Well you're nice aren't you...
dude, I know that there are plenty of genres of metal, since I listen to basically all of them, I got plenty of Heavy, Power, Speed, Symphonic, Black, Death, Grind, Goth, Progressive, Ambient, etc..
and yes, all of those are subgenres of the entirety of the genre that is Metal itself.. but take notice into the fact that the genre was not intended to be mainstream, it's supposed to be a bit "exclusive" (if you allow me to use the word) as it takes certain aspects of music to the extreme (like black metal with speed, death metal in it's growling and down-tuning, prog metal in songwriting, etc)..
Rammstein calling itself metal is a publicitary stunt to make all the nu-metal posers say that they're listening to metal, hence making them buy more stuff.. that's why you see them on tv, don't you think?
also, yes, I agree with you that some hardcore and/or nu-metal bands have certain aspects of true metal, but that doesn't make them metal, since a greater part of their music overshadows on the few aspects that would qualify them as metal.. and like I said, metal takes things to the extreme.. nu-metal and hardcore tune it down a bit so more people are able to hear it without thinking "holy crap! satanic shit!" or as many say "how can you listen to this? it's just noise!"
also, yes, I've heard Iron Maiden, DragonForce, Black Sabbath (which is Doom Metal btw) and Motorhead, and Lemmy just says the things he says because he likes the old style of rock'n'roll, as you would probably notice if you hear the riffs he gives his music, VERY old fashioned. I hope this isn't too much of a blanket statement, and excuse me for the stfu from last time, I was in (as duffeknol said) "flaming anger"
