FL Studio 5 Help 2005-11-09 22:13:16 Reply

I have a couple of questions, but before I ask them, (because I know what's going to happen, it always does) for both of my questoins I have google searched and looked around in the forums. I have found some things that help, but I'm hoping someone that has been into the software longer can point me to something I haven't found yet. Anyway, that's it for my disclaimer, on to the questions.

First, I've searched for and downloaded several VSTs, VSTis, and samples, but I just can't find anything that's any good. I read that there is a topic in the forum where people post them, but I have yet to run across it. If someone could link to that topic, or maybe a few sites, that would be wonderful.

Second thing I'm looking for is some decent tuts on making different kinds of music. I've already found a ton of sites that teach how to use the program, and I'm doing well with that. What I'm looking for now is a place that teaches maybe some basic drum beats, techniques for getting different sounds, and other things like that. I've basically examined all of the sample songs, and a lot of what is done in them that I like and that I think sounds good, I just can't figure out how they managed it. And I'm totally against stealing from another piece of music in the first place. I'd just like to examine some techniques to eventually develop my own.

Thanks for the help, and hopefully I'll have some things for people to check out in the AP soon.

I'm quite aware of the stickies, and I'm sure I've read about 90% of the information listed. It is possible that I missed something, but I did check. The things I'm looking for are quite specific, and as I watch for replies to this post I am still actively searching and reading. I'm not asking here to be lazy, just hoping to find what I'm looking for a little quicker.

Hmm, I can offer some bit of help. A great site for searching for some VST would be http://www.kvraudio.com/ For me, I found the threads at the overclockedremix's remixing forum very helpful and I recommend you check it out for some geat vst; remixers recommends.

I'm not much of a VST person but theres definitely a ton of information and tips you can find in that forum. Good luck with your findings.

And why everyone learns the programm from tutorials ( i learnt everything my self).
I suggest you to learn it by your self (better skills than from tutorials) , experiment more and you'll see what i mean.

ive been using FL for bout 4 years and ive never used a tutorial for it, the best way i found to learn it was, (even though you said you dont like it) manipulating the sample songs and seeing what you can do, making songs out of the preset instuments. also explore all of the panels, generators, plugins effects, menus, buttons, blah blah and anything that you havent touched yet and try to figure out the purpose of it, try to copy techniques for sound effects from samples, and then try to copy from real electronic music. before you know it youll find that your comfortable enough with the program, that you can make just about any noise from your imagination considerable ease. its just a matter of learning the programs capabilitys. the only other thing that could limit your ability would be your musical talent, which probly

Oh, I don't mind playing with the sample songs at all, I just don't want to directly use any of the settings in my work. I agree that the samples are great for learning how to manipulate the plugins.
