Racism On Newgrounds

Five years ago, a great Newgrounder, in whose symbolic shadow we stand took the BBS to a higher level. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to thousands of Newgrounders who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice, and lack of good General content. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of boredom. But years later, we must face the tragic fact that the General section is still a problem we all face daily.

Years later, the general section is still a means of angsty blog-posting. Years later, the newcomers continue to post content that truly, truly isn’t funny. Years later, level nines continue to think they deserve a place of respect even though the posts are even more boring that watching George W. Bush struggle to make up words (or use words that he has not fucking idea means) during a speech. Not I, I know my place. And still, the BBS is suppressed.

All Newgrounders should be treated equal, but the fact is… they aren’t equal. I am better than you, and Earfetish is sexier. Newgrounders are guaranteed the inalienable rights of posting, voting, and reviewing, but you do not deserve it. It is obvious today that Newgrounds has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as its frequenters cannot further stand the barrage of irresponsible posts. Instead of honoring the sacred obligation to slap right those in need, Newgrounds has given the frequenters people a bad check which has come back marked "insufficient funds." But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this community.

So we have come to cash this check -- a check that will give us upon demand the riches of valuable posting and the security of not having to skim through post by those who think they are funny – and you aren’t.

Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of crap to the sunlit path of value.

Now is the time to open the doors of opportunity to all of Newground’s children.

Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of blog-posting to the solid rock of Newgroundshood.

It would be fatal for Newgrounds to overlook the urgency of the moment and to underestimate the determination of the frequenter. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our Newgrounds until the bright day of justice emerges. But there is something that I must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place, and authority, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom of the suppressing posting by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.

We cannot walk alone. And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall march ahead. We cannot turn back. I am not unmindful that some of you have clicked here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from a level nine thread. Some of you have come from areas of Newgrounds that could be named “perverted”. You have been the veterans of creative suffering.

Go back to Wi/Ht?, Clubs & Crews, go back to Audio, go back to Flash, go back to the slums and ghettos of our General section, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed. Let us not wallow in the valley of despair. I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the Newgrounds dream.

I have a dream that one day this site will rise up and live out the true meaning of its purpose.

I have a dream that one day in the General section the level nines, and those below, and the level tens, and those above, will be able to sit down together at a table and not be dulled by one another.

I have a dream that one day those dull, blog-like posts, yes, those blog posts, will be scarce and few and far between. I have a dream that my future children will one day be able to come to the BBS only to find funny posts, intelligent discussion, and all levels getting like – even those level nines who are beneath the rest of us.
I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day the BBS, whose mods lips are presently dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, will be transformed into a situation where newcomers and minors will be able to join hands with little frequenters and the aged and walk together as family in this beautiful community.

I have a dream today.

When we let freedom of crap ring, when we let it ring from every section of the BBS and every section of the portals, from every thread to every submission, we will be able to speed up that day when all of Newground's children, black men and white men – I mean frequenters and newcomers, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics – or whatever is parallel in newgrounds, will be able to join hands and sing along to Numa Numa, or in the words of the old Peter Griffin spiritual, "this house is freakin' sweet! "

Might as well be directed at me. I am guilty of it at times (every day). But it depends on what it is and how entertaining the read actually is. Thats my look on it anyway, I can always choose to ignore.
