Reason or Fruity Loops those are the main ones
"In this world // We walk on the roof of hell, // Gazing at flowers." -- Issa
i use cool edit fpor effects , reason 3.0 , recycle for samples , sometimes fuity loops Sonar 4 for recording and mastering
sony acid 4.0
reason 3.0
fruity loops 5.0
tons of vst's
The names Food, WillPostForFood.
Music Generator to line in samples, then mix them up with reason 3 and edit it with acid 4
mmm...depends. ejay is good for when u just started out, so if ur (no offense by this) still a noob at music mixing stick with that for a bit. i use dance ejay 6 for most of my stuff (lol, axeman666 = noob). but, if you want to get good at it use FL5. i never tried reason. which one u think guys, reason or FL?
where can i get these programs and are they free?
If you're new to music, and don't play an instrument, or have little knowledge of therory, use Fruityloops. Its eaisier to learn from scratch. Programs like Reason requre you to know somthing about midi sequencing before hand.
Music generator is cool, too bad its a PS2 game format. The samples are very basic(MG2) and its impossible to upload any signature samples. I just feel that by arranging music visually, I can acheive a greater ryhthm and flow. If anyone knows about a visual sampler with its own collection of rifts for the PC, please post it. Other than that, I use magix studio 2004. It's kind of tricky and messy, but it makes it easy to burn your work to CD.
I've been using Digital Performer. Anyone heard of it?
I started on ejay. Some people say, "ejay is for retards" But actually, it taught me a lot about structuring music.

I'd back that up well, although you don't really make music with E-jay, it more or less makes music for you (soviet russia anyone?), but it does give a good education of how to phrase and mix music to make somthing more interesting. Its every noobs mistake to make a kicking techno beat, but only have it going on for 9 bars. Not 4. Not 8. Not 16, but 9. I've heard it happen, and it sounds aweful.
For anyone whos confused, heed this advice:
ONLY MAKE MAJOR CHANGES (adding instruments, changing key) Every 4 bars or multiple of at minimum. Otherwise it sounds incomplete and out of time.
(every 3 bars if in 3/4 or 6)

i use Reason (e-jays a bit limted, and i think its target aduice is 7 year olds)

i think u cant get any for free. the closest thing to a free one would be playing the music mixer game @ cokestudios.com and recording it with ur mic. lol.
