Its realy starting to piss me off how starting to be treated like a minority. Im a white male (England) and its annoying that Christmas lights in my town are being taken down because it may offend Jews, Hindus or Muslims. Im not Christain but this is fecking annoying! Non-Christian people dont care. They are being treated like they make up equall population with others ; thats not ture! Like 45% of england is Atheist and bout' 35% are Christian. You realy can go into the street and say "Black people are better than white people" people wont do anything. You say "White people are better than black people" then you get mobbed by everyone within earshot.
Im not racist, im just tired of being treated like a minority

The problem as I see it is that people are allowed to bring with them their zeal of religion.
If you don't enjoy the countries' festivities and customs, then please, do get the fuck out and back into the roach infested shithole you were born in.

Political correctness is annoying me like hell. I wear a shirt of a black metal band, and because their lead singer is nazi-ish, I have grandmas lecturing me on racism... Like I did something racist! I just like the music for fuck's sake!...

... wha? So many questions.. But.. Why do grandmothers know about this black metal band in the first place?
The one thing force produces is resistance.

actually, it's just that metal (and any music that fits really) is considered by society so out of their boundaries that it is immediately branded as 'wrong'.. and since the vast majority of closed minded people derive their opinion from religion, then it is branded as 'nazi' or 'satanic'
also, I've felt just like you, some years ago.. but in the end I thought "why kill myself over their stupidity, ignorance and closed-minds?" it's just not worth it

I know what you mean, where i live they've stopped you saying black or white coffee, and changed black binbags for green incase it "offends people". I completely agree that racism is bad, but they've even cancelled a christmas concert because it might offend other religeons, so this radio station had loads of religeons cal up saying things like: I'm jewish im going to sing a christmas carol, and they had so many people from different religeons calling up saying the same thing. this anti racism thing is going too far!

You know, I think that people who like metal seem to think that they're persecuted a lot more harshly than they really are.

Dude, you da man!
I don't see why everyone has to be treated like they are a little baby. Sure, if some place does something against boys with long hair, do I really give a shit? Nope. I can take it. But if you say 1 thing about some other religion or whatnot, they all go crazy. Can't they just take it for once?

I agree with the majority of people here, but just to give you some vocabulary. The 3 words your looking for are
Political correctness
Affirmative action
Feel good racisim
These are the 3 words. I also take it that political correctness isn't one of the reasons you hate george bush (Dont give me the reasons, that's for another thread and i dont wanna change the subject)

I think he's referring to a band that has swashticas on their guitars, I think it's Slayer. That's fucked up, and if you wear a shirt of a band that embraces the swashtica, you deserve to be a lot more than "lectured by your grandmother"

Im American. I do not know your civil rights.....
Our biggest ammendment states that government may not interfeer with peoples personal beleifs. And that religion will not be touched.
Though x-mas lights is not a HARDCORE vital part of religion... Still
I do not follow any religion. but.
If anyone should have a problem with lights. They should deal with it because the lights are not empowering enough to say that they should convert, or that their beleifs are not valid...
Thats like making it illegal to say what religion you are aloud on a city street.

Tell me this...
How much money do buisnesses make as a whole from the christmas season
How many times do people say merry christmas
How many movies and TV show's are about christmas
How many christians exist in america
Compair the popularity of santa to the popularity of jesus
Sounds like christmas is more of a national holiday if you ask me.

The swastica smybolised tottalitarianisim, not a hatered of the jewish people.
Of the 12 million people killed under the swastica, half of them were jewish. A catholic should be just as offended to the swastica as a jew. And ontop of that, there have been many jewish holocausts, why, the christian and islamic flags as well as the packistan flags should be considered hate symbols as well if you base them on that criteria. Just a little food for thought.

My opinion.... I agree.
But.... I know that it is illegal, from a case that won against a man in my town that wore one on his shirt in public..... Now I dont agree with this... I am pro freedom. Though I am not offended, I do know many people are. But dont think it should be illegal.

How can you argue that?
Be real man, I don't care what the swashtica "stands for" I just care that millions and millions of people were slaughtered and the people that killed them had that symbol on their sleeves.
If you want to wear a swashtica, go ahead, I'll hate you for it. If the government won't stop bands from embracing that symbol, then I'm glad his grandmother will stop him from wearing their t-shirt.

Is it just me, or are some people trying to be soooooooo un-racist, or are so cautious about racism, that it's actually racist? Like, this one girl on my bus, she is black, she acts like everything that happens to her is because she is black. Another girl I know, screams out in class, falls out of her chair, and is basically the biggest trouble maker ever, gets in trouble and calls all the teachers racist. And some people may be so cautious about what you say and correct about any "racist" mark you say. I mean, if you want to stop racism, stop pointing everything that is not even meant to be racist, that is just showing that people are different.

I'm not trying to defend the swastica, i'm saying that it's hatred burns in a much broader perspective then just the jews. Many walks of life were slaughtered under the swastica. my point is, if somone put it the swastica on a catholic chruch, it is just as bad.
Understand? The swastica was about the illimination of EVERYONE who didn't fit the standards, the jews were just the ones hit the hardest.

I dont wear any hate smybols, i wear shirts with nothing on them at all.

They have mental problems. These people are sexually driven to be un-racist... they are rapists, perverts, and feminists (of the worst kind).
These people need to be hunted down and killed on sight.

I wasn't attacking you personally, Smith
I'm just trying to say that it's completely wrong to support the swashtica, even thought it could technically "mean" something else, and it's just as wrong to support a band that supports the swashtica.

Yay! My thread got replies!
Same thing happens to me too....
I realy find everyone saying racist and not knowing what it means. Stupid people, in school say that saying "You are black." Is racist. What the fuck! Its not racist its just a fact. Saying that "Black people should be treated differnetly becuse they skin pigment has a black dye in it".
Is somehow less racist if you through some scinetific words in there. ITS PISSIN' ME OOF

I'm not english, but reading this in a newspaper last year really got my back up. Last year a london cab driver was banned from flying St.Georges cross (flag of england) on St.Georges day because it would offend people from other countries. Now, if i went to italy, i'd expect to see italian flags, and if i was in the states i'd expect to see the stars and stripes, same for any country. So why the fuck was this man banned from being patriotic on the day that celebrates that countries patron saint? If you cant fly your own flag on your own goddamn land what the hell can you do?
I'm also annoyed at how white people are demonised about racism, i'm not racist in the slightest, i have every respect for other peoples religions, beliefs and cultural quirks. But for some reason, lets be hypothetical for a second, a black comedian makes jokes about white people, he's branded "hillarious" and the white people will laugh along. A white comedian makes a joke about muslims, he's branded a "sick racist" and we've got a jihad on our hands. I really dont get it, every colour, race, religion can be racist, but it seems sometimes that white people are bearing the brunt of the backlash on racism.
Thats my view on the matter anyway.

stop being so closed-minded.. if you wear a t-shirt with a gay artist on it, would you like if I immediately assume you're gay as well?

I think most people feel that way. The world is out to get them. The whole you don't understand my life rant. My brother gives that speech just about every month. He suffers alot what with living with my folks and not paying bills. Yea life's a bitch.
