world. why is this? it is because it is one's opinion on which is the greatest in the world.

america can be the greatest
canada can be the greatest
mexico can be the greatest
england can be the greatest
iraq can be the greatest
france can be the greatest
etc....

so, there is no such thing as an absolute greatest contry in the world because it all depends on the induvidual.

Greatness is only a perception of worth...
People of one nation will see their nations worth above all others.
Therefore the entire arguement is flawed, and yes will only lead to squabling, but im pretty sure the last few "My nations better than your's" kinda arguements led to world wars anyway.
so in hindsight, everyone sucks, lets jst get along and not nuke each other...

How do we differ between the Roman Empire and the Cheyenne tribes? Greatest is indeed applicable when describing a country. Yes you can have a biased opinion about who is the best, but in the end you have to have statistics to back up your facts. Who has the lowest unemployment, who has the greatest quality of life, etc etc are all questions that you should ask yourself. Don't simply throw away the question of who is greatest because of the natural obsession of people to become nationalists, for this is what has destroyed the world. Instead, and I'll reiterate myself, use tangible information when doing comparison between countries. There is indeed a greatest country, but the greatest country is only supreme for a brief span of time before somebody else aspires to become the greatest.

What if the individual is wrong? Are we incapable of making objective judgements about the value of other nations or cultures? Isn't it a bit silly to say that, for example, America and Togo are both the best nations?

Is there no actions you're willing to condemn, no behaviors that you find repugnant in other nations? And, if there are, do you really have such a low opinion of yourself that you don't think that it matters what you think?

This kind of moral relativism is problematic in any kind of policy sense. Sure, it makes you feel good to think "Aww, we're all the same", but that's not how you can behave when it comes to the real world. Some nations are good, some nations are bad. Some nations are free, some nations are not. Some nations are the scum of the earth, and we need to recognize that.

I guess, what I'm really saying is, if you honestly believe what you're saying, you're just not ready for the adult world.
