Open source ftp program!

I'm creating an open source ftp program made with php. It should be publically released in less than a month. Remember, it's open source so feel free to critique and edit it as much as you want. I know it won't be perfect, because no one spots their own mistakes on the first round.

It's a basic design since it will be capable of being used for mobile devices such as black berries and what not.

I'm trying to use as many predefined php functions to increase portability, but I don't know if I can finish out with 100% documented work. Anyway, it's going to have a shit load of options and nice subtle but useful features.

Actually, it got done before I though it would! I'm only left debugging the code for windows machines. It should be cross platform as far as portability. That means if you're running a Windows or *nix server it should run on it just fine.

I'll probably finish up the BETA version tomorrow afternoon in which I'll select a few random people to test it out and find bugs.

Way to go Pilot-Doofy! I'm stuck uploading files for my website by just connecting to my ftp on the internet! :P

I don't see the need for creating an open-source ftp program, I just use the browser that i'm situated with. I've heard of graphical ftp "things", but if you make one, I guess it would be cool.

I might use it.

I haven't seen any ftp programs that aren't free either lol...but's it's not like I have googled it or anything.

It should work just fine on Linux, no matter what. I hate having to make my shit compatible for Windows, it's so retarded. I wouldn't be making it cross-platform if the guy who hired me wasn't running a Windows server.

I build the Linux portion in less than a day, I've been stuck on Windows for about 6 days. Windows is making me retarded.

I was talking to F-13 and in his opinion, he says no one will want to add on unless it's a well structured object oriented approach.

I would like to "warn" you all that it is all predefined php functions that come standard with any php5 installation. It doesn't deal with raw sockets, etc. and it is very easy to modify.

If you would like to have the object oriented approach I may republish one later, but don't count on it. This one is very basic and what not for one reason, it's meant to be edited by hundreds, if not thousands of people.

How about telling us in what way you find Windows Server to be retarded? As someone who works with it every day, I can tell you that it can be a very powerful, stable platform; You just need to know how to configure it properly.

Anything can be retarded if you lack the skills to configure and maintain it properly.

Okay, I've never worked with a Windows FTP client so it's a completely new experience, and I hate it. Anyone who is willing to help me can earn a few bucks if they can make a few little features work with Windows. One being login.

Every system using FTP should be the same, no matter what the platform is. What functions are you using to connect?
