..) have recently been deleted off of newgrounds, a few of them had good scores, too good for any one or group of people to take off on thier own, damn server upgrades.........

tom, what the hell? this has done nothing but complicate the lives of the authors that come here, you're starting a revolution man! half the place loves that damn little nark button, the other half (including me) hates it with a passion, this is how wars start......

do you all really think that it's a good idea to give the average newgrounds user the power to take a movie off of the portal? i dont know about the rest of you, including everyone reading this, but that scares the hell outta me, i've had movies blammed off here in seconds just because someone was in a bad mood...

anyways...i suppose that's all for me, the prozac is starting to take effect so i'm gonna go to my happy place now :D

*freezes for a minute*

where did all these pretty butterflies come from?

they didn't before?

i dont know about the rest of you, including everyone reading this, but that scares the hell outta me, i've had movies blammed off here in seconds just because someone was in a bad mood...

are you sure it was just one person who was responcable for blaming your movie?

anyways...i suppose that's all for me, the prozac is starting to take effect so i'm gonna go to my happy place now :D

By the way, im guessing you didn't read each and every post yet, so ill sumerize how this new thing works (obviously you don't know yet).

the person viewing a movie sees that its uniproprialte (pornagraphic/hatefull/stolen... whatever) it gets flaged. the movie doesn't go poof. an administrator views the film and judges if it is offensive or stolen or whatever. if it is then its removed, if it isnt then it stays, no one gets hurt. Where is the bad in this system?
Hopefully now you understand that it isnt just "I press this button and poof your movie is gone". Nope thats not how it works.

Hope you change your mind about the system.

I find that reviewing, watching, & voting on movie submissions just simply isn't fun anymore. Even if a movie was total garbage I could read the reviews left behind from others after watching it, some would leave some pretty funny reviews like The_Red_Soviet used to.

Sure, you could read reviews after a movie is blammed but only for a split second before the movie is taken off the portal. I agree that a bit of the "democracy" of newgrounds has been killed off by changing the system like this. I used to enjoy reading some of the more entertaining reviews left behind from other people after a particularly bad movie or sometimes a good one but now it's just watch/vote/post a review that will only probably be seen by the author. BORING.

I usually used the review writer to let out opinions & communicate as the BBS forums are still littered with complete idiots & retarded topics even after removing the spam. I could only hope they remove the warning labels from items in the world so they can kill themselves off.

Forcing people to watch movies to vote is a very bad idea. People would purposely make long stupid movies or the like so you wouldn't want to watch them & thus their submission would remain clogging up the portal.

Speaking of clogging up the portal, I noticed that more submissions are being sent in than blammed on a daily basis. 100 something today got blammed but 120 ish made it from yesterday so that's an extra 20 movies which I never seen before in a while as it's usually more movies blammed than sent in. The portal population is slowly rising back up so the portal will be a clogged mess again most likely.

This blow the whistle idea is still not that great as how many people does it take before they remove a movie? 10-20 clicks? I'd hate to be the one to click on a movie with 100 pop-ups then having to click on the blow the whistle thing when it's probably been clicked on by 20 different users before & it still hasn't been removed by an admin. It was SO much easier to just read a review or two saying it had a virus/pop-ups or stolen. Then I wouldn't have to click on it in the first place. This is why I don't even click on movies from new authors anymore unless it's a reoccuring author.

Under this new system, when a movie is BLAMmed, its review remain for all to read, as a sort of eulogy.

I am not sure if NG should allow extremely offensive material..but if it does then it should have a rating system, maybe you could select "only see unoffensive content" and "only see things under 1mb" etc..thatd please the clean-minded 56kers :)

With these recent changes, I too think that movies will get the scores they deserve.

Thanks for continuing to improve Newgrounds.

By the way, I was wondering you don't let people see the number of votes cast on a movie which is still under judgement.

Also, is there any chance of having a list of the movies with the fewest votes?

either way, stay healthy and alive.

well if you took enough time to write that stuff then maybe a couple more seconds of your precious time would help you from stating bad facts and making yourself look dumb. (don't get affended by that.)

i know how the new system works, but I liked the old system better

ok, thats nice.

things just started getting out of hand with the whole blam/protection point thing, so piss off

sounds like your contradicting your point earlyer.

I'll voice my opinions wherever and whenever the hell I want, and YOOOU cant stop me

its nice to have an opinion, its also nicer to have a clue about the subject of your opinion, so I wrote all that so that you would be on track.

the fact that everyone is entitled to their own opinion is not the issue, the real issue is that you understand what the issue is about.

hope you find this entertaining, and informative, and in the future you do read the key points in a discussion.

A couple of things to add.

I just noticed the way that you can now your responses on the screen where you choose which review to respond to. Great stuff! I like to respond to all the reviews folk write for my stuff, and the way it was previously set up did prove to be a mild irritation at times.

Keep up the great work - Newgrounds really has improved so much these past few months.

Secondly - have you considered maybe also telling users whether a submission is a movie or a game in the roll-over stats box? This could prove to be as useful as some of the other additions you've made.

I have been reading the posts in this thread and if they want to get rid of the viewing the scores completely then they should get rid of the Verge of Death marker on movie in the portal, some one can just swoop in and get themselves a blam point with out viewing the movie or playing the game because they know that users have voted low and it is about to be blamed. Please tell me if I am wrong.

I say that everyone that doesn't like the new idea should get a new alias, and start blowing the whistle on every submission..........when your alias is blocked, get a different one and keep blowing (lol)

i think this is a very good idea, it means ppl have to use there own opinions!!!! it cant b that hard now can it it kids? HELL NO is the answer to that one, one thing tho, i rekon after u review it, u shud b able to see all the reviews, not just the ones b4 u, and the author shud b able to see the score/reviews, other wise sum1 might have a really gd point, eg "change the framerate to 12" and if it gets blammed b4 s/he can see it that wud b no help

I definately think something should be done about the assholes who come around and give bad reviews to good pieces of work. And I call them assholes because that's what they are; I mean what else would you call someone who gives a "0" to something, and explains it with "It was gay! Gay ass fag! This sucks!" Wow, a riveting review. They should consider writing for Rolling Stone or something. These little 12 year old, South Park rejects need to find something better to do.

You need to hear about this. I have been making money for doing nothing but reading emails. A company pays me to read advertisements they send me and I read them and then validate that I have read them and get paid. I recieve 2-4 emails a day and get paid 2 cents for each one. That doesnt seem like alot but the real money is is the referals. I have refered many people and I am getting paid close to 40 bucks a month. The referal system works 2 levels down so I get paid for each email that is read 2 levels down. This is so easy and it is authentic. I really have been getting paid. I just want to get the word out and boost my referals while doing it. All you have to do is goe to this link and follow the instructions on the page.

http://hits4pay.com/members/index.cgi?Severus

This is all you have to do to make a monthly income. It is a great way to get extra cash, especially around the holidays.

i have an idear about the reviews
ok i know its a good idear to not let people read the reviws b4 they vote, how about after they vote (on the thanks for voting page) you put a link to the reviews on that page
there would be no problem with voting because of the reviews as they have already voted on the movie
