Well, if you smoke enough of anything, it can screw up your lungs.

It's possible with anything that you smoke but it's more likely that you will harm your lungs in a diffrent way than cancer. Weed doesn't have the carcenegetic additives the cigarettes do, and the properties that are harmful are taken in a smaller quantity than cigarette smoke because you don't need to smoke as much weed as tobacco to reach the same effect.

Unlike TOBACCO you can bake little COOKIES - you don't even have to smoke to get high (plz remember THIS ==> the smoking agrument is just a smoke screen)

Actually the marijuana plant, ususally a cannibas sativa or indica strand, contains more carcinogens than tobacco. Marijuana can definately cause cancer, but rarely if ever does so because people don't smoke joints/bowls at the same pace they smoke cigarettes. Some people smoke 20-30 cigs a day, but you will be hard pressed to find someone that smokes that much weed.

The effects of Marijuana use, courtesy of the NIDA (National Institute for Drug Abuse):
Short Term-
problems with memory and learning;
distorted perception (sights, sounds, time, touch);
trouble with thinking and problem-solving;
loss of coordination; and
increased heart rate.
(Basically, this is the "high" most users seek, because let's face it, if you can't think straight, you can't think about too much bad shit happening, right?)
Long Term Usage:
Cancer-
Regular marijuana use causes cancer. It is known that marijuana contains some of the same, and sometimes even more, of the cancer-causing chemicals found in tobacco smoke. Studies show that someone who smokes five joints per day may be taking in as many cancer-causing chemicals as someone who smokes a full pack of cigarettes every day.
Lungs and airways-
People who smoke marijuana often develop the same kinds of breathing problems that cigarette smokers have: coughing and wheezing. They tend to have more chest colds than nonusers. They are also at greater risk of getting lung infections like pneumonia.
Immune system-
THC increases the risk of developing infections by inhibiting normal disease-preventing reactions.
Now, that being said, I am actually for the legalization of marijuana on many levels. I myself do not smoke weed, but I believe it should be legalized for other reasons.
People are going to smoke it anyway. As far as drug users are concerned, marijuana users are relatively harmless, and the addiction one suffers from marijuana use is almost exclusively psychological.
Legalizing it would reduce the strain put on prisons, and bureaucratic police forces everywhere.
The government could actually put a tax on the stuff, and make more money.
Yes, marijuana is what people consider a "gateway" drug, but most pot users don't move on to bigger, better drugs. They just buy better weed.
So, I hope this post was informative, and I have shown some people all the facts.
Thank You.

It is highly unlikey, that's why I say legalize it for goodnes sake, think about it compared to alchohol and cigarettes, they're both much more hazardous to ones health than weed.

i didn't know that people were slow enough not to realize that anything that you inhale that happens to be smoke would cause eventual damage to your lungs.Just becauce it doesn't have as much crap as it does in it like smokes, doesn't make it exactly pure.
RoseSOAS: you should know i dont think this far ahead

Highly unlikely? Any plant material is carbon-based. By burning it you create carcenogens which can lead to cancer. And if you want to legalize something that impairs motor control, brain activity, and other nueral/physical abilities than you're going to add to the list of atrocities by drugs which alcohol and cigarettes create. Quit smoking pot so you can think clearer about the issue.

I don't smoke. I just feel that cigarettes and alchohol are much more hazardous to ones health than marijuana is, wouldn't you agree? I have smoked it before and it isn't addictive like the other two are.
