Contrary to popular belief, sprites are NOT an art form. Abandon the idea of sprites. Draw your own characters and such. Sticks aren't much better.

Uh, other people may not like it but sprote movies are rather easy:

Download a spritesheet of whatever you want your movie to be about off the Internet.
Then open MS Paint, into a 110x50 screen.
Then...oh forget it, I'm not wasting my time explaining this on a flippin' forum. Forget it for now, then wait until I do a sprite-movie tutorial.

Well, I do not totaly agree with that. Beeing creative is an form of art, and some sprite movies are very good. Plus, some people do not only use spritesheets, but also ad and modefy stuff theirself.
Collages are an artform too.
Of course spritemovies are not as creative as drawn cartoons, but thats another story.

screw sprites.

make some decent looking models, no sprite movies are good.
