Skateboarding, Old Skool or uncool?

Views on skateboarding!

Personally not one of my favourite things to do considering everyone I know that is a skater can only wear baggy clothes, over-sized shoes and say "bitch". They can barely stand on the board without falling, let alone stay on it while it's moving.

Skateboarding is old school, if you have one of the old school boards, like the really skinny small ones that came from the late 70's or the the big wide boards that came from the early 80's. Back when skateboarding was like riding a bike, or a scooter, and it wasn't based upon performing tricks. When it was used to get from place to place. Before it had a stereo-type.

By the way, I like "skater-style" wardrobe, but I don't skateboard. Or at least i haven't in forever.

Final Verdict
Skateboarding = old school
Poser/New Style Skaters = uncool.

first of all, the shoes are padded for skatin' so whatever... and baggy clothes sure thats apart of it... but thats why i could never skate, i tweaked my outfit so i could... its the easiest way to spot posers... baggy, impossible skating conditioned clothes... so not everything new skool is poser and dumb

Theres 2 different types of skateboarders that i've noticed, The "Rap" skateboarders, who wear the baggy clothes and the oversized shoes, and the "Punk/Rock" skateboarders, who wear the tight pants and normal sized shoes, and i think all the skateboarders i know smoke pot or have smoked pot at one point.

What does hating idiots have to do with riding on a board?

I was having to much difficulty learning to skateboard, and since it's banned in most public areas wher I live it isn't really a viable source of transportation for me.

Hrm... Lets see, i'm a skater, and i co-own a skating company... I dont know many skaters that wear baggy clothes, the over-sized shoes are called "Skateboarding Shoes" they are made big to make skating easier, and non of them say bitch... The skaters you know must suck cause all the skaters i know can stay on their board and do OMG TRICKS...

i skate every once in a while, and i sure as hell dont smoke pot, and haven't before, so i think thats a bit of a stereotype there

There are people over 30 that still skate you know...

If you can manage to skate for over 5 years without quiting chanses are you are v good and can hence get sponsored by your local shop and get free stuff. :)

However for most of the people they skate untill they learn to ollie, then they get bored and give it up

Skateboardings ok. I have been doing it for like 4 years. I think you are too steryotipical. I don't wear oversized shoes, I don't *always* wear baggy clothes (and when I do, It is because I am cold), and I don't swear that much.

I skateboard all the time and have done so for years. Personally, I really couldn't care less about what others think because I do it for myself and my own reasons, not for anyone else or theirs.

The thing is that those who skate to be cool never will be, and those who are considered cool because they skate don't care because that isn't why they do it. Not that I make a big deal about it—or that it really matters at all—but I respect those who skateboard for the love of skateboarding more than those who will only step onto a board if they have a camera pointed at them.

'Coolness' is quite the paradox when it comes to skateboarding.

Skateboarding is cool. I used to skate, but I stopped after I got hurt to many times. I just didn't want to deal with being paralyzed the rest of my life because of some stupid fall. I used to skate for fun, and not to be cool, but I hate all these kids who do it to be cool. Especially the ones that give skateoarding a bad name, by mouthing off to authorities when told to stop skateboarding on private properties.

It ruins it for the skaters who are out there to have fun, or make a career out of it. It gives them a bad name, like they are some sort of trouble maker, and out there to defy society. I certainly had my share of dirty looks, but I was never the type to disrespect people.

personally, i dont care. if someone is one of these "skaters" i wouldnt care if they were baggy close or such.

if someone goes on a skateboard, which doesnt mean they are a "skater" i wouldnt care.

its a shame people dont just "not give a damn" about what people do and consentrate on their own things.

so...i dont care about the skateboarding people. i dont care if it is old school or uncool, or the thing to do.
because i dont care to go on one. i am not someone who tries to be like everyone else or tries to be diffrent then everyone else. i just try to be myself, and myself says that i dont care if you skateboard or not.
