I know that you all play video games, or that you at least know about them. Wha,t do you think, is the most successful video game series? I, personally, think the Mario series is. Not only did it start big, but even today, it still has sequels coming out. They even made a Mario Baseball! Well, what is your opinion on this, Newgrounders?
Im gonna have to say Nintendo has the best series. Mario has been around the longest and is one of the most recognizable character in the world he even has his own wax figure in the museum
They even made a Mario Soccer game.
I think the Zelda series has become very succesful and so has the GTA series
i bet 5$ someone will say halo if they dont read this post
Resident Evil or Silent Hill
...And i'm not just saying it because itsHalloween related...
#1 Mario
#2 Grand Theft Auto

Was this recent? I don't remember seeing it.
1. Super Mario
2. Final Fantasy
Yup.
well mario and zelda are kindaof tied with me so im gonna say the grand theft auto series
Statistically, mario would have to be the most sucessful.
There are many
Mario was successul until they did Mario <Sport>, this shows the story has closed up shop
Zelda been running since NES era and still running strong. Games like "Orcarina of Time" put Zelda on the map
Final Fantasy is probably one of the biggest with multiple games stretching from NES to PS2 to even XBOX360.
See, Zelda's my favorite, but I just don't think it's been the most successful. Definitely up there though.

Of course. the museam.
Grand Theft Auto by far .... even though most people might be bored of it no questions asked that they are gonna buy the next game ( GTA Liberty City Stories ) when its comes out
As of now, it probably is the Mario series. But later it may be the Halo series, seeing as how Halo 2 is the best-selling game ever, and the first one is now second place. Plus a movie, books, cars, and 2,000 dollar costumes, you know what I'm getting at.

That was good when it came out, but it easily got heavy competition. Once again, Mario.
The most successful ones have to be the one with most above average reviews, alot of sales, and nearly everybody in society knows. And that person is Mario
Everyone says Mario, so I'm going to be say.... Crash Bandicoot. No I'm completely serious...
yup serious...

It's still not out, I think
Egotist, n. A person of low taste, more interested in himself than in me.

Ask someone who's never played a video game to name you a game, and they'll say Mario 90% of the time. I'm sick of hearing this Zelda crap too. It might be popular, but it's no Mario. Also, GTA has been extremely successful for a couple years now, but Nintendo has been making bank for decades with Mario.

Mk. Thanks anyway.

Silly douchebag. Super Mario Brothers for the NES shifted 40 million units. Are there even 40 million XBoxes? The Mario series has sold 152 million units. And before you say "but Super Mario Brothers was bundled with the NES," Super Mario Brothers 3 was the highest selling game not bundled with a system.
PWNED, even if this is a double post.
as in series you mean continuous story line...
Zelda has by far been the best series...
Mario Bros. stopped at Super Mario World for the SNES...true there have been other games with mario in it...but it's not the same...and cant be considered part of the series...
As far as Iconic video game characters Mario is on the top of the list...Only cause it kinda came out first and is forever imprinted on our hearts as gamers...
But if you ask the kids today...they would say Master Chief or something...
Mario, Legend of Zelda, Grand Theft Auto, Final Fantasy, Halo...

mario is a overrated character.
Most successful, in my opinion:
Super Mario Bros.
MegaMan
MegaMan X
Legend of Zelda
Doom
Quake
Sonic the Hedgehog
Die...
I say the Zelda series, even though I despised TWW for it's sailor theme.
