My apology for taking so long to respond, but I've been busy.

Alright fine, I am guilty here of generalizing, but look what group is in power. How did they get in power? People supported what they said and voted for them. According to this I would have to say that almost all of the conservative population voted republican. you don’t vote for a group when you don’t agree with their views on a majority of topics, unless you are frightened to death that if another group gains power that things are going to get VERY bad. So please explain to me, what did people think the democrats would do that would be SO MUCH worse then what the current administration is doing.
Okay, I would like to point out something you typed youself: "you don’t vote for a group when you don’t agree with their views on a majority of topics"
There is truth in that, but the problem is that in your original post, you assumed everything you hated about Republicans were also things conservatives supported. Honestly, the majority of conservatives in this country are NOT high class or even upper-middle class. One can guess this without even looking at a study. So really, for what reason would most conservatives support anything that exclusively benefits the high class (one of the reasons you hated Republicans)?
The point I'm getting is that yes, conservatives most likely supported the Republicans, but that does not mean everything the Republicans did is what conservatives support.
Also, I want to comment on this: "unless you are frightened to death that if another group gains power that things are going to get VERY bad. So please explain to me, what did people think the democrats would do that would be SO MUCH worse then what the current administration is doing."
Let me start by pointing out that polls indicated that morals was one of the top priority people had in mind when going to vote. I don't know why they needed a poll to realize this, but nonetheless. Anyway, just imagine it, aside from political differences, what moral differences did the Democrats and Republicans have?
Let me point out one of the big obvious - abortion.
That was just an example, but ultimately, what I'm trying to say is that there are several big differences between the Democrats and Republicans that would give people reasons to vote for one group and not the other.
Also, you may have forgotten about the Supreme Court. Another possibility for the Republicans winning is that conservatives may have hoped that Bush would finally do something good for a change and make the Sup. CT. conservative.
Do large amounts of people vote for PETA to take over the country? NO because they are a totally crazy group, and almost no one would want to be ruled by those psychos. So large amounts of people vote for republicans? YES! Therefore they have designated that at the moment that they are pro-republican, or at least strongly anti-democrat. If you vote for something else, then you may be liberal or conservative while not being for either party.
Here, you make another point that I don't understand why you didn't take into consideration before. People may vote for a certain Party for one of two reasons - 1) They support one Party or 2) They hate the other Party. Hell, if I remember correctly, this was big during the election. It was going around that people specifically voted for the Democrats because they hated Bush.
I would like to note, though, that I don't see many people who refer to themselves as conservative or liberal and not vote for one of the major Parties. Usually, people who vote for third Parties are either moderates or REALLY REALLY hate the two candidates from the major Parties. This is at least from what I've seen.
By the way I am an extremely strong supporter of the group PETA (People for the Eating of Tasty Animals) :)
Aren't we all?
